[0031] SC-FDE is a waveform for wireless communications systems, such as 6G, that has various benefits such as low peak-to-average power (PAPR) allowing for better coverage and low power consumption at the UE, robustness against radio frequency (RF) impairments especially at high frequency, and so forth. Furthermore, SC-FDE allows for simpler receiver implementation, and hence low processing power consumption which makes it appealing for low power devices that do not require high throughput and a high number of antennas such as reduced-capability (Redcap) devices. One aspect of SC-FDE to be considered for the waveform design is the user data allocation and user multiplexing. Unlike cyclic -prefix orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CP- OFDM) and discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-s- OFDM), data allocation and UE scheduling for a single carrier in SC-FDE is performed in a time manner.
[0032] Many devices (e.g., UEs and NEs) support multiple waveforms including those used in legacy (e.g., previous generation) wireless communications systems. It is beneficial to reuse some configuration parameters used in legacy systems (e.g., using CP-OFDM or DFT-s-OFDM configuration parameters in 5G for SC-FDE in 6G). For example, the definition of the slot and symbols, resource (time) block, fast Fourier transform (FFT) length, DMRS allocation, and so forth. However, some SC-FDE dedicated parameters and their configuration or signaling, which were not previously specified, are specified herein. The techniques discussed herein specify options allocating DMRS for multiple UEs (also referred to as multiple users) sharing a SC-FDE slot or SC- FDE symbol and the related configuration or signaling.
[0033] The techniques discussed herein describe different types for allocating DMRS for multiple UEs in a DL slot or an UL slot when a SC-FDE waveform is used. UE data and DMRS are allocated in one or more time resource blocks (TRBs), the time resource block (TRB) being a block of contiguous sub-symbols (constellation points) defined as a unit for allocation within a SC-FDE symbol. DMRS of multiple UEs for channel estimation can be allocated in time domain within one slot or within a symbol. Each UE is configured with one or more SC-FDE symbols for DMRS or with one or more TRBs in a symbol for DMRS. DMRS can be front-loaded at the beginning of the slot or prior to data allocation of each UE scheduled in a slot or in a symbol. One or more radio resource control (RRC) messages can be signaled to the UE that contains the DMRS mapping type and DMRS configuration.
[0034] The techniques discussed herein allow for allocation and configuration of DMRS for multiple UEs in a SC-FDE slot, thereby allowing multiple UEs to be mapped to a DL slot or an UL slot, or to a DL symbol or an UL symbol. The techniques discussed herein further support flexibility in allocating data for multiple UEs using SC-FDE by supporting assigning UEs to complete slots, assigning UEs to one or more symbols in a slot, or assigning UEs to one or more TRBs in a symbol.
[0035] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communications system.
[0036] Figure 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one or more NE 102, one or more UE 104, and a core network (CN) 106. The wireless communications system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE- Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a new radio (NR) network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultrawideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi), IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX), IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communicationssystem 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), or code division multiple access (CDMA), etc.
[0037] The one or more NE 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communications system 100. One or more of the NE 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a radio access network (RAN), a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB), a nextgeneration NodeB (gNB), or other suitable terminology. An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.
[0038] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc.) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a nonterrestrial network (NTN). In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with different NE 102.
[0039] The one or more UE 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (loT) device, an Internet-of- Everything (loE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.
[0040] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, orcellular-V2X deployments, the communication link may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.
[0041] An NE 102 may support communications with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with other NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., SI, N2, N6, or other network interface). In some implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106). In some implementations, one or more NE 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs).
[0042] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC), or a 5G core (5GC), which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management functions (AMF)) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)). In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc.) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NE 102 associated with the CN 106.
[0043] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an SI, N2, N6, or other network interface). The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session). The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106).
[0044] In the wireless communications system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers)) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications). In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures). The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.
[0045] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., / r=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., / r=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., / r=l) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., / r=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., / r=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., / r=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.
[0046] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames). Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.
[0047] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or morenumerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., / r=0, jU=l , / r=2, / r=3, / r=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols). In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing), a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., / r=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.
[0048] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz - 7.125 GHz), FR2 (24.25 GHz - 52.6 GHz), FR3 (7.125 GHz - 24.25 GHz), FR4 (52.6 GHz - 114.25 GHz), FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz - 71 GHz), and FR5 (114.25 GHz - 300 GHz). In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data). In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.
