Description

[0001] Drone recording system and method for landing a drone

[0002] Technical area

[0003] The invention relates to a drone capture system with a capture device for capturing a drone. The invention also relates to a method for landing a drone.

[0004] State of the art

[0005] US 2019 / 233107 A1 relates to a vertical takeoff and landing aerial drone, and in particular to a VTOL flight platform with interchangeable and removable cabins. The aerial drone comprises a left main wing and a right main wing, a left canard and a right canard, a main body disposed between the left main wing and the right main wing, a left linear support connecting the left main wing to the left canard, and a right linear support connecting the right main wing to the right canard. The left linear support has a first, a second, and a third lifting propeller and a left vertical stabilizer, and the right linear support has a fourth, a fifth, and a sixth lifting propeller and a right vertical stabilizer. The aerial drone comprises at least one pusher propeller, a cargo cabin and a passenger cabin, which are interchangeably and detachably connected to the flight platform.

[0006] The aerial drone uses different types of landing gear for takeoff and landing. For example, the document discloses folding legs that can be retracted into the interior of the left and right linear struts during flight. A disadvantage of the known prior art is that specially secured infrastructure areas must be provided for the takeoff and landing of such aerial drones. These infrastructure areas are usually located away from buildings or on the flat roofs of buildings. This makes access to cargo transported in such aerial drones, for example, at the very least difficult. This is particularly disadvantageous in the case of time-critical or urgent medical cargo, because the cargo must be brought to the secured takeoff area before the aerial drone is loaded at the launch site and picked up from the secured landing area after landing at the destination.

[0007] Description of the invention

[0008] The object of the invention is to create a drone recording system belonging to the aforementioned technical field that at least partially overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, the object of the invention is to create a drone recording system that enables efficient loading and unloading of cargo from an aerial drone.

[0009] The solution to the problem is defined by the features of claim 1. The invention comprises a drone recording system with a recording device for recording a drone, wherein the recording device is designed to be arranged on a substantially vertical structure. Additionally, the drone recording system comprises a drone with a holding means, wherein the holding means is designed to arrange the drone on the recording device.

[0010] This provides the technical advantage, for example, that a drone can be positioned directly against a substantially vertical structure. For example, the drone can be landed directly against a facade opening, such as a loading and unloading opening or a window. This provides immediate access to the drone once it has landed and positioned against the vertical structure. This offers the particular technical advantage that no secured infrastructure area needs to be provided for positioning or landing such drones. These secured infrastructure areas are usually located away from buildings or on the flat roofs of buildings, which is why, for example, access to cargo that can be transported in such drones is directly possible through a loading and unloading opening or a corresponding window in the vertical facade. This results in significant time savings, especially in the case of time-critical or urgent medical cargo.

[0011] In other words, the drone can land time-critical cargo directly at the loading and unloading opening of a building, such as a hospital, by landing on the vertical structure, allowing for very quick and uncomplicated unloading. The loading process of such a drone is also correspondingly advantageous when positioned at the loading and unloading opening.

[0012] A substantially vertical structure within the meaning of this invention can be, for example, the facade of a building. "Substantially vertical" means that facades with a roof pitch angle of, for example, up to 30°, or up to 45°, or up to 60° can also be included. The roof pitch angle is understood to be the angle that the roof pitch forms in relation to the horizontal.

[0013] If a drone is mounted on a vertical structure, then, for the purposes of this invention, this means that the drone has landed directly on the vertical structure from a flight position and is mounted on the vertical structure. Accordingly, the drone can be directly detached from this mounted position and transferred to the flight position. In other words, the drone recording system according to the invention enables both landing on the vertical structure and taking off from this vertical structure.

[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment, the receiving device has a target surface for arranging the holding means, wherein the target surface can be aligned almost parallel to the vertical structure. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that the target surface provides a clear guide for the drone to place the drone's holding means at the correct location on the receiving device. In other words, the drone must be approached to the receiving device so precisely for landing that the holding means directly hits the target surface in order to arrange the drone on the receiving device. According to an advantageous embodiment, the receiving device comprises a locking unit for locking the holding means. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that the drone is fixed at the intended location on the target surface.Once the drone is locked, it is sufficiently safe to access it immediately. This offers the technical advantage that cargo transported in such drones can be accessed directly through a loading and unloading opening or a corresponding window in the vertical facade.

[0015] According to a preferred embodiment, the locking unit can be moved between an unlocked and a locked position. This provides the technical advantage, for example, of being able to switch in a controlled manner between a secured loading and unloading mode and a landing or takeoff mode.

[0016] According to a further preferred embodiment, the locking unit comprises a first clamping element and a second clamping element, wherein the first clamping element and the second clamping element are designed to be transferable relative to one another. This achieves, for example, the technical advantage of a particularly simple locking unit design. As a result, the locking unit is less susceptible to failure and functions very reliably.

[0017] According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the transfer of the first clamping element and the second clamping element between the unlocked position and the locked position can be carried out in a locking plane that is parallel to the target surface. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that the locking of the holding means can be carried out particularly easily. The holding means strikes the target surface, whereby the holding means is precisely aligned in a longitudinal axis direction. Because the first clamping element and the second clamping element move in the locking plane and can thus be transferred transversely to the longitudinal axis direction of the holding means for locking, locking and unlocking of the holding means can be carried out particularly easily. The risk of jamming or blocking the locking unit is low.Alternatively, the first clamping element and the second clamping element can be transferred between the unlocked position and the locked position by means of a rotational movement between the first and second clamping elements. The rotational movement can, for example, occur in a locking plane that is parallel to the target surface. Alternatively, it can also be orthogonal to the target surface.

[0018] To prevent the clamping elements from jamming with the holding means and to ensure precise positioning of the drone on the receiving device, the first clamping element has a first clamping contour and the second clamping element has a second clamping contour, wherein the clamping contours have an inclination angle α relative to each other. For example, the inclination angle α is less than 5°. According to another particular embodiment, the inclination angle α is more than 5° and less than 10°. According to an additional embodiment, the inclination angle α is more than 10°.

[0019] The inclination angle a is defined by the angle formed by the respective longitudinal axes of the first clamping contour and the second clamping contour.

[0020] According to a further preferred embodiment, the receiving device is designed to be pivotable about a horizontal transverse axis Q. In this case, the receiving device is fastened to the vertical structure. Pivoting about the horizontal transverse axis Q is thus to be understood as pivoting relative to the vertical structure itself. For example, the target surface is designed to be pivotable with respect to the receiving device about a hinge with an axis of rotation, wherein the axis of rotation is identical to the horizontal transverse axis Q. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that in the first step the holding means of the drone can be applied to the target surface in the flight state and locked with the locking unit. In the second step, the drone can be aligned almost parallel to the vertical structure by pivoting the target surface about the transverse axis Q.In this position, pivoted almost parallel to the vertical structure, the drone can be positioned directly against a facade opening, such as a loading / unloading opening or a window. This provides immediate access to the drone once it has landed and positioned against the vertical structure.

[0021] According to a further advantageous embodiment, the holding means of the drone has an articulated element. In contrast to the previous embodiment, the target surface does not have to be pivotable about a horizontal transverse axis Q with respect to the receiving device, thereby allowing a mechanically simpler solution to be implemented. As in the previous embodiment, this achieves the technical advantage that, in the first step, the holding means of the drone can be applied to the target surface in the flight state and locked with the locking unit. In the second step, the drone can be aligned almost parallel to the vertical structure by pivoting the articulated element of the holding means. In this state, pivoted almost parallel to the vertical structure, the drone can be arranged directly at a facade opening, such as a loading and unloading opening or a window. Thus, in this embodiment, there is also direct access to the drone when it is landed and positioned on the vertical structure.

[0022] According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the holding means of the drone comprises a spherical element. The spherical element is preferably arranged at the end of the holding means remote from the drone, whereby the spherical element comes into direct contact with the target surface as the drone approaches it. When the locking unit is locked, the first clamping element and the second clamping element are moved from the unlocked position to the locked position, whereby the clamping elements engage around the spherical element. As in the previous embodiments, this achieves the technical advantage that, in the first step, the holding means of the drone can be applied to the target surface in the flight state and locked with the locking unit. In the second step, the drone can be aligned almost parallel to the vertical structure by pivoting around the spherical element of the holding means. In this state, pivoted almost parallel to the vertical structure, the drone can be positioned directly against a facade opening, such as a loading and unloading opening or a window. Thus, this embodiment also provides direct access to the drone once it has landed and positioned against the vertical structure. The ball element has an important dual function. The first function is to provide a locking body that interacts with the locking unit or with the first clamping element and the second clamping element when moving from the unlocked position to the locked position. The second function is to provide an articulated body that enables the drone to be pivoted almost parallel to the vertical structure. This embodiment is therefore particularly simple to manufacture and can be operated almost trouble-free.

[0023] According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the transverse axis Q runs through the geometric center of the spherical element. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that the mounting device can be pivoted independently of the drone's position.

[0024] To improve the locking of the locking unit with the ball element when moving from the unlocked position to the locked position, the retaining means has a tapered section arranged adjacent to the ball element. Preferably, the length of the tapered section in a longitudinal direction of the retaining means corresponds to at least twice the diameter of the ball element. This achieves, for example, the technical advantage that the pivoting of the retaining means around the ball element is not impaired by the locked clamping elements of the locking unit.

[0025] According to a further particularly preferred embodiment, the locking unit is designed in a locked position so that the first clamping contour and the second clamping contour engage in the tapered section of the holding means and fix the ball element.

[0026] According to a further embodiment, the holding element has a contact region which is designed to exchange data and / or electrical current with the target surface. Preferably, both the target surface and the contact region of the holding element are made of an electrically conductive material. For example, the contact region is part of the surface of the spherical element, whereby contact is established directly when the holding means hits the target surface. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, of realizing reliable communication between the drone and the target surface. Furthermore, via the direct data exchange between the drone and the target surface, a signal can be transmitted which activates the locking unit and causes the clamping elements to move from the unlocked position to the locked position.

[0027] According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the drone has a spring-damper system designed to cushion the impact of the holding device on the target surface. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that the drone does not bounce back from the target surface after impact, and the impact is cushioned. This prevents damage and ensures reliable landing.

[0028] According to a further aspect of the invention, the object is achieved by the features of claim 13. According to this aspect, the invention comprises a method for landing a drone with a drone capture system according to one of the preceding embodiments. The method comprises the steps of applying the holding means of a drone to the target surface in a horizontal flight state of the drone, transferring the locking unit from the unlocked position to the locked position, and pivoting the drone from the horizontal flight state to a vertical position on the nearly vertically formed structure.

[0029] Alternatively, the invention can also be defined as a method for arranging a drone on a substantially vertical structure using a drone pickup system according to one of the preceding embodiments. This method comprises the steps of applying the holding means of a drone to the target surface in a horizontal flight state of the drone, transferring the locking unit from the unlocked position to the locked position, and pivoting the drone from the horizontal flight state into a vertical position on the almost vertically formed structure. By means of the method according to the invention, comparable technical advantages as those of independent claim 1 can be achieved. In particular, for example, the technical advantage is achieved that a drone can be landed or arranged directly on a vertical structure. For example, the drone can be positioned directly at a facade opening, such as a loading and unloading opening or a window. This provides immediate access to the drone once it has landed and positioned on the vertical structure. This offers the particular technical advantage that no secured infrastructure area needs to be provided for positioning or landing such drones. These secured infrastructure areas are usually located away from buildings or on the flat roofs of buildings, which is why, for example, cargo that can be transported in such drones can be directly accessed through a loading and unloading opening or a corresponding window in the vertical facade. This results in considerable time savings, especially in the case of time-critical or urgent medical cargo.

[0030] In other words, the drone can land time-critical cargo directly at the loading and unloading opening of a building, such as a hospital, by landing on the vertical structure, allowing for very quick and uncomplicated unloading. The loading process of such a drone is also correspondingly advantageous when positioned at the loading and unloading opening.

[0031] Another advantage is that the method according to the invention can be implemented particularly simply and efficiently. On the one hand, it can be implemented very quickly. On the other hand, the method offers a high level of safety for users because the drone is locked and there is no risk of accidents or injuries. Such risks can be caused, for example, by weather influences such as wind or faulty controls of the drone itself.

[0032] According to an advantageous embodiment, the first clamping contour and the second clamping contour engage in the tapered section of the holding means when the locking unit is transferred from the unlocked position to the locked position, thereby securing the ball element. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that locking the holding means is particularly simple and less susceptible to malfunctions. The clamping contours can more easily engage in the tapered section and thus securely fix the holding means. Another advantage is that the ball element of the holding means simultaneously specifies the center of rotation when pivoting the drone to the vertical structure. The engagement of the locking unit in the tapered section further simplifies the rotation of the drone, since the clamping contours simultaneously serve as bearings for the ball element.

[0033] According to an advantageous embodiment, the drone rotates around the ball element when pivoting from a horizontal flight position to a vertical position. This achieves the technical advantage, for example, that cargo that can be transported in such drones is directly accessible through a loading and unloading opening or a corresponding window in the vertical facade. This results in considerable time savings, especially in the case of time-critical or urgent medical cargo.

[0034] Further advantageous embodiments and combinations of features of the invention emerge from the following detailed description and the entirety of the patent claims.

[0048] Ways to implement the invention

[0049] Figure 1 shows a drone 300 striking a target surface 230 according to one embodiment of the invention. The target surface 230 is part of a receiving device 200, which serves to receive a drone 300 on a vertical structure 400. The vertical structure 400 can, for example, be the facade of a building, whereby the vertical structure 400 can also be a sloping roof or another inclined surface. The receiving device 200 comprises the target surface 230, which is formed almost parallel to the vertical structure 400. It is important for the orientation of the target surface 230 that it can be directly controlled by a drone 300 in flight. In other words, the target surface 230 should be oriented almost orthogonally to a nearly horizontally oriented flight plane of a drone 300. In addition to the target surface 230, the receiving device 200 comprises a locking unit 210 for locking a holding means 310 of the drone 300.

[0050] The locking unit 210 serves to lock and fix the drone 300 to the receiving device 200 and thus to the vertical structure 400. The locking unit 210 is designed to be transferable between an unlocked position and a locked position, wherein the locking unit 210 has a first clamping element 212 and a second clamping element 214. Figure 1A shows a first target surface 230A and a second target surface 230B, wherein each target surface 230A, 230B is assigned a first clamping element 212 and a second clamping element 214. On both the first target surface 230A and the second target surface 230B, the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 are movable relative to one another in order to transfer the locking unit 210 between the unlocked position and the locked position.During the transfer between the unlocked position and the locked position, the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 move translationally on a locking plane which is arranged parallel to the target surface 230.

[0051] The drone 300 comprises a holding means 310 in the form of a rod, which is configured at a free end facing away from the drone 300 for interaction with the locking unit 210. In other words, the drone 300 is guided toward the receiving device 200 in the flight state such that the free end of the holding means 310 strikes the target surface 230.

[0052] Figure 1A shows the drone 300 with a first holding means 310A and a second holding means 310B. The first holding means 310A serves to interact with the first target surface 230A and the second holding means 310B serves to interact with the second target surface 230B. The first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the first target surface 230A serve to lock the first holding means 310A. The first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the second target surface 230B serve to lock the second holding means 310B.

[0053] Figure 1B shows the drone 300 according to Figure 1A, wherein the locking unit 210 is transferred from the unlocked position to the locked position. The first holding means 310A of the drone 300 is still in contact with the first target surface 230A, and the second holding means 310B is in contact with the second target surface 230B. The first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the first target surface 230A serve to lock the first holding means 310A and are transferred from the unlocked position to the locked position. The first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the second target surface 230B serve to lock the second holding means 310B and are also transferred from the unlocked position to the locked position.

[0054] Figure 1C shows the drone 300 according to Figure 1A, with the locking unit 210 in the locked position. The first holding means 310A of the drone 300 is locked by the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the first target surface 230A. The second holding means 310B of the drone 300 is locked by the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the second target surface 230B. Overall, the drone 300 is locked to the receiving device 200.

[0055] Figure 1D shows the drone 300 according to Figure 1A, wherein the drone 300 is pivoted relative to a vertical facade 400. In this position, the drone 300 is in a loading and unloading position. For example, the drone can be arranged directly at a facade opening, such as a window, thereby providing direct access to the drone 300. This has the advantage that, for example, access to cargo that can be transported in such drones 300 is directly possible through a corresponding window (not shown) in the vertical facade 400. Figure 2 shows a drone 300 in a flight state according to an embodiment of the invention. The drone 300 comprises the holding means 310 in the form of a first holding means 310A and a second holding means 310B.Both holding means 310A, 310B are designed in the form of a rod, which is configured to interact with the locking unit 210 at a free end facing away from the drone 300. In addition, the free end facing away from the drone 300 comprises a joint element 312. The joint element 312 enables the drone 300, after being locked to the receiving device 200, to be pivoted onto the vertical facade 400 via the joint element 312, thereby reaching the loading and unloading position.

[0056] Figure 3A shows the holding elements 310A, 310B of the drone 300 in a position pivoted against a vertical facade 400, locked by the locking unit 210, according to another embodiment of the invention. The first holding means 310A of the drone 300 is locked by the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 of the target surface 230. The second holding means 310B of the drone 300 is locked by another first clamping element 212 and another second clamping element 214 of the target surface 230. The drone 300 is in a state locked to the receiving device 200.

[0057] The holding means 310 of the drone 300 comprises a ball element 314, which is located at a free end of the holding means 310A, 310B facing away from the drone 300. A tapered section 316 is located on the holding means 310A, 310B directly adjacent to the ball element 314.

[0058] As the drone 300 approaches, the ball element 314 comes into direct contact with the target surface 230, and the locking unit 210 is locked by moving the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 from the unlocked position to the locked position. The clamping elements 212, 214 engage around the ball element 314. The drone 300 can then be aligned almost parallel to the vertical structure 400 by pivoting around the ball element 314. In this state, pivoted almost parallel to the vertical structure 400, the drone 300 can be arranged directly at a facade opening, such as a loading and unloading opening or a window. The ball element 314 has an important dual function. The first function is to provide a locking body, which is connected to the locking unit 210 orinteracts with the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 when moving from the unlocked position to the locked position. The second function is to provide a joint body that enables the drone 300 to pivot almost parallel to the vertical structure 400.

[0059] The tapered section 316 of the holding means 310 plays an important role in pivoting the drone 300. The locking unit 210, or the first clamping contour 213 and the second clamping contour 215, engage in the tapered section 316 of the holding means 310 in such a way that, on the one hand, the ball element 314 is fixed and, on the other hand, the drone 300 can be pivoted onto the vertical structure.

[0060] Figure 3B shows the drone according to Figure 3A in an additional representation.

[0061] Figure 4A shows a locking unit 210 in an unlocked position. The locking unit 210 is designed to be transferable between an unlocked position and a locked position, wherein the locking unit 210 has a first clamping element 212 and a second clamping element 214. Figure 4A shows a first target surface 230A and a second target surface 230B, wherein each target surface 230A, 230B is assigned a first clamping element 212 and a second clamping element 214. At both the first target surface 230A and the second target surface 230B, the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 are movable relative to one another in order to transfer the locking unit 210 between the unlocked position and the locked position.During the transfer between the unlocked position and the locked position, the first clamping element 212 and the second clamping element 214 move translationally toward or away from each other on a locking plane arranged parallel to the target surface 230. The first clamping element 212 has a first clamping contour 213 and the second clamping element 214 has a second clamping contour 215. The first clamping contour 213 and the second clamping contour 215 interact directly with the ball element 314 of the holding means 310 and engage in the tapered section 316. Figure 4B shows the locking unit 210 according to Figure 4B in a locked position. The first clamping element 212 has the first clamping contour 213 and the second clamping element 214 has the second clamping contour 215.The clamping contours 214, 215 have an inclination angle a to each other, whereby a tilting of the clamping elements 212, 214 with the holding means 310 is prevented and an exact.

[0062] Positioning of the drone 300 on the receiving device 200 can be ensured. During the transfer of the clamping elements 214, 214 from the unlocked position to the locked position, the holding means 310 of the drone 300 slides downward along the inclined clamping contours 213, 215. Figure 5 shows a drone 300 in a position locked by the locking unit 210 and pivoted onto a vertical facade 400, from the perspective of a loading and unloading opening 410 according to a further embodiment of the invention.
