Abstract
The invention relates to a precast lightweight concrete flexural element using prestressed glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars with reinforced anchoring zones for use in civil, industrial, and bridge construction. The element consists of two concrete zones and a GFRP bar prestressed by a pre-tensioning method, wherein these two concrete zones are a first lightweight concrete zone in the middle and a second reinforced anchoring concrete zone. The first lightweight concrete zone in the middle is made of lightweight concrete using keramzit aggregate to reduce the element's self-weight. The reinforced anchoring concrete zones at both ends of the element are arranged using either ordinary concrete or high-strength concrete to ensure the transfer of prestressing force from the GFRP bar to the concrete through adhesion, limiting local failure at the anchoring ends when the prestressing force is released.