[0049] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies). For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., / r=0), which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., / r=l), which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., / r=2), which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies). For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., / r=2), which includes 60 kHzsubcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., / r=3), which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.
[0050] The techniques discussed herein describe different types for the NE 102 to allocate DMRS for multiple UEs 104 in a DL or UL slot when a SC-FDE waveform is used. The NE 102 allocates UE 104 data and DMRS in one or more time resource blocks (TRBs), the time resource block (TRB) being a block of contiguous sub-symbols (constellation points) defined as a unit for allocation within a SC-FDE symbol. DMRS of multiple UEs 104 for channel estimation can be allocated in time domain within one slot or within a symbol. Each UE 104 is configured with one or more SC-FDE symbols for DMRS or with one or more TRBs in a symbol for DMRS. DMRS can be front-loaded at the beginning of the slot or prior to data allocation of each UE scheduled in a slot or in a symbol. The NE 102 can signal one or more RRC messages to the UE 104 that contain the DMRS mapping type and DMRS configuration
[0051] Communication between devices discussed herein, such as between UEs 104 and network entities 102, is performed using any of a variety of different signaling. For example, such signaling can be any of various messages, requests, or responses, such as triggering messages, configuration messages, and so forth. By way of another example, such signaling can be any of various signaling mediums or protocols over which messages are conveyed, such as any combination of radio resource control (RRC), downlink control information (DCI), uplink control information (UCI), sidelink control information (SCI), medium access control element (MAC-CE), sidelink positioning protocol (SLPP), PC5 radio resource control (PC5-RRC) and so forth.
[0052] The DM-RS (also referred to as DMRS) reception procedures for physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) scheduled by physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with downlink control information (DCI) format 1_1 described in 3rdgeneration partnership project (3GPP) technical specification (TS) 38.214, clause 5.16.2, equally apply to PDSCH scheduled by PDCCH with DCI format 1_2, by applying the parameters of dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeA- DCI-1-2 and dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeB-DCI-1-2 instead of dmrs- DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeA and dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeB.
[0053] The DM-RS reception procedures for PDSCH scheduled by PDCCH with DCI format 1_1 equally apply to PDSCH scheduled by PDCCH with DCI format 4_2, by applying theparameters of dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeA and dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH- MappingTypeB in pdsch-ConfigMulticast instead of dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeA and dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeB in PDSCH-Config.
[0054] When receiving PDSCH scheduled by DCI format l_0, 4_0, or 4_1, or receiving PDSCH before dedicated higher layer configuration of any of the parameters dmrs- AdditionalPosition, maxLength and dmrs-Type, the UE shall assume that the PDSCH is not present in any symbol carrying DM-RS except for PDSCH with allocation duration of 2 symbols with PDSCH mapping type B (described in 3GPP TS 38.211, clause 7.4.1.1.2), and a single symbol front-loaded DM-RS of configuration type 1 on DM-RS port 1000 is transmitted, and that all the remaining orthogonal antenna ports are not associated with transmission of PDSCH to another UE and in addition:For PDSCH with mapping type A and type B, the UE shall assume dmrs- AdditionalPosition='pos2' and up to two additional single-symbol DM-RS present in a slot according to the PDSCH duration indicated in the DCI as defined in 3GPP TS 38.211 Clause 7.4.1.1, andFor PDSCH with allocation duration of 2 symbols with mapping type B, the UE shall assume that the PDSCH is present in the symbol carrying DM-RS.
