Description

Description Vibration damper field of technology

[0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for machining a workpiece that is tubular at least in its end region and is driven by a workpiece spindle. State of the art

[0002] In the flank machining of tubular workpieces, the workpieces are attached at one end to a workpiece spindle. During machining, the workpiece is driven by a rotary motion. This causes vibrations at the free end of the workpiece, which disrupts the dimensional accuracy of the machining. Examples of prior art include DE 102017116448 Al, DE 1080 381 A, DE 201 19821 Ul, DE 101 16259 Al, DE 100 02 188 Al, DE 102011 050499 Al, DE 102014 108438 Al, and DE 19900423 Al. DE 19964 396 B4, DE 10249039 B4, DE 10 2015 104 242 Al and EP 2364231 Bl. Summary of the invention

[0003] The invention is based on the objective of providing a method by which dimensionally accurate machining of a tubular workpiece is made possible during machining, and a device for carrying out the method.

[0004] The problem is solved by the invention specified in the claims, wherein, firstly and essentially, a damping element detachably connected to the workpiece is provided. The damping element can be inserted into the end-face opening of the workpiece and detachably fastened to the inner wall of the workpiece with fasteners. The system consisting of the workpiece, which is driven by the workpiece spindle, and the damping element can act as a two-mass oscillator.

[0005] The damping element can have a base body containing a damping mass. The base body can form a cavity surrounded by a wall. The wall of the cavity forms recesses, which can be designed to create spaced-apart, finger-like spreading elements. These spreading elements are spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction, creating gaps. These gaps can be filled section by section with a filling element, in particular an elastic plastic. However, a rubber filling injected by an injection molding process can also be used as the filling element. This allows the spreading elements to expand elastically.

[0006] In one embodiment of the invention, the spreading elements can be T-shaped, with the crossbar of the T pointing downwards towards the opening of the cavity. The spreading elements can be free-cut areas of a cylindrical shell wall of the base body, which can be subjected to radial outward force by suitable means.

[0007] One or more coupling elements, in particular elastic coupling elements, can be provided to couple the workpiece to the damping element. In one embodiment of the invention, the coupling element can be an elastic ring surrounding the spreading elements, for example, made of an elastic plastic or rubber. When the damping element is inserted into the cavity of the workpiece, this ring can press against a toothed ring arranged on the inner wall of the cavity. In this way, a vibration of the workpiece is transmitted to the damping element. However, other coupling elements are also possible. Coupling elements, in particular ring-shaped coupling elements, may be provided in sections in the circumferential direction on the spreading elements or connecting two spreading elements at a time.

[0008] To counteract the vibration, the damping element can have an elastically or plastically compressible core. The core can be held in a clamping fit by the spreading elements. In one embodiment of the invention, the core can be made of plastic, in particular a plastic torus produced by a 3D printing process. This torus can have cavities, preferably honeycomb-structured cavities. However, the core can also have cavities with other structures.

[0009] Vibration of the workpiece causes the plastic torus to be subjected to force by the expanding elements. This exerts a radially inward force on the core, compressing it and creating a force-fit connection. A radially inward tension acts on the core. When the core relaxes, it counteracts the vibration, thus damping it. The core therefore acts as a damper. Furthermore, the core centers the damping element, as the expanding elements bear against a circumferential wall of the core in both a relaxed and a radially inwardly tensioned position. The core can also consist of individual, non-connected compressible elements. For example, in one embodiment of the invention, a single plastic or rubber element can be arranged on the inner wall of each expanding element.Other core components that have a centering and / or damping effect can also be integrated into the body of the damping element.

[0010] The core part can have fastening means that can be attached to the inner wall of the expansion elements. In one embodiment of the invention, the core part can form flanks on its outer wall that are adapted to a flank structure on the inner wall of the expansion elements, so that the core part can be fitted into the body of the damping element. However, other fastening means can also be used to attach the core part to the expansion elements.

