[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0002] This application claims priority to the Chinese patent application filed with the China Patent Office on August 31, 2023, with application number 202311137788.6 and titled “Oil Pan Assembly, Engine and Vehicle,” the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field

[0003] The present disclosure relates to the field of vehicle exhaust silencing, and in particular, to an oil pan assembly, an engine, and a vehicle. Background Art

[0004] In existing vehicles, the engine is typically placed in the front cabin, while the muffler is located in the rear. The exhaust line connecting the engine and muffler needs to extend from the front to the rear. This long line results in high exhaust pressure and low thermal efficiency. This arrangement also requires a large number of components and poor integration. Furthermore, in hybrid vehicles, the exhaust line between the engine and muffler takes up space in the battery pack, limiting its size and directly impacting vehicle range.

[0005] Summary of the Invention

[0006] An object of the present disclosure is to provide an oil sump assembly, an engine, and a vehicle to at least partially solve the problems existing in the related art.

[0007] In order to achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the present disclosure provides an oil pan assembly, comprising: an oil pan body, comprising a first chamber and a second chamber, the first chamber being used to contain engine oil; and an exhaust muffler, arranged in the second chamber, wherein the second chamber is provided with a first air inlet and a first air outlet, the exhaust muffler having a second air inlet and a second air outlet, the second air inlet being connected to the first air inlet, and the second air outlet being connected to the first air outlet.

[0008] Optionally, the first air inlet is aligned with the second air inlet, and the first air outlet is aligned with the second air outlet.

[0009] Optionally, a heat insulating portion is provided between the exhaust muffler and the inner wall of the second chamber.

[0010] Optionally, the insulation part is an insulation cotton pad, which is interference-fitted between the exhaust muffler and the inner wall of the second chamber, and the insulation cotton pad is provided with an air inlet channel and an air outlet channel, the air inlet channel connects the first air inlet and the second air inlet, and the air outlet channel connects the first air outlet and the second air outlet.

[0012] Optionally, the second chamber is constructed in a shell shape with an upward opening, and the oil pan assembly further includes an oil-proof baffle, which is covered at the opening of the second chamber.

[0013] Optionally, a sealing portion is provided between the oil-proof baffle and the second chamber.

[0014] Optionally, a guide groove is provided on the upper end surface of the oil-proof baffle for introducing the engine oil falling onto the upper end surface of the oil-proof baffle into the first chamber.

[0015] Optionally, an escape portion is formed on the upper end surface of the oil-proof baffle, and the escape portion is used to avoid the movement of the engine crankshaft.

[0016] Optionally, the first air outlet is provided with a first connecting piece, the first connecting piece is used to be connected to the exhaust tail pipe, and the first air inlet is provided with a second connecting piece, the second connecting piece is used to be connected to the exhaust catalytic converter.

[0017] According to a second aspect of the present disclosure, an engine is provided, comprising an engine body and the above-mentioned oil sump assembly, wherein the oil sump assembly is assembled on the lower side of the engine body.

[0018] According to a third aspect of the present disclosure, a vehicle is provided, comprising a vehicle body and the above-mentioned engine, wherein the engine is disposed in a front compartment or a rear compartment of the vehicle body.

[0019] Optionally, the vehicle is a hybrid vehicle.

[0020] With the above technical solution, the exhaust muffler is integrated into the second chamber, and the exhaust gas from the engine can directly enter the exhaust muffler through the first and second air inlets, and then enter the exhaust tailpipe and be discharged directly through the second and first air outlets. This design has at least the following advantages:

[0021] 1. The components in the engine compartment are highly integrated, resulting in high space utilization. Compared to the traditional layout (engine and exhaust muffler are placed in front and back), this effectively frees up space on the side of the vehicle away from the engine. For example, when the engine is located at the front of the vehicle, the trunk storage space can be effectively increased.

[0022] 2. Compared with the traditional layout, the exhaust tailpipe connected to the exhaust muffler can discharge exhaust directly near the exhaust muffler, without extending to the other end of the vehicle. On the one hand, it can effectively shorten the exhaust pipe and reduce exhaust back pressure, thereby improving engine thermal efficiency. On the other hand, it can reduce the number of exhaust system components (omitting the exhaust tailpipe extending front and rear), reducing costs and failure rates. It can also effectively "hide" the exhaust in appearance, making the vehicle more inclined towards electrification.

