This chip protective body (80a) for protecting an IC chip (60) mounted on a display panel (50) comprises: a protective wall (71a) provided so as to surround the IC chip (60) and having formed therein a plurality of through-holes passing therethrough in the thickness direction and having a circular shape in a plan view; a plurality of vertically movable parts (72a) respectively provided so as to be fitted into the plurality of through-holes; and a protective tape (74) which is provided so as to cover the IC chip (60) and to which the upper surface of each of the vertically movable parts (72a) is fixed. The chip protective body (80a) is configured such that each of the vertically movable parts (72a) descends accompanying a radial contraction of each of the vertically movable parts (72a) and is fixed to the display panel (50) via an adhesive layer (73a) on the lower surface thereof.