[0055] When receiving PDSCH scheduled by DCI format 1_1 by PDCCH with cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by C-RNTI, MCS-C-RNTI, or CS-RNTI or DCI format 4_2 by PDCCH with CRC scrambled by G-RNTI for multicast or G-CS-RNTI, the UE may be configured with the higher layer parameter dmrs-Type, and the configured DM-RS configuration type is used for receiving PDSCH in as defined in 3GPP TS 38.211 Clause 7.4.1.1 of. The UE may be configured with the maximum number of front-loaded DM-RS symbols for PDSCH by higher layer parameter maxLength given by DMRS-DownlinkConfig: if maxLength is set to 'lenl', single-symbol DM-RS can be scheduled for the UE by DCI, and the UE can be configured with a number of additional DM-RS for PDSCH by higher layer parameter dmrs-AdditionalPosition, which can be set to 'posO', 'posl', 'pos2' or 'pos3'. if maxLength is set to 'len2', both single-symbol DM-RS and double symbol DM-RS can be scheduled for the UE by DCI, and the UE can be configured with a number of additionalDM-RS for PDSCH by higher layer parameter dmrs-AdditionalPosition, which can be set to 'posO' or 'post'. and the UE shall assume to receive additional DM-RS as specified in 3GPP TS 28.211 Table 7.4.1.1.2-3 and Table 7.4.1.1.2-4 as described in 3GPP TS 38.211 Clause 7.4.1.1.2.
[0056] For the UE-specific reference signals generation as defined in 3 GPP TS 38.211 Clause7.4.1.1, a UE can be configured by higher layers with one or two scrambling identity(s), nDMRS>li = 0,1 which are the same for both PDSCH mapping Type A and Type B.
[0057] A UE may be scheduled with a number of DM-RS ports by the antenna port index in DO format 1_1 as described in 3GPP TS 38.212 Clause 7.3.1.2.
[0058] For DM-RS configuration type 1, if a UE is scheduled with one codeword and assigned with the antenna port mapping with indices of {2, 9, 10, 11 or 30} in Table 7.3.1.2.2-1 and Table 7.3.1.2.2-2 of 3GPP TS 38.212 Clause 7.3.1.2, or if a UE is scheduled with one codeword and assigned with the antenna port mapping with indices of {2, 9, 10, 11 or 12} in Table 7.3.1.2.2-1 A and {2, 9, 10, 11, 30 or 31 } in Table 7.3.1.2.2-2A of 3GPP TS 38.212 Clause 7.3.1.2, or if a UE is scheduled with two codewords, the UE may assume that all the remaining orthogonal antenna ports are not associated with transmission of PDSCH to another UE.
[0059] For DM-RS configuration type 2, if a UE is scheduled with one codeword and assigned with the antenna port mapping with indices of {2, 10 or 23} in Table 7.3.1.2.2-3 and Table 7.3.1.2.2-4 of 3GPP TS 38.212 Clause 7.3.1.2, or if a UE is scheduled with one codeword and assigned with the antenna port mapping with indices of {2, 10, 23 or 24} in Table 7.3.1.2.2-3A and {2, 10, 23 or 58} in Table 7.3.1.2.2-4A of 3GPP TS 38.212 Clause 7.3.1.2, orif a UE is scheduled with two codewords, the UE may assume that all the remaining orthogonal antenna ports are not associated with transmission of PDSCH to another UE.
[0060] If a UE receiving PDSCH scheduled by DCI format 1_2 is configured with the higher layer parameter phaseTrackingRS in dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeA-DCI-1-2 or dmrs- DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeB-DCI-1-2 or a UE receiving PDSCH scheduled by DCI format l_0 or DCI format 1_1 is configured with the higher layer parameter phaseTrackingRS in dmrs- DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeA or dmrs-DownlinkForPDSCH-MappingTypeB, the UE may assume that the following configurations are not occurring simultaneously for the received PDSCH: any DM-RS ports among 1004-1007 or 1006-1011 for DM-RS configurations type 1 and type 2, respectively are scheduled for the UE and the other UE(s) sharing the DM-RS REs on the same code division multiplexing (CDM) group(s), andPT-RS is transmitted to the UE.
[0061] The UE is not expected to simultaneously be configured with the maximum number of front-loaded DM-RS symbols for PDSCH by higher layer parameter maxLength being set equal to 'len2' and more than one additional DM-RS symbol as given by the higher layer parameter dmrs- AdditionalPosition.
[0062] The UE is not expected to assume co-scheduled UE(s) with different DM-RS configuration with respect to the actual number of front-loaded DM-RS symbol(s), the actual number of additional DM-RS, the DM-RS symbol location, and DM-RS configuration type as described in 3GPP TS 38.211 Clause 7.4.1.1.
[0063] The UE does not expect the precoding of the potential co-scheduled UE(s) in other DM- RS ports of the same CDM group to be different in the precoding resource block group (PRG)-level grid configured to this UE with PRG =2 or 4.
