Abstract

The invention relates to a cobalt ion-coated melanin / alginate biomaterial complex (denoted as Co-M / A) and a procedure for using Co-M / A particles as an affinity chromatographic stationary phase for the specific capture and purification of recombinant histag-labeled molecular fusion proteins (denoted as His-tag protein) from total protein solutions, with the ability to preserve the biological activity of the His-tag proteins after purification.
