Abstract
The invention relates to a cold plasma jet device based on the principle of corona discharge at atmospheric pressure. The device has a modular construction, comprising a dielectric block 1'(a) and 1'(b) integrated with a gas distribution chamber (5'), a pair of opposing needle electrodes (2') connected to a high-voltage power source at kHz frequency (7'), and a narrow directional slit (3') located downstream. The core feature of the invention is the narrow directional plasma stream slit (3') with characteristic dimensions, including width w and height h in cross-section and axial length L. In which w and L are many times larger than h, preferably h ≤ 2.0 mm and L / h ≥ 10. This configuration helps to accelerate the working gas flow, limit turbulent energy, and promote the transition to laminar flow, thereby maintaining a stable and uniform plasma jet (4') in an open air environment. When combined with a high-voltage kHz source, the narrow-gap structure acts as a thermodynamic stabilizer, bringing the plasma jet temperature to ≤ 40°C, ensuring the safety of heat-sensitive surfaces. The invention allows the interconnection of modular units into a two-dimensional (2D) array to expand the plasma interaction area on a large scale with low gas flow.