[0064] The UE does not expect the resource allocation of the potential co-scheduled UE(s) in other DM-RS ports of the same CDM group to be misaligned in the PRG-level grid to this UE with PRG=2 or 4.
[0065] When receiving PDSCH scheduled by DCI format 1_1, the UE shall assume that the CDM groups indicated in the configured index from Tables 7.3.1.2.2-1, 7.3.1.2.2-1 A, 7.3.1.2.2-2,7.3.1.2.2-2A, 7.3.1.2.2-3, 7.3.1.2.2-3A, 7.3.1.2.2-4, 7.3.1.2.2-4A of 3GPP TS 38.212 contain potential co-scheduled downlink DM-RS and are not used for data transmission, where "1", "2" and "3" for the number of DM-RS CDM group(s) in Tables 7.3.1.2.2-1, 7.3.1.2.2-1A, 7.3.1.2.2-2,7.3.1.2.2-3, 7.3.1.2.2-3A, 7.3.1.2.2-4, 7.3.1.2.2-4A of 3GPP TS 38.212 correspond to CDM group 0, {0,1 }, {0,1,2}, respectively.
[0066] When receiving PDSCH scheduled by DCI format l_0, 4_0, or 4_1, the UE shall assume the number of DM-RS CDM groups without data is 1 which corresponds to CDM group 0 for the case of PDSCH with allocation duration of 2 symbols, and the UE shall assume that the number of DM-RS CDM groups without data is 2 which corresponds to CDM group {0,1 } for all other cases.
[0067] The UE is not expected to receive PDSCH scheduling DCI which indicates CDM group(s) with potential DM-RS ports which overlap with any configured CSI-RS resource(s) for that UE.
[0068] If the UE receives the DM-RS for PDSCH and an SS / PBCH block associated with the same physical cell ID (PCI) in the same OFDM symbol(s), then the UE may assume that the DM- RS and SS / PBCH block are quasi co-located with 'typeD', if 'typeD' is applicable. Furthermore, the UE shall not expect to receive DM-RS in resource elements that overlap with those of the SS / PBCH block associated with the same PCI as the DM-RS, and the UE can expect that the same or different subcarrier spacing is configured for the DM-RS and SS / PBCH block in a component carrier (CC) except for the case of 240 kHz where only different subcarrier spacing is supported. A DM-RS for PDSCH is said to be associated with an additional PCI if the indicated transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state for the PDSCH is associated with the additional PCI, otherwise a DM-RS for PDSCH is associated with serving cell PCI.
[0069] If at least one TCI codepoint indicates two TCI states and the UE receives the DM-RS for PDSCH and an SS / PBCH block in the same OFDM symbol(s), then the UE may assume that at least one DM-RS port for the PDSCH and SS / PBCH block are quasi co-located with 'QCL-TypeD', if 'QCL-TypeD' is applicable.
[0070] If the UE is configured by higher layer parameter PDCCH-Config that contains two different values of CORESETPoolIndex in different ControlResourceSets, and the UE receives the DM-RS for PDSCH(s) and an SS / PBCH block in the same OFDM symbol(s), then the UE may assume that at least one DM-RS port for the PDSCH(s) and SS / PBCH block are quasi co-located with 'QCL-TypeD', if 'QCL-TypeD' is applicable.
[0071] If a UE is configured by the higher layer parameter PDCCH-Config that contains two different values of coresetPoolIndex in ControlResourceSet, the UE may be scheduled with fully or partially overlapping PDSCHs in the time and frequency domain by multiple PDCCHs with the following restrictions, the UE is not expected to assume different DM-RS configuration with respect to the actual number of front-loaded DM-RS symbol(s), the actual number of additional DM-RS symbol(s), the actual DM-RS symbol location, and DM-RS configuration type. the UE is not expected to assume DM-RS ports in a CDM group indicated by two TCI states.
[0072] When a UE is not indicated with a DCI that DCI field 'Time domain resource assignment' indicating an entry which contains repetitionNumber in PDSCH- TimeDomainResourceAllocation, the UE is not configured with sfnSchemePdsch and it is indicated with two TCI states in a codepoint of the DCI field 'Transmission Configuration Indication' and DM-RS port(s) within two CDM groups in the DCI field 'Antenna Port(s)', the first TCI state corresponds to the CDM group of the first antenna port indicated by the antenna port indication table, and the second TCI state corresponds to the other CDM group.
