Abstract
Description
[0001] Description:
[0002] DRILLING AND / OR SCREWING TOOL
[0003] The invention relates to a drilling and / or screwing tool for manual use or for use in a motor-driven tool according to the preamble of claim 1, claim 11 or claim 17.
[0004] EP 0 968 793 A2 discloses a tool comprising a shaft that allows the insertion of a tool for rotating the shaft at one end. A bit holder can be inserted at the other axial end, which in turn carries the bit required for the actual machining operation. However, the tool requires considerable space, particularly a large axial length. This imposes limitations, particularly in tight corners of furniture or similar small structures. This limits the possible applications.
[0005] The invention is based on the problem of creating an improvement here.
[0006] Confirmation copy The invention solves this problem by a tool having the features of claim 1 or claim 11 or claim 17. With regard to advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention, reference is made to the further claims 2 to 10, 12 to 16 and 18 to 19.
[0007] Because in a drilling and / or screwdriving tool with an axially extending shaft and with an axial inner receiving channel, which has a rotation-proof insertion option for a torque-transmitting unit at two axially opposite ends, at least one insertion option can be secured via radially inwardly projecting ends of a holding wire that runs around part of the circumference of the shaft, a torque-transmitting unit can be inserted at at least one axial end up to the holding means, so that the shaft can be kept very short and can therefore be used more easily even in tight corner areas. In particular, such holding means are provided for both axial ends of the shaft in order to achieve a drive side on one side and an output side on the other.
[0008] Such a holding wire is also very light and inexpensive.
[0009] The torque-transmitting units used do not have to be bits or similar devices themselves, but can be used as holders for bits or similar tools, eliminating the need for any special bits. Existing standard tools can therefore continue to be used.
[0010] The retaining elements can therefore be optimally arranged in two units, axially close to one another in the axial center area. This allows both axial ends to be used equally for securing torque-transmitting units. Both inserted torque-transmitting units can then be inserted into the axial center area.
[0011] The shaft can be kept particularly short to ensure minimal tool dimensions. The manufacturing of the retaining wires is also particularly cost-effective.
[0012] If two axially spaced retaining wires are provided for each of the retaining units, the drive and output sides can be secured in the same way.
[0013] Advantageously, the ends of the at least one retaining wire initially extend radially inward at right angles from the section of the retaining wire that partially encircles the circumference. In this plane, they can then each form an open loop and thus securely engage in a circumferential, groove-like groove of the torque-transmitting unit.
[0014] In particular, the retaining wire is made of spring steel so that it can spring back and lock into its holding position. The wire diameter can be small, ranging from approximately 0.6 to 1.0 millimeters, and very advantageously, approximately 0.8 millimeters.
[0015] As long as the retaining wire runs around the circumference of the shaft at an angle of 140° to 220°, a good hold of the retaining wire on the shaft is guaranteed. On the other hand, a large area of the shaft remains unweakened by a groove for the retaining wire.
[0016] The retaining wire conveniently wraps around the circumference of the shaft at an angle of approximately 180°. This secures it to the point where it won't come off even if it's threaded incorrectly—even without a radially outer sliding sleeve.
[0017] In any case, however, such an outer, axially displaceable sliding sleeve can be provided, which is secured against axial withdrawal by at least one circlip. This allows a high radial force to be exerted. At the same time, even a slight displacement of the sliding sleeve may be sufficient to move the retaining means into a position behind the inner cutouts of the sliding sleeve, thus releasing them sufficiently so that an otherwise retained torque-transmitting unit can be easily withdrawn.
[0018] If the anti-twist insertion option forms a hexagon socket at least in its axially outer edge area, each torque-transmitting unit inserted into the shaft can form an external hexagon, thus ensuring secure and slip-free torque transmission. Other holding profiles are also possible, for example, a 12- or 18-edge profile, or a Torx or star shape. For maximum flexibility, both insertion options can have different wrench widths.
[0019] If, according to the embodiment according to claim 11, the drilling and / or screwing tool with an axially extending shaft and with an axial inner receiving channel, which has a rotation-proof insertion option for a torque-transmitting unit at two axially opposite ends, at least one of which has a hexagon socket, one or each hexagon socket has walls that taper conically away from the open end in the region of its axially open end, then, for example, a nut that is placed on a screw can be gripped in the conical end, wherein the screw can protrude into the inner receiving channel. Advantageously, a wrench size SW7 for receiving an M4 nut can be implemented in the region of the walls that taper conically away from the open end, in order to be able to grip such a frequently used nut in the conical area.
