AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Permanent magnet type synchronous motors driven by pulse width modulation struggle to operate when AC power is not supplied, as they rely on external AC power for operation and lack a backup power source.

Method used

A motor system comprising a permanent magnet type synchronous motor, a rectifying and smoothing circuit, an inverter main circuit, a motor torque control device, and a storage battery, allowing the motor to be driven by the battery when AC power is unavailable, with the external power connection section parallel to the rectifying and smoothing circuit, enabling DC power supply from the battery to the inverter.

Benefits of technology

Enables the motor system to operate continuously even during power outages by utilizing a storage battery as a backup power source, ensuring uninterrupted operation of ventilation blowers in critical facilities.

Abstract

A motor system (26) comprises: a permanent magnet synchronous motor (5) having a rotor (5r) in which a permanent magnet is located; an inverter main circuit (3) that converts DC power into second AC power through pulse width modulation and supplies the second AC power to the permanent magnet synchronous motor (5); a motor torque control device (20) that controls the inverter main circuit (3); and an external power connection unit (30) to which a storage battery (29) is connected. The external power connection unit (30) is connected, in between a positive side DC bus and a negative side DC bus which are between the rectification smoothing circuit (2) and the inverter main circuit (3), in parallel to a rectification smoothing circuit (2).
