Description

[0001] Method for assembling a chassis component

[0002] The invention relates to a method for mounting a chassis component on a motor vehicle body. Furthermore, the invention relates to an assembly.

[0003] DE 10 2018 102 745 A1 discloses a mounting system for the elastic mounting of a suspension strut or a vibration damper on a vehicle body. A body-side mounting cup is provided, into which the bearing unit can be inserted. A fixing device is also disclosed, which secures the bearing unit from being pulled out of the mounting cup. The bearing unit has at least one elastomer bearing for the elastic mounting of a piston rod. As a result, the body essentially functions as a bearing housing for a rubber bearing or elastomer bearing.

[0004] However, it is not known from the current state of the art how this assembly can be designed particularly efficiently.

[0005] Accordingly, the object of this invention is to provide a possibility by which a particularly practical and efficient assembly of a chassis component on the body is made possible.

[0006] This object is achieved according to the invention by a method having the features of patent claim 1 and by an arrangement according to the invention. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent patent claims and the description.

[0007] One aspect of the invention relates to a method for assembling a chassis component on a body of a motor vehicle, with the method steps in chronological order:

[0008] - a corresponding mount for a rubber mount is manufactured in an area of the body;

[0009] - the rubber bearing is inserted into the holder;

[0010] - a bearing core is positioned and fixed in the rubber bearing; and - the chassis component designed as an axle carrier is mounted and fixed to the body by means of a screw element that can be inserted into the bearing core.

[0011] After describing the basic sequence of assembly steps, the technical implementation and production of the components will now be presented in more detail.

[0012] The process of molding a body section begins with the creation of a special mold in the area of the body where the retainer will later be machined. This molding is often achieved through precision-controlled machining or molding techniques.

[0013] The holder is manufactured using aluminum die-casting, in which the selected aluminum alloy is melted in a melting furnace and the molten aluminum is injected into the prepared mold under high pressure. During the die-casting process, the aluminum takes on the exact shape of the holder, adhering to specified tolerances. After the molten aluminum is injected into the mold, it begins to solidify and assumes the desired shape. During this phase, the component is stabilized by cooling and acquires the required strength.

[0014] Once the aluminum has completely solidified, the mold is opened, and the cast component—in this case, the body section with the mount—is removed. If necessary, post-processing can be performed, for example, to remove excess material or refine surfaces.

[0015] Finally, the finished body section with the manufactured mount is attached to the vehicle. Further assembly of the rubber mount, the bearing core, and the axle carrier follows the previously described process steps.

[0016] By adapting a connection point and integrating the rubber mount into the body thanks to the mount, vertical space is gained. This additional space opens up possibilities for integrating components in the interior or underfloor of the vehicle. This allows for additional functions and open spaces to be created without changing the vehicle's external dimensions. The described assembly method and the consideration of the vertical space gain contribute to further optimized space utilization, increased comfort, and improved technical possibilities in vehicle design.

[0017] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that a gain in installation space in a vertical direction is used to move a connection point upwards or downwards relative to its current position.

[0018] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that a gain in installation space in the horizontal direction is used to make the movement limit envelope significantly smaller and thereby provide increased rear axle steering angles.

[0019] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the receptacle is manufactured by means of an aluminum die-cast construction.

[0020] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the holder is manufactured by means of CNC machining.

[0021] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the receptacle is produced by means of additive manufacturing.

[0022] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the rubber bearing is secured to the receptacle by means of a first locking element. This is intended to provide a stable and reliable connection, for example, to minimize vibrations, movements, or other undesirable effects.

[0023] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the bearing core is secured to the rubber bearing by means of a second locking element. This is intended to provide a stable and reliable connection, for example, to minimize vibrations, movements, or other undesirable effects.

[0024] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the respective locking elements are inserted into respective receptacles during assembly. For example, the locking elements can be designed as ring elements that are inserted into corresponding receptacles and prevent axial movement of the bearing core and the rubber bearing relative to the receptacle.

[0025] A further aspect of the invention relates to an arrangement of a chassis component on a body of a motor vehicle, in which a rubber bearing is inserted into a corresponding receptacle pressed into a region of the body and in which a bearing core, which is placed inside the rubber bearing, is positioned and securely fixed in it for mounting the chassis component designed as an axle carrier on the body, wherein the chassis component is held by means of a screw element which can be inserted into the bearing core.

