Abstract
The invention proposes a device and method for securing the physical layer of wireless communication using parameterized unit multicarrier modulation and variable-domain power allocation. Specifically, a method for securing the physical layer of wireless communication involves gathering channel-related information associated with a legitimate receiver and at least one eavesdropper for a dual-scattering wireless channel; a parameterized unit multicarrier modulation and at least one variable parameter value selected based on a structural attenuation index derived from an effective channel representation associated with at least one eavesdropper; and a variable-domain power allocation across multiple variable-domain resource elements determined by an optimization procedure to achieve the security rate target under transmit power constraints. The variable domain symbols are weighted by the variable domain power allocation processed by the inverse of the selected parameterized unit multi-carrier modulation transform to obtain the transmitted signal for transmission over the dual-scattering wireless channel to a legitimate receiver.