[0073] If a UE is configured with higher layer parameter dmrs-FD-OCC-DisabledForRankl- PDSCH and the UE is scheduled with PDSCH with single DM-RS port, the UE may assume that set of orthogonal DM-RS antenna ports from the same CDM group using different set of Wf(k') codes are not associated with the transmission of PDSCH to another UE.
[0074] The techniques discussed herein provide different types for allocating DMRS for multiple UEs in a DL or UL slot when a SC-FDE waveform is used. UE data and DMRS areallocated in one or more TRBs, which is a block of contiguous sub-symbols (constellation points) defined as a unit for allocation within a SC-FDE symbol.
[0075] DMRS of multiple UEs for channel estimation can be allocated in time domain within one slot or within a symbol, each UE is configured with one or more SC-FDE symbols for DMRS or with one or more TRBs in a symbol for DMRS. DMRS can be front-loaded at the beginning of the slot or prior to data allocation of each UE scheduled in a slot or in a symbol. At least one RRC message is signaled to the UE that contains the DMRS mapping type and DMRS configuration.
[0076] The UE may assume the sequence g (n) of DMRS mapped to time domain resource elements (s, Z)paccording to:s = {0, 1, ... N1 = 1 + I' n = 0,1, ... where s is the time domain sub-symbol index in block I, N is the block or symbol length in number of samples, I is the SC-FDE symbol index, ws(s) is either +1 or -1 for all samples in a DMRS block, and p is the antenna port. For SC or SC-FDE waveform, the UE is not expected to receive RS other than DMRS or other data channels within the time duration of DMRS.
[0077] Figure 2 illustrates an example 200 of allocating DMRS for a UE in an SC-FDE slot in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 200, the illustrated SC-FDE slot includes multiple SC-FDE symbols, each SC-FDE symbol including a guard interval (GI) and a DMRS sequence (seq) for a UE (illustrated as UE1), or a GI and data for the UE (illustrated as UE1). As illustrated, the DMRS is within the FFT length of the SC-FDE symbol.
[0078] In one or more implementations, for UE data allocated in one or more SC-FDE symbols in a slot, where the slot contains one or more UEs, one or more DMRS symbols for channel estimation for each UE is inserted prior to the data symbols of each UE. The NE (e.g., base station) configures the UE with DMRS mapping type for DL or UL and with the corresponding time information. An RRC message, for example, is signaled to the UE that contains the DMRS type and time domain configuration.
[0079] Figure 3 illustrates an example of a data configuration message 300 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The data configuration message 300 includes DMRS configuration as illustrated, including a mapping type (dmrs-MappingType), whether time domain orthogonal cover code (OCC) is disabled (dmrs-TD-OCC-Disabled), and maximum multiple-input, multipleoutput (MIMO) layers (maxMIMO-Layers).
[0080] The time domain data allocation of resources can be either periodic or semi-persistent, for which the DMRS is configured via RRC, or can be dynamically configured. For the dynamic allocation of time resources, a UE can be configured by the NE (e.g., base station) using the control channel with time information of one or more DMRS symbols in a slot along with time resource allocation information. The information may include the starting DMRS symbol and the number of additional DMRS symbols in the slot.
[0081] For multiple UEs sharing the DL or UL slot, DMRS for each UE is inserted (or included), in one implementation, prior to the corresponding data symbols of that UE (typeO).
[0082] Figure 4 illustrates an example 400 of DMRS allocation of UEs in a slot in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 400, the DMRS for each UE is inserted (or included) prior to the corresponding data symbols of that UE (typeO). In the example 400, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, and the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines. This configuration helps in case of time variation of the channel due to Doppler or the variation due to phase noise.
[0083] Additionally or alternatively, DMRS are inserted in separate consecutive symbols among the first symbols of the slot (typel), which can be used in case of low time variation of the channel.
