Method for creating microencapsulation systems for Centella asiatica (Gotu Kola) extract.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing microencapsulated Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) extract, including: i) extracting Centella Asiatica powder in ethanol solvent by sonication at 40 kHz in a heat bath for 30 to 45 minutes at 50°C; filtering and recovering the Centella Asiatica extract; ii) concentrating the Centella Asiatica extract from Step i) and drying at 50°C to obtain a Centella Asiatica extract with a moisture content of < 5%; iii) mixing the Centella Asiatica extract from Step ii) into a sodium alginate solution with a concentration of 0.5% to 2.5% for 3 to 9 minutes by sonication; and obtaining an alginate-Centella Asiatica extract mixture. iv) Proceed with the creation of microencapsulated Centella asiatica extract by adding dropwise a mixture of alginate and Centella asiatica extract to a 3% CaCl2 solution, and obtain spherical microencapsulated Centella asiatica extract in the CaCl2 solution;and v) recover and wash the extracted Centella asiatica microencapsulated particles obtained in Step iv), dry at 45°C until the moisture content is below 5%, and obtain Centella asiatica microencapsulated particles with an average size of approximately 1 mm to 2 mm.
