Abstract

A first light detection device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure comprises: a semiconductor substrate (11) that has a first surface and a second surface facing each other and is provided with an avalanche photodiode (12); a photoelectric conversion layer (17) that is laminated on the first surface side of the semiconductor substrate (11) and that generates, by photoelectric conversion, a carrier corresponding to the amount of received light; and an intermediate layer (19A) that is provided on at least one among a facing surface of the photoelectric conversion layer (17) facing the semiconductor substrate (11), and a surface of the photoelectric conversion layer (17) on the opposite side from the facing surface, and that includes a material different from that of the photoelectric conversion layer (17).
