Lead-acid batteries

Abstract

The invention relates to a lead-acid battery with an improved design. The battery consists of a casing (3.1) made of polypropylene (PP), an electrode assembly arranged inside the casing, and a cap and electrode assembly mounted on top of the casing. In the cap and electrode assembly, the electrode (1.1) is enclosed and directly bonded to the lead component (1.2) during manufacturing, forming a complete integrated unit; the lead component (1.2) is enclosed inside the PP plastic casing (1.3); the lead terminal inside the battery is directly welded to the lead component (1.2) without the need for additional welding between the electrode, lead terminal, and casing as in known designs. The casing (1.3) is bonded to the casing (3.1) by high-temperature heat pressing at approximately 430°C for 3–5 seconds instead of the glue pouring and curing method. The invention helps shorten production and assembly time, and reduces deformation and bulging of tanks due to heat.