[0020] In particular, to ensure a secure hold, the area of the walls tapering conically away from the open end has an axial extension of at least five millimeters.
[0021] In particular, one hexagon socket has an inner dimension of 10 millimeters, and another hexagon socket has an inner dimension of 13 millimeters. Other dimensions, including inch dimensions, are also possible. This allows adaptation to various other tool holders or drive shafts by rotating the shaft. The shaft's application possibilities can therefore be significantly expanded by rotating and exchanging the drive and output sides.
[0022] If the shaft has a stop for an engaging torque-transmitting unit in the axial center of the receiving channel, effective from each axial side, units can be inserted from both sides and advanced to this stop. This minimizes the length of the shaft. In particular, the torque-transmitting unit on the drive side, i.e., ultimately the drive shaft, can be inserted up to approximately the axial center of the shaft, thus enabling a particularly short shaft.
[0023] In particular, the drive shaft can also be recessed in its radially inner region to form a receiving space. Thus, this first torque-transmitting unit can accommodate a bit from the second torque-transmitting unit in its radially inner region without having to extend the length of the shaft. Therefore, even if the second torque-transmitting unit, for example, a bit holder on the output side, is equipped with two bits, this second unit can be inserted into the shaft in any orientation.
[0024] This makes it easy to connect the drilling and / or screwing tool axially at one end to a motor shaft of a drive via a first torque-transmitting unit - or even with a handle to form the drive and, if necessary, to reach tight corners.
[0025] In the embodiment according to claim 17, in a drilling and / or screwing tool with an axially extending shaft and with an axial inner receiving channel, which has a rotationally secured insertion option for a torque-transmitting unit at each of two axially opposite ends, a head part can be placed on at least one of the torque-transmitting units, which head part is provided with a magnetic force pointing axially outwards from the drilling and / or screwing tool and can hold a screw or similar working tool thereon, thus opening up the possibility of magnetically holding the screw or the like. At the same time, it is not mandatory that this head part be placed on. The minimum tool length without the head part can therefore be maintained.
[0026] Particularly advantageously, the head section can be mounted on the torque-transmitting unit in two positions rotated 180° to each other. Then, in the second position, the head section can be pushed slightly away from the drilling and / or screwdriving tool, forming the axially furthest forward end and thus making contact with a screw or similar tool before an inserted bit. Alternatively, in the first insertion position, the head section can be tightened directly to the shaft, so that the bit inserted at the front end remains visible, thus facilitating orientation during screwing.
[0027] In the mounted position, the head part can be axially displaced by several millimeters relative to the torque-transmitting unit that supports it, so that the screw can be easily removed from the magnetic end.
[0028] To prevent a sudden, excessive torque from the driving first torque-transmitting unit, which could loosen a screw head, this unit can be equipped with an elastically deformable torsion element that, when inserted into the shaft, establishes torque-transmitting contact with it. This element can be optimized for elasticity and sliding properties.
[0029] To facilitate the replacement of a worn torsion element, it can be pushed onto the first torque-transmitting unit and easily replaced.
[0030] The head part is particularly axially secured, but rotatable relative to the torque-transmitting unit that supports it, so that the head part can stop its rotational movement when it hits material, thus keeping the surface of the workpiece free from damage.
[0031] Further advantages and features of the invention will become apparent from embodiments of the subject matter of the invention, some of which are illustrated in the drawing and described below.

[0047] Fig. 17 the magnetic head part in cross-sectional view.
[0048] The drilling and / or screwdriving tool 1 shown in Figure 1 in a first version comprises an axially extending shaft 2 provided with an axial inner receiving channel 3, as can be clearly seen in Figures 3 and 4. The shaft 2 forms, at two axially opposite ends 4, 5, a rotation-locked insertion option for a torque-transmitting unit 6 or 7, respectively, which will be discussed in more detail below. The tool 1 can be driven in the rotational direction either manually, for example via an axial handle or a ratchet, or by a motor drive, for example a cordless screwdriver. Drives are not shown here.
