Abstract

The invention proposes a process for synthesizing Ru-Ce bimetallic catalytic materials on a γ-Al2O3 support using a wet spot impregnation method combined with cold plasma technology. The process is characterized by the simultaneous decomposition of metal precursors and deoxidation in a single stage with hydrogen plasma combined with heating, instead of two stages: (i) calcination of precursors and (ii) deoxidation of catalysts in the traditional method. The unique feature of the invention is the direct transformation of metal precursors in the impregnated capillaries into active metal nanoparticles under the influence of cold plasma and heat assistance. The direct interaction between the precursors and the active materials in the hydrogen plasma (electrons, ions, excited molecules) allows for tight control of the surface structure, creating smaller and more uniformly dispersed nanoparticles, thereby maximizing the number of catalytic active sites and enhancing catalytic efficiency. The Ru-Ce / γ-Al2O3 catalytic material was synthesized using a patented process that completely decomposes NH3 to produce H₂ at 525°C (25°C lower than the control sample) and increases hydrogen production efficiency by 12-20% in the temperature range of 350 to 525°C.
