AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Traditional gated pipe irrigation systems face challenges in efficiently controlling and monitoring a large number of individual automated gated pipe valves over long distances, due to high costs and complexity associated with wireless communication and cable infrastructure.

Method used

A wireless communications module and system that subdivides the irrigation system into sections, each with a wireless communication module connected to a central processing system, allowing for independent control of gate valves through wireless communication, reducing the need for long cables and complex wireless networks.

Benefits of technology

This solution significantly reduces the complexity and cost of controlling numerous automated gated pipe valves by minimizing the number of wireless communication endpoints and reducing cable lengths, thereby enhancing the efficiency and reliability of irrigation system operations.

Abstract

This invention relates to irrigation systems. Previously, there was no good system for controlling many valves in a large irrigation system. Embodiments of the present invention use a plurality of sections of irrigation pipe. A wireless communication module is coupled to one or more of the sections of irrigation pipe. A central processing system is in communication with the wireless communication module. A plurality of wireless automated gated pipe valve assemblies are coupled to the one or more of the sections of irrigation pipe. Each of the wireless automated gated pipe valve assemblies includes one or more gate valves. Operation of the one or more gate valves is controlled by the central processing system.
