Abstract
An implantable tripolar lead assembly includes a flexible lead body that extends from a header of an implantable device housing to multiple distal electrodes. Conductors disposed within the lead body transmit respective electrical signals to the electrodes. The conductors include at least one outer conductor positioned radially outermost relative to one or more inner conductors inside the lead body. In an example, a first distal electrode of the multiple distal electrodes is coupled to the at least one outer conductor, and a second distal electrode of the multiple distal electrodes is coupled to one of the inner conductors. A flexure resilience characteristic of the outer and inner conductors can be different. Lead fault conditions can be identified by measuring electrical characteristics of the lead. In response to a lead fault condition, a therapy delivery or sensing vector can be automatically updated or therapy parameters can be updated.