[0011] The damping element can have a hollow cylindrical, pot-shaped, or bell-shaped base body. The hollow body forming the base body is preferably made of steel. However, the hollow body can also be made of another material with a strength comparable to steel. Alternatively, the damping element can have other body shapes that can be inserted into the pipe body of the workpiece and are made of steel.

[0012] To insert the damping element into the tube body of the workpiece, a damping element carrier can be used. This carrier can have clamping elements for securing the damping element. In one embodiment of the invention, the clamping elements can be clamping jaws between which the damping element can be clamped. The damping element can be clamped between the clamping jaws in a diameter-reducing position. In this position, the damping element can be inserted into the tube body of the workpiece. When the clamping jaws are released, the expanding elements and the core part relax so that the expanding elements, particularly with the interposition of a coupling element, press against the inner wall of the tube body, thereby firmly securing the damping element within the tube body.

[0013] The clamping jaws of the damping element carrier engage with contact surfaces formed by the spreading elements. These contact surfaces are formed, in particular, by the end sections of the spreading elements that point towards the front opening of the damping element body. The contact surfaces can have a surface contour that is adapted to the contour of the inner sides of the clamping jaws.

[0014] In a holding position where the spreading elements are relaxed and the damping element is attached inside the tube body of the workpiece, the attack surfaces can protrude beyond the edge of the end face opening of the workpiece.

[0015] The base body of the damping element can also have a different shape, which can be brought into a diameter-reducing position by clamping elements, in which the damping element can be inserted into the tube body of the workpiece. In one embodiment of the invention, fastening means, for example, expanding elements that are expanded radially outwards by an expanding cone, can be provided. However, another hollow body having expanding elements, for example, a dowel-shaped hollow body, can also be inserted into the tube body of the workpiece, into which a screw body, which expands the expanding elements radially outwards, is screwed.

[0016] The invention further relates to a device in the form of a machine tool with a rotary-driven tool spindle for holding a workpiece and a tool holder for holding a tool, wherein the tool holder can be positioned relative to the workpiece. A damping element carrier movable in space is also provided, into which the damping element can be clamped. For this purpose, clamping jaws can be provided that grip the spreading elements, so- A force is transferred to the expanding elements, which also clamps the core part, creating a friction-fit connection. This friction-fit connection generates a clamping force radially outwards, which, when inserted into the workpiece and after the clamping jaws are released, presses the expanding elements against the inner wall of the workpiece, thus holding the damping element in a fixed position within the body.

[0017] The machine tool can include a device for producing backings, as disclosed, for example, in DE 102014 108438 Al, DE 102015 104 242 Al, DE 199 64396 B4, DE 100 02 188 Al, DE 101 16 259 Al, and / or skiving (EP 2364231 Bl). It can also include devices for gear cutting and / or deburring, as described, for example, in DE 10249039 B4 and DE 19900423 Al. Devices for chamfering, as disclosed, for example, in DE 102011 050499 Al, can also be used. Furthermore, devices for turning or cycloidal milling can also be included. It is also possible to provide a combination of all the aforementioned devices, in which one or more damping elements can be attached.

[0018] The method according to the invention can further comprise the following steps. In a first step, before machining a workpiece, in which the workpiece is already attached to the workpiece spindle, the damping element can have a small diameter, for example, clamped in a position that reduces the diameter between the clamping elements of the damping element carrier. In this position, the damping element carrier is located at a distance from the workpiece. In a second step, the damping element carrier carrying the damping element can be moved into a positioning position on the workpiece. In the positioning position, the damping element can be inserted into the workpiece. In a third step, the damping element can be moved into a holding position. Here, the diameter of the damping element is increased; for example, the clamping jaws are released from the contact surfaces, so that the spreading elements exert a radially outward force on the inside of the workpiece's tube body. This secures the damping element to the workpiece. In the holding position, the coupling element, in particular a rubber ring or rubber jaws, presses against the toothed ring on the inner wall of the workpiece. In the holding position, the contact surfaces can protrude beyond the edge of the workpiece's end-face opening. This allows the damping element to be gripped by the clamping elements of the damping element carrier and, if necessary, clamped after the workpiece has been machined. Subsequently, the damping element carrier can be moved away from the workpiece in a further step.Following this, the workpiece can be detached from the workpiece spindle and a new workpiece can be attached to the workpiece spindle.