[0023] 3. When the oil pan assembly is used in a hybrid vehicle, the exhaust tail pipe connected to the exhaust muffler directly discharges the exhaust gas near the exhaust muffler, and the exhaust tail pipe extending forward and backward can be omitted, that is, the exhaust tail pipe is prevented from occupying the space of the battery pack, which can effectively improve the battery pack's endurance.

[0024] Other features and advantages of the present disclosure will be described in detail in the following detailed description. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0035] The following describes the specific embodiments of the present disclosure in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. It should be understood that the specific embodiments described herein are only used to illustrate and explain the present disclosure and are not intended to limit the present disclosure.

[0036] In the present disclosure, unless otherwise specified, the directional words used, such as "inside, outside", "up, down", "front, rear", etc., may be defined based on the actual use direction of the relevant components, or may be based on the structure itself. For example: a heat insulation portion is provided between the exhaust muffler and the "inner wall" of the second chamber, which means that the exhaust muffler is arranged in the accommodating space of the second chamber, and a heat insulation portion is provided between the exhaust muffler and the wall surface inside the second chamber; a guide groove is provided on the "upper end face" of the oil baffle, which means that after the oil pan assembly is installed on the engine body, a guide groove is provided on the end face of the oil baffle close to the engine body, that is, the "up and down" here refers to the corresponding up and down after the oil pan assembly is assembled on the engine body and the engine is assembled on the vehicle body; the "front cabin" or "rear cabin" of the vehicle is based on the length direction of the vehicle, wherein the front direction is front and the rear direction is rear, that is, the front cabin refers to the cabin close to the front of the vehicle, and the rear cabin refers to the cabin close to the rear of the vehicle.

[0037] In addition, in this disclosure, the terms "first", "second", etc. are used to distinguish one element from another and do not have order or importance. When the following description refers to the drawings, unless otherwise indicated, the same numbers in different drawings represent the same or similar elements.

[0038] A vehicle's exhaust muffler is a device that reduces engine exhaust noise by gradually reducing exhaust pressure and attenuating exhaust pressure pulsation.

[0039] 1-3 , according to a first aspect of the present disclosure, an oil pan assembly 1 is provided, comprising: an oil pan body 100 and an exhaust muffler 300, wherein the oil pan body 100 comprises a first chamber 110 and a second chamber 120, the first chamber 110 being used to contain engine oil, the exhaust muffler 300 being arranged in the second chamber 120, wherein the second chamber 120 is provided with a first air inlet 121 and a first air outlet 122, the exhaust muffler 300 having a second air inlet 310 and a second air outlet 320, the second air inlet 310 being connected to the first air inlet 121, and the second air outlet 320 being connected to the first air outlet 122.

[0040] In the embodiment of the present disclosure, to prevent the oil in the first chamber 110 from flowing into the second chamber 120, the first chamber 110 and the second chamber 120 can be integrally formed by injection molding of the oil pan body 100, and can be separated into two mutually unconnected cavities by a partition. Furthermore, in other embodiments, the first chamber 110 and the second chamber 120 can be two independent cavities that can be assembled together to form the oil pan body 100 by welding or mechanical connection.

[0041] The present disclosure does not limit the method of gas communication between the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310. For example, the communication may be achieved through the air inlet channel 411 described below. Furthermore, in other embodiments, a gas pipeline may be connected between the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310 to provide gas communication therebetween. Similarly, the first air outlet 122 and the second air outlet 320 may also be connected through the air outlet channel 412 described below, or through a gas pipeline.

