Abstract

A system and method of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) in an internal combustion engine are provided. The system includes an EGR flow path that connects the intake and exhaust, and an EGR cooler in the EGR flow path. The engine speed, exhaust flow, and EGR flow in the EGR flow path are controlled to reduce fouling of the EGR cooler.