[0019] A damping element can be used for machining one or more workpieces. The core part and / or the coupling elements can be replaced, for example, in case of wear. The core part and / or the coupling elements can be replaced with other core parts and / or coupling elements as desired.

[0020] To prevent the damping element from falling out of the workpiece tube, an additional fastening means can be provided. In one embodiment of the invention, the damping element can be attached to the workpiece spindle with a bayonet fitting. The body of the damping element can have a base opposite the end-face opening. The base can form a non-circular opening, preferably in the form of an elongated slot. A The fastening head is arranged on the workpiece spindle. By rotating the damping element relative to the workpiece, for example by 90°, the fastening head and the slot can be separably connected. Alternatively, another separable fastener can be provided as a supplementary fastening means.

[0021] The machine tool has electric actuators to perform a positioning and a feed movement. Furthermore, electric actuators are provided to move the damping element carrier 6 in at least one spatial direction, but preferably in two or three spatial directions, and to move the clamping elements back and forth between a clamping position and a release position. In addition, an electronic, programmable control unit is provided with which the electric actuators can be controlled in such a way that the previously described method can be carried out on the machine tool, whereby the damping element carrier can be attached to the workpiece before machining and removed from the workpiece again after machining. Fig. 10 shows a side view of the damping element 3, wherein the space spaces 15 arranged between the spreading elements 7 are filled section by section with a filling element 16. Description of the embodiments

[0023] Figure 1 shows a view of an embodiment of the invention in which a tubular workpiece 1 is attached to a workpiece spindle 2. A damping element 3, clamped in a damping element carrier 6, is arranged below the end-face opening 20 of the workpiece 1. The damping element 3 can be moved into a positioning position inside the tubular body 21 of the workpiece 1 when clamped between clamping elements 17. In this positioning position, the damping element 3 is clamped between the clamping elements 17 of the damping element carrier 6 in a reduced-diameter position. The diameter of the damping element 3 is smaller than the inner diameter of the workpiece 1. This is necessary to insert the damping element into the interior of the tubular body 21 of the workpiece 1.

[0024] Inside the tube body 21, the damping element 3 is detachably secured in a holding position by means of fastening elements 7. For this purpose, the outer diameter of the damping element 3 is increased. To achieve this, the clamping elements 17 are moved radially outwards from the clamping position described above into a release position. In this release position, the clamping elements 17 move away from the damping element 3. This is shown in Figure 2. In this holding position, the damping element 3 is no longer clamped between the clamping jaws 17 of the damping element carrier 6. The damping element 3 is in the holding position when the workpiece 1 is machined by a tool 5, in particular a cutting tool 5.

[0025] As shown in Figures 1, 2, 6, 7, 9 and 10, the damping element 3 forms a pot- or bell-shaped body 8, which creates a cavity 13 surrounded by a wall. A core part 10 is inserted into the cavity 13 through an opening 14 in the end face of the body 8. In the embodiment shown in Figures 1-6, 8-10, the core part 10 is an elastically compressible ring which, as shown in Figure 3, has honeycomb-shaped or web-structured cavities 11.

[0026] The core part 10 is held in a clamping position by the fasteners 7. The fasteners 7 form finger-shaped expanding elements 7 spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction from the wall of the cavity 13. The core part 10 forms fastening flanks 27 on its outer wall in the circumferential direction (see Figure 9), which are inserted into recesses 26 formed by the inner wall 12 of the expanding elements 7 (see Figure 5).

[0027] The spreading elements 7 are T-shaped fingers formed from the wall surrounding the cavity 13, and are spaced apart from each other to form gaps 15. The gaps 15 include both longitudinal slots arranged between the crossbeams of the T of the fingers 7, and window-like openings connected to the longitudinal slots in the wall section facing away from the front face of the body 8.