[0049] At least one of the insertion options mentioned—here, both—has an axial position lock for a torque-transmitting unit 6 or 7. According to this version of the drawing, both insertion options, located 180° opposite each other, are provided with retaining means 8 that protrude radially inward and can be pressed inward from the radial outside by spring force. These can engage with inserted torque-transmitting units 6, 7 and then form axial position locks for them.
[0050] As can be seen in Figure 1, these holding means 8 can be designed as one or more holding wires 8a. These comprise radially inwardly projecting ends 9, which are axially symmetrical to one another. Here, the plug-in torque-transmitting units 6, 7 each have a circumferential groove 10 shaped as a concave groove, into which the ends 9 of the holding means 8 can engage, as shown in Figure 8, to protect against axial withdrawal.
[0051] The retaining wires 8a themselves are received in grooves 11 that partially or completely surround the shaft 2, each of which is drilled out in the area of the ends 9 to such an extent that these ends 9 penetrate the shaft 2 there and can thus engage with pressure in the units 6 and / or 7 held radially inward therein in the area of their grooves 10. This penetration can be clearly seen in Figure 5.
[0052] In the exemplary embodiment, two axially spaced-apart holding wires 8a (one for each of the units 6, 7) are provided.
[0053] The ends 9 of the at least one retaining wire 8a are initially bent radially inward at right angles around a vertical axis from the portion of the retaining wire 8a that partially encircles the circumference. In this plane, they each form an open loop 12 or similar annular structure formed around a horizontal axis.
[0054] Thus, the at least one retaining wire 8a can engage with the edges of the open loops 12 in a complementarily shaped groove 10 of the at least one retaining means 8. To ensure this engagement with sufficient pressure and thus durability, the retaining wire 8a is made of spring steel and has a wire diameter of approximately 0.6 to 1.0 millimeters.
[0055] In addition, the holding wire 8a can run around the circumference of the shaft 2 over an angle of 140° to 220° in order to find a good hold in the respective groove 11 there as well.
[0056] A good option is for the retaining wire to run around the circumference of the shaft 2 over an angle of approximately 180°.
[0057] Furthermore, as shown in Figures 10 to 14, it is possible for the retaining wire 8a to be encompassed in the holding position by an axially displaceable locking sleeve 27, which can be held in the axial position by a spring-loaded locking device 28, for example, a circlip. This locking sleeve 27 thus comprises a radially outwardly biased spring and must therefore be released manually, for example, with the fingertip, so that accidental release of the pressure element is impossible.
[0058] After loosening, i.e., axially displacing, the locking sleeve 27, the ends 9 of the retaining wire 8a can be moved radially outward such that the torque-transmitting unit(s) 6, 7 can be axially withdrawn or inserted. Depending on the tension of the retaining wire 8a, such a locking sleeve 27 is not absolutely necessary.
[0059] According to the drawing, the anti-twist insertion option forms a hexagon socket 13, 14 at least in its axially outer edge area 4, 5. These hexagon socket shapes can vary. For example, here, one has a dimension of M 10 at the axial end, while the opposite end 4 has a dimension of M 13. These dimensions are only examples, but are very common. Imperial dimensions are of course also possible. It is not mandatory on which side a drive-side unit 6 and on which side an output-side unit 7, for example a bit holder, engages.
[0060] As can be clearly seen in Figures 8 and 9, a drilling and / or screwing tool 1 with an axially extending shaft 2 and with an axial inner receiving channel 3, which has a rotation-proof insertion option for a torque-transmitting unit 6, 7 at two axially opposite ends 4, 5, at least one of which has a hexagon socket 13, 14, can be designed such that one or each hexagon socket 13, 14 has walls 30 which taper conically away from the open end 29 in the region of its axially open end 29.
[0061] These walls 30, which taper conically away from the open end 29, have a wrench size of SW7 for accommodating an M4 nut. This allows the shaft 2 to be used without a bit holder 7, for example, to screw in or unscrew a nut. For this purpose, a threaded bolt, on which this nut sits, can penetrate very deeply into the receiving channel 3.
[0062] The area of the walls 30 tapering conically away from the open end 29 has an axial extension of at least five millimeters, so that the opening width varies in the area of the inclined walls 30 and also allows for the accommodation of various nuts. The conical opening angle here is 14° relative to the vertical axis.
