A method for fabricating localized plasmonic nanostructures based on templates.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for fabricating localized plasmon resonant nanostructures. The method for fabricating localized plasmon resonant nanostructures is based on spin coating of nanoparticles onto a substrate containing templates. The templates, in geometric shapes such as V-shapes, A-shapes, pi-shapes, arcs, circles, squares, triangles, etc., are created on silicon substrates or other materials. Localized plasmon resonant nanostructures are created inside these templates. Each template may contain one nanoparticle or multiple nanoparticles packed together. The number of nanoparticles in each template is controlled by varying the geometry and size of the template, the spin coating speed, and the power and duration of thermal radiation irradiation during the spin coating process.