[0028] As shown in Figure 10, the gaps 15 can be filled section by section with a filling element 30. The filling element 30 can, in particular, consist of an elastic filling material. The filling element 30 preferably fills the gaps 15 in the section of the spreading elements 7 forming the attack surfaces 18. However, the filling element 30 can also fill any section of the gaps 15.

[0029] The end sections of the spreading elements 7, pointing towards the front opening 14 of the body 8, form a contact surface 18 for the clamping elements 17 of the damping element carrier 6. The contour of the contact surfaces 18 is adapted to the contour of the clamping surfaces 28 of the clamping elements 17 of the damping element carrier 6 (see Figure 8). In the holding position, the contact surfaces 18 project beyond the edge 19 of the front opening 20 of the workpiece 1, as shown in Figure 2. This simplifies the gripping of the damping element 3 by the clamping elements 17 of the damping element carrier 6, in order to move the damping element 3 from the holding position to a position away from the workpiece 1. The contact surface 18 can have a circumferential groove interrupted only by the spacers 15, into which a correspondingly shaped rib of the clamping element 17 can engage. In addition, the edge section of the base body 8 forming the attack surface 19 can also have index openings by means of which the fastening element 3 can assume a defined rotational position relative to the damping element carrier 6.

[0030] The expanding elements 7 are surrounded by a coupling element 16 designed as an elastic ring (see Figures 2, 7, 10), which couples the damping element 3 to the inner wall 9 of the workpiece 1. The coupling element 16, made of an elastic material, can be seated in an annular groove that extends around its outer circumference and is interrupted only by the spacer gaps 15. This axially binds the coupling element 16 to the base body 8. When the damping element is clamped between the clamping elements 17 of the damping element carrier as shown in Figure 1, these exert a radially inward force on the expanding elements 7. This presses the expanding elements 7 radially inward onto the core part 8, which in turn causes a radially inward stress to act on the core part 8. This stress is released when the damping element 3 is in the holding position and the clamping jaws 17 of the damping carrier are closed. The element carrier 6 no longer acts on the contact surfaces 18 of the damping element 3. As the core part 8 relaxes, a radially outward force acts on the spreading elements 7. This force presses the outer side of the elastic ring 16 against a toothed ring 25 arranged on the inner wall 9 of the tube body 21 (see Figures 3 and 5). In this way, the damping element 3 is coupled to the workpiece 1. The gaps 15 between the spreading elements 7 allow the damping element 3 to adapt to tubular workpieces 1 with different, slightly varying diameters. The diameter of the annular coupling element 16 can be chosen arbitrarily and thus adapted to the diameter of the tube body 21.

[0031] By coupling the damping element 3 to the workpiece 1, vibrations in the free end of the workpiece 1 during the machining process, in which the workpiece 1 is rotated by the workpiece spindle 2, are transmitted to the damping element 3 and damped. During machining, the wall of the tubular body 21 can be set into a bending vibration. In such a bending vibration, the circular shape of the workpiece changes periodically at a vibration frequency. The vibration can be an anti-phase vibration of opposing areas of the wall, so that the distances between two opposing wall sections periodically increase and decrease, and wall sections positioned at an angle of 90° to them are phase-shifted by 180°. In particular, such a vibration is damped by means of the core part 10, which stiffens the damping element.

[0032] As shown in Figure 6, an additional supplementary fastening means is provided with which the damping element 3 can be attached to the workpiece spindle 2. This prevents the damping element 3 from unintentionally falling out of the interior of the tube body 21 of the workpiece 1. The base 24 opposite the end face opening 14 of the body 8 forms an elongated hole 23 (see Figure 7) into which a mounting head 22, arranged on the workpiece spindle 2, engages. The mounting head 22 has two radially outwardly projecting wing elements 29. If the longitudinal sides of the elongated hole 23 are aligned parallel to the wing elements 29, the wing elements 29 can extend through the elongated hole 23 (see Figure 4). By rotating the damping element through an angle of 90°, the wing elements 29 and the elongated hole 23 can be wedged together such that the damping element 3 is attached to the workpiece spindle 2 as shown in Figure 6.
