Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling flowering, fruit setting, and improving the commercial quality of Vinh Hoa fragrant mangoes using a phased organic microbial nutrient process combined with bud dormancy breaking treatment. The method includes: post-harvest assessment of orchard condition, pruning and shaping, and bud standardization; phased fertilization using specialized fruit tree fertilizers or balanced inorganic nutrients combined with organic microbial fertilizers; when buds mature, breaking bud dormancy with a thiourea-containing preparation combined with nitrogen and potassium sources; monitoring flowering for 50-55 days according to indicators such as inflorescence length, flowering rate, rate of hermaphrodite flowers, rate of young fruit setting, and fruit setting rate; and based on fruit setting data, switching to a commercial fruit development regime. This method helps increase flowering rate, hermaphrodite flower rate, young fruit set rate, fruit set rate, number of first-grade fruits, yield, fruit weight, and Brix level, while avoiding the need to protect known variety traits, molecular markers, fertilizer formulations, or flowering stimulation techniques.