[0026] Further features of the invention emerge from the claims, the figures, and the description of the figures. The features and combinations of features mentioned above in the description, as well as the features and combinations of features mentioned below in the description of the figures and / or shown alone in the figures, can be used not only in the respective specified combination, but also in other combinations or on their own.

[0027] The invention will now be explained in more detail using a preferred embodiment and with reference to the drawings. It shows:

[0028] Fig. 1 shows a schematic cross section of an arrangement of a

[0029] Chassis component on a motor vehicle body.

[0030] Fig. 1 shows in a schematic cross-section an arrangement of a chassis component 14 on a body 12 of a motor vehicle 10.

[0031] The various components and their interaction are shown in cross-section to illustrate a method for assembling the chassis component 14.

[0032] A rubber bearing 16 is inserted into a corresponding receptacle 18 pressed into a specific area of the body 12. This receptacle 18 was specifically provided to precisely accommodate the rubber bearing 16 and fix it in a predetermined position. The corresponding shape of the receptacle 18 and the rubber bearing 16 ensures that a particularly precise and stable connection is established. A bearing core 22 is placed or positioned within the rubber bearing 16. This bearing core 22 is designed to keep the subsequent assembly of the chassis component 14, designed as an axle carrier 14a, on the body 12 movable. The bearing core 22 is therefore precisely positioned within the rubber bearing 16 to provide particularly pronounced stability and alignment.

[0033] The bearing core 22 is securely and firmly fixed inside the rubber bearing 16. This can be achieved by screwing, pressing, or other suitable methods. This fixation ensures that the bearing core 22 remains in its position and does not slip during operation of the motor vehicle 10. Furthermore, an additional locking element can also be provided, which is designed to lock the bearing core 22.

[0034] The chassis component 14, designed as an axle carrier 14a, is attached to the body 12. This is done using a corresponding screw element 24, which is inserted into the previously positioned and fixed bearing core 22. Tightening the screw element 24 enables a connection between the axle carrier 14a and the body 12.

[0035] During manufacture of the receptacle 18, it is possible to directly machine it as a special receptacle 18 in a predefined area 20 of the body 12 in order to later insert the rubber mount 16. This receptacle 18 can be created by various methods such as precision machining or molding to provide a predetermined fit with a predetermined tolerance range for the rubber mount 16.

[0036] It is possible to use an aluminum die-casting process as a manufacturing method for creating the mount in the body, which enables precise, lightweight, and complex machining of aluminum components. Such a process includes, for example, the following steps:

[0037] The molding of the body area where the holder 18 will be incorporated is carried out. The selected aluminum alloy is heated in a melting furnace until it is liquid and injected into the mold under high pressure to create precise structures and tolerances for the holder 18. Solidification and cooling are then provided, during which the liquid aluminum solidifies and assumes the desired shape with the holder 18. The mold is opened, and the cast component is removed and attached to the motor vehicle 10. However, it is also possible to carry out post-processing prior to this.

[0038] This assembly method also makes it possible to take advantage of the space gain in the vertical Z direction to move a connection point up or down relative to its current position. This opens up expanded possibilities for the integration of components in the interior or underfloor of the vehicle 10, which in turn makes it possible to design additional components or free spaces. The vertical adjustment enables optimized space utilization and allows the integration of comfort and technical elements without changing the overall dimensions of the vehicle.

[0039] A further increase in installation space in the horizontal Y direction can also be used to significantly reduce the movement envelope of the rear axle support. This reduction in the movement envelope allows for an increase in the rear axle steering angle. This extension of the steering angle can have a positive impact on the vehicle's agility, maneuverability, and handling.

[0040] Finally, it is also possible to use a first locking element to secure the rubber bearing (16) to the specially manufactured holder (18). This provides a reliable connection between the rubber bearing 16 and the holder 18, enabling safe operation of the chassis component. A second locking element fixes the bearing core (22) inside the rubber bearing (16). This allows the bearing core 22 to maintain its position during assembly and operation, contributing to the stability of the overall component.

[0041] The locking elements are inserted into special receptacles designed to securely hold the locking elements. These locking elements can be designed as rings that utilize corresponding receptacles on the inner circumference to provide an efficient and secure connection.

[0042] The use of locking elements not only improves assembly but also increases the overall stability of the assembly. These locking elements help secure the positions of rubber bearing 16 and bearing core 22, improving the reliability and service life of the chassis component. In summary, the invention describes a design for an elastic connection between the body structure and the chassis.
