The invention proposes a method for controlling a display, a timing controller, a display device, and a storage recording device, and falls within the field of display technology.The display control method according to the invention includes the following steps: receiving frame image data, and comparing the i-th line of the original display data in the frame image data with the (i-1)th line of the original display data; when the i-th line of the original display data includes the first data segment that satisfies the first pre-established condition, take the display data corresponding to the sub-pixels from j to (j+x)th in the i-th line of the original display data as the first data segment, take the remaining display data as the second data segment, and take the position information of the sub-pixels corresponding to the first and second data segments as the i-th line of the forward data to be sent to the source controller, so that the source controller obtains the i-th line of the actual display data according to the (i-1)th line of the actual display data stored therein, and controls the display of the i-th sub-pixel line in the display panel.