[0042] By using the above technical solution, the exhaust muffler 300 is integrated into the second chamber 120. The exhaust gas from the engine can directly enter the exhaust muffler 300 through the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310, and directly enter the exhaust tailpipe 710 through the second air outlet 320 and the first air outlet 122 for discharge. This design has at least the following advantages:

[0043] 1. The components in the engine compartment are highly integrated, resulting in high space utilization. Compared to the traditional layout (where the engine and exhaust muffler 300 are located at the front and rear ends of the vehicle length, respectively), this effectively frees up space at the end of the vehicle away from the engine. For example, when the engine is located at the front end of the vehicle, the rear trunk storage space can be effectively increased.

[0044] 2. Compared to traditional arrangements, the exhaust tailpipe 710 connected to the exhaust muffler 300 can discharge exhaust gases directly near the engine compartment, without having to extend them to the end of the vehicle away from the engine. This effectively shortens the exhaust pipe and reduces exhaust backpressure, thereby improving engine thermal efficiency. Furthermore, it reduces the number of exhaust system components (by eliminating the need for front-to-back exhaust pipes), lowering costs and failure rates. Furthermore, when the engine is installed in the front compartment, the exhaust can be effectively "hidden" from the vehicle's exterior, further aligning the vehicle with electrification.

[0045] 3. When the oil pan assembly 1 is used in a hybrid vehicle, the exhaust tail pipe 710 connected to the exhaust muffler 300 discharges the exhaust gas near the engine compartment, eliminating the exhaust pipes extending forward and backward. Since the battery pack is arranged in the middle of the vehicle in the longitudinal direction, the exhaust pipe can be prevented from occupying the layout space of the battery pack, thereby improving the battery pack's endurance.

[0046] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310 can be aligned, and the first air outlet 122 and the second air outlet 320 can be aligned. "Alignment" here does not mean that their center points are perfectly aligned. Rather, it suffices to ensure that the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310, as well as the first air outlet 122 and the second air outlet 320, are generally aligned, allowing gas to flow directly into and out of the second chamber 120 and the exhaust muffler 300 without turning. This design reduces the distance between the first and second air inlets 121 and 310, and the first and second air outlets 122 and 320, allowing exhaust gas to quickly pass through the first and second air inlets 121 and 310 into the exhaust muffler 300 and, after being processed in the exhaust muffler 300, quickly exit through the first and second air outlets 122 and 320. Furthermore, this alignment prevents unnecessary turns and directional changes in the second chamber 120, which could create noise. In some embodiments, as described below, a heat insulating portion 400 needs to be provided between the second chamber 120 and the exhaust muffler 300, which makes it inconvenient to arrange the exhaust gas channel, etc. The aligned setting can simplify the process and reduce the production difficulty and cost.

[0047] Since the exhaust gas temperature of the engine is relatively high, in order to prevent the high temperature of the exhaust gas from heating the oil and surrounding components in the first chamber 110 through heat conduction or heat radiation, in the embodiment of the present disclosure,

[0048] A heat insulating portion 400 may be provided between the exhaust muffler 300 and the inner wall 123 of the second chamber 120. This design can prevent the high temperature of the exhaust gas in the exhaust muffler 300 from being conducted outwards, thereby preventing damage to surrounding components and engine oil.

[0049] Furthermore, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the heat insulating portion 400 may be a heat insulating cotton pad 401, and the heat insulating cotton pad 401 is interference fitted between the exhaust muffler 300 and the inner wall 123 of the second chamber 120. In addition to being able to play a heat insulating role, the heat insulating cotton pad 401 can also play a role in shock absorption and noise reduction. It should be noted that the present disclosure does not limit the specific form of the heat insulating portion 400. In addition to the above-mentioned heat insulating cotton pad 401, in some other embodiments, the heat insulating portion 400 may also be an aerogel coated on the outer wall of the exhaust muffler 300. It should be noted that the above-mentioned interference fitting is to reduce the vibration of the exhaust muffler 300 inside the second chamber 120.

