Umbilical cord cutting mechanism

Abstract

The invention relates to a wire-cutting mechanism (10) for a flight device (20) deployed in a launch tube (30), intended to disconnect the electrical and / or communication between the flight device and the launch system at the time the flight device leaves the launch tube, without the need for a separate activation mechanism. This mechanism consists of a wire cutter (11) fixed in the flight device housing (20), with a V-shaped cutting blade facing the wire (15) to guide the wire into the cutting area; a front stop (14) positioned in front of the cutter (11), with a wire guide groove (141) for the wire (15) to pass through; and two elastic pads (12, 13) symmetrically positioned on either side of the cutter (11), which are connected by rotating screws (125, 135) on the wire cutter (11). In the initial state, two elastic pads (12, 13) shield the front of the blade, holding the umbilical cord (15) through the gap of the front stopper (14).When the flying device (20) starts moving away from the launch tube and the pulling force applied to the umbilical cord (15) exceeds the predetermined limit value, the two elastic pads (12, 13) are pulled open to the sides by the umbilical cord (15), thereby the cable cutter (11) cuts the umbilical cord (15) cleanly by the launching force of the flying device (20).
