Methods for creating transmission coatings for waveguides, transmission coatings, waveguides, and holographic systems.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a transmission coating for a waveguide. This transmission coating consists of multiple layers. This method comprises step a, which is to determine the first coating parameter and the coating function for each layer to optimize the transmission coefficient at multiple locations along the waveguide for multiple different wavelengths. This coating function is selected from a number of allowed coating functions. Next, step b is to produce the aforementioned layers using the defined coating parameters and coating functions. Then, step c is to measure the thickness of at least one layer at each of the aforementioned locations. These measurements indicate that the coating function deviates from the selected coating function during the optimization of step a. Finally, step d is to determine the second coating parameter for at least one layer by repeating the optimization of step a using the coating function derived from the measurements of step c. The invention also relates to a transmission coating, a waveguide, and a holographic system.