[0050] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the heat insulating cotton pad 401 may be provided with an air inlet channel 411 and an air outlet channel 412. The air inlet channel 411 is connected to the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310, and the air outlet channel 412 is connected to the first air outlet 122 and the second air outlet 320. By providing the air inlet channel 411, the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310 can be connected in gaseous form, so that the exhaust gas can pass through the first air inlet 121, the air inlet channel 411 and the second air inlet 310 in sequence and enter the exhaust muffler 300; by providing the air outlet channel 412, the first air outlet 122 and the second air outlet 320 can be connected in gaseous form, so that the exhaust gas inside the exhaust muffler 300 can pass through the second air outlet 320, the air outlet channel 412 and the first air outlet 122 in sequence and flow out into the exhaust tail pipe 710. In the embodiments of the present disclosure, to reduce the noise and vibration generated by gas flow, the first air inlet 121, the second air inlet 310, and the air inlet channel 411 can be of equal size and arranged directly opposite each other, and the first air outlet 122, the second air outlet 320, and the air outlet channel 412 can be of equal size and arranged directly opposite each other. In addition, with this design, when the wall of the second chamber 120 is spaced apart from the exhaust muffler 300 (i.e., there is a gap between the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310), the first air inlet 121 and the second air inlet 310 can be connected without the need for additional piping, saving costs and assembly difficulty.

[0051] In order to facilitate wrapping the thermal insulation pad around the outer periphery of the exhaust muffler 300, referring to FIG1 , in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the thermal insulation pad may include a first portion 410 and a second portion 420. The first portion 410 is configured to be open on one side (e.g., open upward), and the second portion 420 is used to be buckled at the opening of the first portion 410. The first portion 410 and the second portion 420 form a receiving space 430. During installation, the shell-shaped first portion 410 is first arranged in the second chamber 120, and then the exhaust muffler 300 is assembled in the first portion 410. Finally, the second portion 420 is buckled at the opening of the first portion 410 and pressed against the exhaust muffler 300.

[0052] 1-2 , in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the second chamber 120 can be constructed as a shell with an opening on one side (e.g., an upward opening), and the oil pan assembly 1 can also include an oil-proof baffle 500, which is provided at the opening of the second chamber 120. With such a design, the oil-proof baffle 500 can form a sealed space with the second chamber 120. On the one hand, it can prevent impurities such as engine oil from entering the interior of the second chamber 120 and protect the exhaust muffler 300. On the other hand, it can facilitate pressing the second part 420 of the above-mentioned thermal insulation pad against the upper side of the exhaust muffler 300, thereby improving the wrapping of the thermal insulation pad and reducing the heat released from the exhaust muffler 300. In addition, the design of this detachable cover facilitates the disassembly and assembly of the exhaust muffler 300. When installation or disassembly is required, the oil-proof baffle 500 can be opened.

[0053] 2 , to ensure a seal between the oil-proof baffle 500 and the second chamber 120, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, a sealing portion 600 may be provided between the oil-proof baffle 500 and the second chamber 120. The present disclosure does not limit the specific form of the sealing portion 600, which may be a sealant applied between the two, or a sealing gasket provided between the two.

[0054] In order to divert engine oil returning from the engine into the second chamber 120, referring to FIG4 , in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the upper end surface 501 of the oil-proof baffle 500 may be provided with a guide groove 510 for directing engine oil that falls onto the upper end surface 501 of the oil-proof baffle 500 into the first chamber 110. Specifically, in the embodiment shown in FIG4 , the upper end surface of the oil-proof baffle 500 may be arcuately concave, and the guide groove 510 may be provided at the bottom of the concave structure of the upper end surface 501. This arcuately concave structure allows engine oil that falls onto the upper end surface 501 of the oil-proof baffle 500 to flow into the guide groove 510 under the action of gravity, and then flow into the first chamber 110 through the guide groove 510. It should be noted that the present disclosure does not limit the structure of the guide groove 510; it may be a straight line as shown in FIG4 , or in other embodiments, it may be a curved shape.

[0055] Since the oil pan assembly 1 needs to be assembled on the lower side of the engine body, and the engine body has a rotating crankshaft, and the crankshaft is located near the oil baffle 500, in order to prevent the oil baffle 500 from interfering with the rotation of the crankshaft, referring to FIG4 , in the embodiment of the present disclosure, the upper end surface 501 of the oil baffle 500 can be formed with a relief portion 520, and the relief portion 520 is used to avoid the movement of the engine crankshaft. In the embodiment of the present disclosure, the relief portion 520 can be the above-mentioned arc-shaped concave structure. In some other embodiments, the relief portion 520 can also be other relief structures adaptively opened on the top surface of the oil baffle 500 according to the crankshaft envelope.