[0063] Advantageously, the shaft 2 is provided in the axially central region of the receiving channel 3 with a stop 15, effective from each axial side, for an engaging torque-transmitting unit 6, 7. These units can thus be inserted up to this stop 15, and thus very far—almost to axial contact with each other—separated from each other only by the narrow stop 15. The shaft 2 can thus be kept extremely short axially, resulting in maximum flexibility and expanded application possibilities.
[0064] As already described above, the drilling and / or screwdriving tool 1 can be connected axially at one end of its shaft 2 - here at end 4 - via a first torque-transmitting unit 6 to a motor shaft of a drive. As can be seen in Figures 3 and 4, this first torque-transmitting unit 6 is recessed in its radially inner region to form a receiving space 16. This allows, for example, the bit holder 7 inserted opposite it to be equipped with bits 17, 18 or similar insert tools at both ends when inserted. The second torque-transmitting unit 7 can thus also be inserted into the shaft 2 in two differently turned positions. Each of the bits 17, 18 or other insert tools can then engage in the receiving space 16 of the first torque-transmitting unit 6.
[0065] A drilling and / or screwing tool with an axially extending shaft 2 and with an axial inner receiving channel 3, which has a rotation-locked insertion option for a torque-transmitting unit 6, 7 at each of two axially opposite ends 4, 5, thus in particular also a drilling and / or screwing tool of the type described, can make it possible for a head part 19 to be placed on at least one of the torque-transmitting units 6, 7. This head part 19 is provided with a magnetic force directed axially outward from the drilling and / or screwing tool 1 and can hold a screw 20 or similar working medium thereon. This head part 19 can itself be held mechanically and / or (partially) magnetically, in particular on a second torque-transmitting unit 7, onto which it can be placed radially outward and axially secured.
[0066] To ensure its secure attachment to the unit 7, the head portion 19 itself is provided with retaining means 21, in this case balls, which can be axially displaced by a few millimeters in axial slots 22. These balls are also preloaded radially inwardly by a spring collar, thus achieving releasable axial retention. An annular groove 25 is also provided here as a counterpart on the torque-transmitting unit 7.
[0067] The head portion 19 can be placed on the torque-transmitting unit 7 in two positions rotated by 180° to each other. Two magnets are inserted into the torque-transmitting unit 7 around these different positions. These magnets attract each other and can thus hold each other and the inserted bits 16, 17 in place. To ensure attraction between the magnets, they are aligned so that the north pole of one magnet meets the south pole of the other. The external effect therefore varies depending on which way the torque-transmitting unit 7 is inserted into the shaft 2. The magnetic north pole of the magnet can be at the top; if the torque-transmitting unit 7 were rotated by 180°, this would be the other way around. Since the head portion 19 itself is magnetic, it can be held in two different positions with maximum attraction or maximum repulsion. At the same time, in both cases, it is mechanically held in place by the balls 21, which engage in a groove 25 of the bit holder 7, so that the maximum possible displacement path is defined by the length of the slots 22. Thus, in the mounted position, always aligned with the screw 20, the head portion 19 can be axially displaced by several millimeters relative to the torque-transmitting unit 7 that supports it—depending on the orientation of this unit 7.
[0068] The head portion 19 can accommodate a ring magnet (not shown) in an annular gap 26 at the outward-facing end of the head portion. A neodymium magnet is particularly suitable for this purpose. In particular, the magnet is provided in an annular groove at the axially front end of the head portion 19.
[0069] In the first position, the head part is pulled as far as possible towards the shaft 2, so that the person operating the tool 1 can have a good view of the screw head - both with manual and motor drive.
[0070] In the second position, the head part 19 is pushed away from the axial end of the shaft 2 of the drilling and / or screwing tool 1 by a certain distance (a few millimeters of travel are provided for axial mobility), so that the head part 10 forms the end that projects furthest forward axially and thus comes into contact with a screw 20 or a similar working tool before an inserted bit 17, 18 does.
[0071] The head portion 19 is not rotationally fixed to the torque-transmitting unit 7, but can be secured against axial withdrawal by the retaining means (balls 21), which can rotate in the groove 25 of the unit 7. Although it can rotate around the unit 7, it can also rotate around the unit 7. Therefore, for example, when screwing a screw 20 into solid material, the head portion 19 can initially rotate with the unit 7 and the bit 17, 18, but stops rotating when the screw head is flush with the material and the head portion 19 thus touches the material. This has the advantage that the surface of the material is not damaged. List of reference symbols:
