Description

[0001] Pouring device for pouring liquids, spout and container with such a pouring device

[0002] The invention relates to a pouring device for pouring liquids from a container, comprising a channel section made of plastic of a predetermined plastic type, which extends between an inflow end and an outflow end, in particular in an axial direction, wherein the channel section is connected to a container, in particular is connected at least indirectly or is at least connectable to a container, wherein the channel section has an applicator element permeable to liquid at its outflow end, in particular the channel section is closed at its outflow end with an applicator element permeable to liquid.

[0003] The invention also relates to a spout for a squeeze bag and also to a container, preferably a squeeze bag, with a spout, in particular with a spout as mentioned above.

[0004] In particular, the invention can provide for the channel section to be connected directly to the container with its inflow end when the pouring device is connected to a container, e.g. the inflow end merges into the wall, e.g. a bottle neck or the pouring channel of a spout of the container. In such a case, the channel section of the pouring device is preferably connected to the container in one piece or by a material fit, in particular to its pouring channel. In the case of an at least indirect connection between the pouring device and the container, the invention preferably provides for the channel section of the pouring device to be connected to a container via another element, in particular at a region of the inflow end. Such another element can be, for example, the pouring channel of the spout of the container. In such a case, the pouring device is preferably a separate device from the container and its spout.

[0005] Since a pouring device according to the invention can accordingly form a separate device for a container and its spout, it can also be connected to at least one container or one spout.

[0006] The fact that the channel section is preferably closed with the applicator element is understood in particular to mean that liquid can escape from the channel section only through the applicator element, but not through other paths.

[0007] Such an applicator element is typically provided when a liquid should not be able to flow freely out of the channel section. In the case of the invention, the liquid passes through the permeable applicator element and can be applied to an application surface by placing the applicator element with its outward-facing surface on the application surface or by moving it over it with contact.

[0008] The liquid preferably emerges from the applicator element over its entire outer surface. In a typical application, an application surface is, for example, a person's skin, onto which the liquid in a container, e.g. a medication or a cosmetic, is to be applied over the entire surface. Other typical applications are textile or surface care. All of these applications are also preferred in the invention. For this purpose, the liquid can emerge from the applicator element over the entire free, outward-facing surface of the latter and / or be wiped off by the latter. The (preferably entire) surface of the applicator element facing into the interior of the channel section serves as the entry surface for the liquid into the applicator element. It is preferably provided that the liquid can distribute itself in the applicator element, in particular by the applicator element being permeable in all spatial directions / omnidirectionally.

[0009] In common known applications, an applicator element is designed as a sponge. Publication WO 2018 / 171986 A1 shows a container with a sponge as the applicator element on the container's pouring device.

[0010] While such a sponge is soft and pleasant to use on the skin, it wears out quickly and can therefore easily become damaged. Furthermore, a sponge is usually made of a different material than a container or pouring device, such as polyurethane. This results in low environmental compatibility and, due to the mix of materials, also poses the problem of later separate disposal into different material fractions.

[0011] It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a pouring device that is more environmentally friendly, poses fewer disposal problems, and can be used for a long time. Preferably, such a pouring device should also be retrofittable to existing containers or container spouts. Preferably, a further object is to provide a spout that can be connected to a container, e.g., a squeeze bag, and a container with a spout, which have the same advantages.

[0012] The object is achieved with regard to the pouring device in that the applicator element is formed from the same type of plastic as the channel section, in particular exclusively from the same single type of plastic as the channel section, preferably wherein all components of the pouring device are formed from the same type of plastic, in particular from the same single type of plastic.

[0013] The term “the same plastic type” is preferably understood to mean that the material of different elements of the pouring device does not necessarily have to be exactly identical, although this is also possible, but can differ, for example, with regard to the specific structure, in particular molecular structure, as long as the plastic type is the same, in particular a chain polymerization of the same monomer is present, in particular the same single monomer is present.

[0014] For example, materials of the same plastic type, or chain polymerizations of the same monomer, can have different molar masses or crystallinity and / or degrees of branching of the polymer chains. Although such plastics are the same plastic type in the sense of polymer chains of the same monomer, the plastics can differ in terms of specific properties, e.g., mechanical, thermal, or chemical properties.

[0015] Different elements of the pouring device, or of an entire container with a pouring device or a pouring device for containers (squeeze bags), are therefore preferably made of the same type of plastic if the plastics are made of the polymer chains of the same monomer.

[0016] Simply by using the same plastic type for the applicator element and the channel section, or preferably also for all other remaining elements of the device, it is achieved that no mix of different plastic types arises in the pouring device or even a container or spout. Thus, a pouring device / container / spout is constructed from a uniform material or from a so-called mono-material, so that no separation of the parts into different recycling fractions is necessary during later disposal. The applicator element of the invention preferably has all of the aforementioned properties of the liquid line / distribution.

[0017] In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides that the applicator element comprises at least a first layer.

[0018] For example, it is provided that the applicator element comprises at least a first layer of a nonwoven fabric, wherein the nonwoven fabric is formed from fibers of the plastic type, in particular from a tangled / disordered mesh or composite of fibers of the plastic type.

[0019] Such a nonwoven fabric has the advantage that its permeability to liquids is not directional, so that even in a nonwoven fabric, any liquid entering the applicator element can be distributed in all directions and evenly discharged from the exposed surface. A nonwoven fabric preferably has a longer service life than a sponge, especially if the fibers of the nonwoven fabric are bonded to one another. In the case of fibers made of a plastic material of the same type, these fibers can be thermally bonded to one another, for example, particularly by welding at the contact points between the fibers.

[0020] In another preferred embodiment, the invention provides that the applicator element comprises at least a first layer of an open-pore foamed body which is formed from the plastic type.

[0021] Such a foam body can be produced, for example, from a liquid plastic of the same plastic type using a propellant gas that causes foaming.

[0022] In another preferred embodiment, the invention provides that the applicator element comprises at least a first layer of an open-pore plastic sintered body formed from the plastic type. Such a plastic sintered body can be produced, for example, using the principle of selective plastic laser sintering. The sintered body can thus preferably also be produced using additive manufacturing techniques, e.g., 3D printing.

[0023] Preferably, in all possible embodiments of the first layer, i.e. in all previously mentioned but also in all possible unmentioned embodiments of the first layer, it can be provided that this first layer or the material of this first layer is hygroscopic, e.g. because the material itself is hygroscopic or the material is hygroscopically coated or otherwise treated to achieve a hygroscopic effect, in particular by admixing substances that cause hygroscopicity into the plastic of the plastic type or by mechanical or structural design of the first layer, such as with a structuring that generates capillary activity.

[0024] Overall, the hygroscopic design can preferably ensure that no liquid escapes from the layer as long as no external force is exerted on the applicator element.

[0025] Preferably, it is provided, particularly through a hygroscopic property of the first layer, that it first absorbs the liquid completely before it exits the layer for application. The first layer thus, for example, delays the start of the liquid exit, particularly if the entry of liquid into the first layer is controlled by a valve function implemented in the pouring device.

[0026] In all the aforementioned embodiments and also in possible embodiments of the first layer not mentioned, it is preferably provided that the outer free surface of the applicator element, with which the liquid can be applied to the application surface via contact with the latter, is formed by the first layer. In a possible further development, it is preferably provided that the applicator element has at least one further second layer made of a perforated film, preferably a homogeneously perforated film, of the plastic type, upstream of at least one first layer, in particular the at least one aforementioned first layer, in particular pointing into the interior of the channel section.

[0027] Preferably, “homogeneous” means that the perforation density is the same everywhere in the surface of the film.

[0028] However, the film can also be provided with non-homogeneously distributed / inhomogeneously distributed passages, in particular with at least one passage or a plurality of passages, in order to thereby only reduce the area of the first layer that can be flowed from the interior of the channel section, compared to the total area of the first layer facing the interior.

[0029] Such a film with at least one passage or a plurality of passages can be provided in order to create an increased flow resistance through the applicator element, e.g. in the case of very highly viscous liquids which would otherwise pass too quickly through the aforementioned first layer, in particular which forms the outer free surface.

[0030] This film does not have to be omnidirectionally permeable to liquid, as is preferably provided for in the first layer; in particular, it is sufficient if this film allows the liquid to pass through the film in the direction of the film thickness, which can be achieved, for example, by passages through the film running in the direction of the thickness. Such passages can be produced, for example, by punching or laser cutting. Such passages preferably have a cross-sectional dimension of less than 1 mm. The film as the second layer is preferably, in regions around the at least one passage or around the plurality of passages, a homogeneous, impermeable plastic material made of the same plastic type as in the at least one first layer. The thickness of a film as at least one second layer is preferably less than the thickness of the at least one first layer, in particular wherein the thickness is considered in the direction of passage of a liquid through the respective layer or perpendicular to the surface of the layer.

[0031] It is further preferred that the at least one first layer and the at least one second layer are arranged in contact with one another in the applicator element without a material connection, in particular only with a force-fitting connection, preferably a force-fitting connection created by clamping, in an outer edge region of the applicator element. In such an edge region, the applicator element may be compressed, in particular due to the aforementioned clamping.

[0032] In another example, the at least one first layer and the at least one second layer can also be firmly bonded to one another, e.g. by welding,

[0033] In such an embodiment, elements forming the first and second layers can be manufactured separately and then combined. For example, respective elements can be punched or otherwise machined / cut out of a strip material and then superimposed to form the applicator element.

[0034] Preferably, the invention can provide that the applicator element, in a first possible embodiment, has a flat lower surface, in particular, the lower surface being understood as the surface facing the interior of the channel section, i.e., in particular, the surface against which the liquid flows. The surface, in particular the surface from which the liquid emerges, can have a lower height level relative to the flat lower surface in the edge region, particularly where a clamping occurs, than in a region radially inward of said edge region. In a second preferred embodiment, it can also be provided that the applicator element is deep-drawn, in particular with a radially outward-facing edge / collar at the open end of the deep-drawn shape of the applicator element, in particular whereby it has at least substantially the same thickness throughout, but radially inward from the edge region / collar, the lower surface (as defined above) has a recess, in particular in which a head region of a spring element mentioned below lies. In particular, the at least substantially equal thickness is present when the thickness is measured perpendicular to the curved surface of the applicator element.

[0035] Such an applicator element can, for example, be produced from an initially flat applicator element, in particular comprising at least a first and at least one second layer, which is formed by deep drawing, e.g. in a mold, e.g. under the influence of heat, into a deep-drawn shape, in particular forming a pot-shaped or hat-shaped shape with a recess surrounded by a radially outward-facing collar / edge. The applicator element preferably has, in cross-section perpendicular to the direction of flow, an S-shaped profile extending radially outwards from a point in the center, or a doubly curved profile with adjoining curves in opposite directions. The material of the applicator element preferably extends parallel to one another in the region of the center and in the region of the edge / collar with an offset, in particular which corresponds to the deep-drawing depth.

[0036] The feature that the applicator element is deep-drawn or has a deep-drawn shape preferably does not necessarily imply that this property or shape was created by forming according to a deep-drawing process. Although forming by deep-drawing is preferred, a shape that appears deep-drawn can also be produced by methods other than deep-drawing, e.g. by primary forming instead of forming. In all possible embodiments according to the invention, it is preferably provided that the plastic type common to all components of the pouring device is polyethylene, in particular HDPE or LDPE. All plastics of the polyethylene type have a polymer chain of the monomer ethene, and thus form the same plastic type. Different plastics of the polyethylene type can be combined within the pouring device or even within a container with such a pouring device.

[0037] Alternatively, it can also be provided that the common plastic type for all components of the pouring device is polypropylene. All polypropylene-type plastics have a polymer chain of the monomer propene, thus forming the same plastic type. Different polypropylene-type plastics can be combined within the pouring device or even within a container with such a pouring device.

[0038] In principle, the invention can also use plastic types other than the two mentioned, but in particular each based on polymer chains with the same monomer, in particular with the same single monomer.

[0039] The design of the pouring device preferably includes a clamping ring that can be placed on the outlet end, with which the applicator element can be secured to the outlet end. Such a fastening is preferably effected by clamping and / or locking.

[0040] It is preferably provided that the clamping ring at the outflow end partially covers an outer surface area of the channel section and is fastened to the covered surface area, preferably in a locking manner.

[0041] This can be done, for example, by a ring projection projecting on the clamping ring in the direction of the lateral surface area engaging in a locking manner in an annular groove on the lateral surface area or alternatively by a ring projection projecting on the lateral surface area in the direction of the clamping ring engaging in a locking manner in an annular groove on the clamping ring.

[0042] The clamping ring is preferably designed such that it has a first ring region which, after assembly on the channel section, is located in front of its axial end, in particular the outflow end, and a second ring region which, after assembly, is arranged radially outwardly around a lateral surface region of the channel section.

[0043] Preferably, the channel section has, at its outflow end, preferably at a distance from the axial end face of the outflow end, an annular collar pointing into the interior of the channel section, onto which the applicator element is placed or at least can be placed. The applicator element can be attached to this collar using the clamping ring mentioned.

[0044] In one example, it may also be provided that the applicator element, in particular its lower second layer, is firmly attached to the collar, e.g., by welding. In such a case, a clamping ring may also be omitted.

[0045] For example, the clamping ring has a central through-opening, wherein the edge region adjacent to the through-opening covers the radially outer edge of the applicator element and the edge of the applicator element is fastened, in particular compressed, between the edge region adjacent to the through-opening and the collar.

[0046] The through opening is preferably arranged in the aforementioned first ring region.

[0047] Preferably, the fastening, in particular the compression, results in a force-locking connection of the aforementioned first and second layers, if such are present. Furthermore, the fastening / compression fixes the applicator element at the outflow end of the channel section.

[0048] It is further preferably provided that the thickness of the applicator element, in particular in the aforementioned first embodiment of the applicator element, in the non-compressed region (radially inward from the edge, or around the center) is greater than the sum of the thickness of the edge region of the through-opening adjacent to the through-opening and the distance of the outwardly facing surface of the collar from the axial end face of the outlet end.

[0049] Preferably, it is provided or results from the above-mentioned embodiment that the outwardly facing free surface of the applicator element projects outwards beyond the axial end face of the clamping ring or the non-compressed part of the applicator element projects outwards through the through opening in the clamping ring.

[0050] It is preferably provided in all possible embodiments that the applicator element is subjected to a force by a compression spring element located in the interior of the channel section, in particular upstream of the applicator element, in particular which is supported on the inner wall of the channel section.

[0051] Preferably, the applicator element is thereby pushed outwards and the user feels a resilient flexibility of the applicator element during use, in particular when an application surface comes into contact with the outward-facing surface of the applicator element.

[0052] In particular, the spring element has a head region contacting the applicator element, which comprises a valve element that sealingly interacts with the surface of the collar facing the inflow end. For this purpose, a surface region of the collar, particularly its radially inner edge region, can preferably be shaped in a conical segment or conical shape on the side of the collar facing the inflow end. In this embodiment, the valve element can preferably have a correspondingly conical segment-shaped / conical counter-surface.

[0053] This can preferably be achieved by pressing the valve element at the head area of the spring element against the collar without any external force being applied to the applicator element, completely closing the channel section. Only when an external force is applied is the valve element lifted from the collar, allowing the fluid to flow past the valve element and exit the channel section through the applicator element.

[0054] In a preferred deep-drawn form of the applicator element, the aforementioned head region preferably lies in a recess on the underside of the applicator element, which is surrounded by a rim / collar of the applicator element. The head region thus contacts the bottom of this recess, which is thereby resiliently supported.

[0055] The pouring device described above can be formed directly in one piece / materially bonded to a container or also to a spout for a container.

[0056] In all possible embodiments, the invention can preferably also provide that the pouring device according to the invention is a device separate from a container with a pourer or a device separate from a pourer for a container, which can be fastened to the pourer of the container or to a pourer for a container.

[0057] For this purpose, the channel section of the separate pouring device is preferably designed as a plug-in spout in the region of the inlet end, in particular with the wall thickness of the channel section decreasing on the outside toward the inlet end. Existing containers or container spouts can thus be easily retrofitted with a pouring device according to the invention by inserting the pouring device with the plug-in spout into the pouring channel of the container or the container spout.

[0058] The invention thus also relates to a spout for a squeeze bag comprising a spout channel with an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein a welding element is arranged at the inlet end, which can be fastened between two film layers of a squeeze bag, in particular by thermal welding, wherein the spout channel of the spout comprises a pouring device as described above, in particular wherein the pouring device is inserted with its insertion nozzle in the region of the outlet end of the spout channel, in particular at least in regions, into the pouring channel.

[0059] The invention further relates to a container with a spout, wherein the spout channel of the spout of the container comprises a previously described pouring device, wherein it is preferably provided that the pouring device is inserted with its insertion nozzle in the region of the inflow end at least partially into the spout channel of the container.

[0060] Such a container can in principle have any structural design.

[0061] Preferably, however, the container is designed as a squeeze bag, and the spout of the squeeze bag is secured with a welding element at the inlet end of the pouring channel between two film layers of the squeeze bag, in particular by thermal welding. The pouring device is inserted into the outlet end of the pouring channel, in particular up to the point of contact between the axial end face of the pouring channel at its outlet end and the axial end face of the clamping ring facing the pouring channel, in particular its outlet end. Thus, the clamping ring can automatically define the insertion depth.

[0062] It can preferably be provided that the outer diameter of the clamping ring is smaller than the outer diameter of the pouring channel of the pourer for a squeeze bag or the pourer of the container, in particular at its outflow end.

[0063] Preferably, in a container or spout for a squeeze bag, a sleeve is arranged around the spout channel of the spout for a squeeze bag or the spout of the container, in particular, it is screwed onto the spout channel, preferably with an outer cross-section that widens toward the container, preferably in a stepped manner. This is preferably provided if the outer diameter of the spout channel, in particular at its outflow end, is smaller than the outer diameter of the clamping ring.

[0064] This sleeve can cover threads on the pouring channel of the container's spout and preferably achieve an attractive appearance after the pouring device has been inserted.

[0065] It is preferably provided that the axial end face of the clamping ring facing the pouring channel of the pourer for a squeeze bag or the pourer of the container axially contacts the sleeve, in particular wherein the sleeve is axially fixed between a collar above the welding area and the axial end face of the clamping ring facing the pouring channel.

[0066] A closure cap, in particular a locking cap, can preferably be attached to the sleeve and covers the inserted pouring device.

[0067] Regardless of whether a container with a spout or a spout for welding into a squeeze bag is equipped with a separate, preferably plugged-in pouring device or such a device with its channel section is arranged directly in one piece on the container / spout, it is preferably provided that all components of the container or spout for a squeeze bag are made of the same common plastic type, in particular of polyethylene or polypropylene.

[0068] In particular, a pouring device according to the invention or a spout according to the invention or a container according to the invention does not comprise any material other than plastics of the same plastic type.

[0069] This ensures that a container or spout with the pouring device belongs to only one type of plastic in all its components and can therefore be recycled without disassembly.

[0070] Embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the figures.

[0071] Figure 1 shows, in a separate view, the structural cross-sectional representation of a pouring device of the invention with a channel section 2 made of plastic which extends between an inflow end 2a and an outflow end 2b, wherein the channel section 2 is connectable to a container 10 or is connected according to Figure 2.

[0072] The channel section 2 has, at its outflow end 2b, an applicator element 3 which is permeable to liquid and is made of the same type of plastic as the channel section, preferably with all components of the pouring device 1 being made of the same type of plastic, or in the embodiment according to Figure 2 with all components of the container 10 shown there being made of the same type of plastic, e.g. with the plastic type polyethylene (PE).

[0073] The channel section 2 has an outwardly tapered wall thickness at its lower end, so that this channel section region forms an insertion nozzle at the inlet end, which can be inserted into the pouring channel 12 of a pourer, e.g. the pourer of the container shown in Figure 2.

[0074] According to Figures 1 and 2, the applicator element 3 is fastened to the outflow end 2b of the channel section 2 by means of a clamping ring 4 placed on the outflow end 2b, for which purpose the clamping ring 4 at the outflow end 2b partially covers an outer circumferential surface area 2d of the channel section 2 and is fastened in a locking manner to the covered circumferential surface area 2d.

[0075] For this purpose, an annular projection 4a projecting radially on the inside of the clamping ring 4 in the direction of the lateral surface area 2d engages in a locking manner in an annular groove 2e on the lateral surface area 2d that is open radially outwards.

[0076] The clamping ring 4 has a central through-opening 4b, the edge region 4c of which, adjacent to the through-opening 4b, covers the radially outer edge of the applicator element 3, whereby the outer edge of the applicator element 3 is compressed between the edge region 4c adjacent to the through-opening and the collar 2c. In Figure 1, the applicator element 3 is preferably designed as previously referred to as the first embodiment.

[0077] According to the enlarged detail in Figure 1, the applicator element is formed from two layers 3a and 3b, wherein layer 3a preferably allows for an omnidirectional distribution of liquid entering this layer 3a from the interior of the channel section 2. To achieve this, the first layer 3a can be formed as generally described above.

[0078] The second layer 3b, located upstream, i.e., below the first layer 3a, is formed by a perforated film to limit the flow through the first layer 3a. The entire applicator element, i.e., the two layers 3a, 3b, and all other components of the pouring device 1, here the channel section 2 and the clamping ring 4, are made of the same type of plastic, e.g., polyethylene.

[0079] Figure 2 shows - as already mentioned - the embodiment in which the pouring device 1 of Figure 1 is inserted into the pouring channel 12 of the spout of the container shown here, preferably a squeeze bag.

[0080] Additionally, it is visualized that a spring element 5 is arranged inside the channel section 2. The spring element 5 has a head region 5b that includes a valve element 5b that can be sealingly supported on the collar 2c, which supports the applicator element 3 at its edge region. The spring element 5 is supported at the end facing away from the head region 5b on a collar in the channel section 2, so that a compressive force can be exerted from the inside on the applicator element by the head, with the valve element 5d simultaneously sealing the channel section 2.

[0081] If a force is exerted on the applicator element 3 from the outside, this pushes the head region 5b towards the interior of the channel section 2 and the valve element 5b lifts off the collar 2c and thus opens the channel section 2 for the passage of liquid.

[0082] Figure 2 clearly shows that a sleeve 14 is arranged axially below the clamping ring 4 and above a collar 16 of the weld-in area 13, with which the spout 11 is secured between two film layers of the squeeze bag. This sleeve 14 is preferably screwed onto the external thread of the spout channel 12. This results in a smooth transition between the outer surface of the clamping ring 4 and the sleeve 14, particularly when the outer diameter of the spout channel 12, especially at its outlet end, is smaller than the outer diameter of the clamping ring 4.

[0083] A cap 15 can also be clamped / locked onto the sleeve, covering the pouring device 1 inserted into the pouring channel 12. Figure 2 thus illustrates the possibility of retrofitting existing container constructions with a pouring device 1 according to the invention that is separate from the container.

[0084] Figure 3 shows a spout for a squeeze bag, as shown in Figure 2, wherein the spout 12 has at the inlet end 12a the welding area 13 which can also be seen in Figure 2.

[0085] In contrast to Figure 2, which shows such a spout 12 already mounted on the squeeze bag 10, here no sleeve is arranged around the pouring channel 12, in particular because the outer diameter of the clamping ring 4 is less than or equal to the outer diameter of the pouring channel 12, in particular at its outflow end. Another difference from Figure 2 is that the applicator element is in a design previously referred to as the second embodiment, whereby the applicator element 3 has a deep-drawn shape, with the radially outer edge of the deep-drawn shape being fastened between the clamping ring 4 and the collar 2c. Furthermore, the collar 4 and the head region 5a on the valve element 5b thereof have matching, opposing frustoconical / conical sealing surfaces. The head region 5a here lies in a recess formed on the underside of the applicator element 3, which is surrounded by the edge / collar of the applicator element 3.

[0086] In particular, all other features described in Figures 1 and 2 also apply to Figure 3.

[0087] Assuming that the pouring channel 12 and the channel section 2 are the same component, or that the channel section 2 is a sub-region of the pouring channel 12, the design results in a container, in this case a squeeze bag, or a spout for a squeeze bag with a pouring device 1 implemented as a single piece therein. This is not visualized. In this case, a sleeve 14 could possibly be omitted, particularly if the clamping ring 4 does not project radially beyond the outer diameter of the pouring channel 12, particularly at its outflow end 12b, or if the applicator element 3 is attached to the outflow end 2b by means other than a clamping ring 4.