[0056] In order to enable the exhaust muffler 300 arranged in the second chamber 120 to be in gaseous communication with the exhaust catalytic converter 720 and the exhaust tail pipe 710 at both ends, referring to Figures 4 and 6, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the first air outlet 122 can be provided with a first connector 210, and the first connector 210 is used to connect to the exhaust tail pipe 710, and the first air inlet 121 can be provided with a second connector 220, and the second connector 220 is used to connect to the exhaust catalytic converter 720. The present disclosure does not limit the specific structure of the first connector 210 and the second connector 220, which can be a flange structure or a clamp structure. Accordingly, the exhaust tail pipe 710 and the exhaust catalytic converter 720 also need to be provided with connectors used in conjunction with the clamp or flange, which will not be described in detail.

[0057] 1 , in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the oil pan assembly 1 further comprises an oil drain plug 800 disposed at the bottom end of the first chamber 110. The oil drain plug 800 is used to drain the oil stored in the first chamber 110 by unscrewing and removing the oil drain plug 800 when the engine needs maintenance.

[0058] 7 , according to a second aspect of the present disclosure, an engine 2 is provided, comprising an engine body 3 and the above-mentioned oil pan assembly 1, wherein the oil pan assembly 1 is assembled on the lower side of the engine body 3. Since the engine 2 has all the beneficial effects of the above-mentioned oil pan assembly 1, they will not be described in detail here.

[0059] 8 , according to a third aspect of the present disclosure, a vehicle 4 is provided, comprising a vehicle body 5 and the aforementioned engine 2, wherein the engine 2 is disposed in the front compartment 6 or the rear compartment 7 of the vehicle body 5. Since the vehicle 4 has all the beneficial effects of the aforementioned engine 2, they will not be described in detail here.

[0060] The present disclosure does not limit the type of vehicle. For example, in some embodiments, vehicle 4 may be a hybrid vehicle. A hybrid vehicle may further include a battery pack 910 and two sill beams 920 symmetrically disposed on the vehicle body. The battery pack 910 may be directly secured between the two sill beams 920. In this case, the upper cover of the battery pack 910 may serve as the vehicle floor, thereby saving space in the vehicle's height direction. Alternatively, the upper cover of the battery pack may be eliminated, with the vehicle floor serving as its upper cover.

[0061] By integrating the exhaust muffler 300 into the space of the oil pan body 100 and installing it on the engine body, the exhaust tail pipe 710 connected to the exhaust muffler 300 can be arranged entirely near the engine's installation compartment without extending to the other end of the vehicle. In this way, compared to the traditional exhaust system layout scheme (the exhaust tail pipe needs to extend from one end of the vehicle to the other end), the battery pack layout space of the hybrid vehicle model can be increased, further improving the pure electric cruising range of the hybrid vehicle model. At the same time, this solution fixes the battery pack 910 directly on the door sill beam 920, and the stiffness of the battery pack 910 can be used to improve the torsional stiffness of the entire vehicle. In addition, for projects where hybrid and pure electric vehicles are developed on the same platform, the present disclosure allows hybrid and pure electric vehicles to use the same battery pack 910 and battery pack fixing structure (door sill beam 920).

[0062] The preferred embodiments of the present disclosure are described in detail above in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. However, the present disclosure is not limited to the specific details of the above embodiments. Within the technical concept of the present disclosure, various simple modifications can be made to the technical solutions of the present disclosure, and these simple modifications all fall within the scope of protection of the present disclosure.

[0063] It should also be noted that the various specific technical features described in the above specific embodiments can be combined in any appropriate manner without contradiction. In order to avoid unnecessary repetition, the present disclosure will not further describe various possible combinations.

[0064] In addition, the various embodiments of the present disclosure may be arbitrarily combined, and as long as they do not violate the concept of the present disclosure, they should also be regarded as the contents disclosed by the present disclosure.