[0084] Figure 5 illustrates an example 500 of DMRS allocation of multiple UEs in a slot in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 500, DMRS are inserted in separate consecutive symbols among the first symbols of the slot (typel). In the example 500, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines, and the DMRS and data for UE3 are illustrated with crosshatching. This configuration enables the NE (e.g., base station) UL receiver to perform channel estimation stage of all UEs together before starting de-mapping and equalizing the UE’s data. Additionally or alternatively, at least one cell specific DMRS symbol can be used for multiple UEs scheduled in theslot (type2). For example, if the multiple UEs uses the same beam or transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state.
[0085] Additionally or alternatively, DMRS of different UEs are inserted in overlapped symbols in time.
[0086] Figure 6 illustrates an example 600 of orthogonal overlapped DMRS symbols for multiple UEs in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 600, DMRS of different UEs are inserted (or included) in overlapped symbols in time. In the example 600, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines, and the DMRS and data for UE3 are illustrated with crosshatching.
[0087] In the example 600 the orthogonal sequences are overlapped using a Zadoff-Chu sequence or any other sequence (e.g., with good cross and auto-correlation properties). The sequence can be generated based on circulating the base sequence with shifts correspond to UE identities, e.g., C-RNTI. Additionally or alternatively, DMRS for different UEs are orthogonal in time within the same symbol by interleaving the DMRS samples of different UEs in non-overlapped sub-symbols.
[0088] For UEs with MIMO support, DMRS of different antenna ports are inserted in a consecutive symbol.
[0089] Figure 7 illustrates an example 700 of time-division multiplexing (TDM) DMRS symbols for multi-antenna port transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 700, DMRS of different antenna ports are inserted (or included) in consecutive symbols. In the example 700, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines, and the DMRS and data for UE3 are illustrated with crosshatching.
[0090] The length of the DMRS can be configurable. In one or more implementations, more than length 2 DMRS can be configured for a UE. The maximum number of orthogonal DMRS ports depends on the length of DMRS. For example, if length 2 DMRS is configured, then a maximum of 2 orthogonal ports can be used. If length 4 DMRS is configured, then a maximum of 4 orthogonal ports can be used. In one or more implementations, the UE is not expected to apply FDM, FD-OCCor any comb pattern for DMRS. For example, only time-domain multiplexing such as TDM or time domain orthogonal cover code TD-OCC may be applied.
[0091] Block wise OCC can be applied over the consecutive DMRS symbols. This parameter can be disabled via RRC message, for example if the channel rank is 1. The number of maximum MIMO layers can be signaled to the UE via RRC message, and the configured antenna ports or the TCI states can be signaled to the UE via control channel.
[0092] In one or more implementations, DMRS sequences for different antenna ports of a UE are overlapped in time using orthogonal sequences.
[0093] Figure 8 illustrates an example 800 of overlapped DMRS sequences for multi-antenna port transmission in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 800, DMRS sequences for different antenna ports (e.g., antenna port 0 (AP #0) and antenna port 1 (AP #1)) of a UE are overlapped in time using orthogonal sequences. In the example 800, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, and the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines.
[0094] The different antenna ports of a UE are overlapped in time using orthogonal sequences, such as a Golay sequence or a circular Zadoff-Chu sequence, where orthogonality helps in reducing the interference and circularity helps in resolving the different channel taps from different antennas. Additionally or alternatively, DMRS for different antenna ports are orthogonal in time within the same symbol by interleaving the DMRS samples of different antenna ports in non-overlapped subsymbols.
[0095] In one or more implementations, DMRS for multiple UEs sharing SC-FDE symbols are allocated within one or more symbols. An RRC message, for example, is signaled to the UE that contains the DMRS mapping type. The UE is configured with different DMRS types depending on data allocation. For a UE assigned with one or more TRBs in a symbol, DMRS for each UE is inserted (e.g., included), for example, in separate symbols prior to the shared data symbol.
[0096] Figure 9 illustrates an example 900 of allocating complete DMRS symbols for multiple UEs scheduled in a SC-FDE symbol in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 900, DMRS for each UE is inserted (e.g., included), for example, in separate symbols priorto the shared data symbol. In the example 900, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, and the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines.
[0097] Additionally or alternatively, DMRS for each scheduled UE is inserted within the SC- FDE symbol prior to each scheduled UE data in that symbol.
[0098] Figure 10 illustrates an example 1000 of allocating DMRS in part of an SC-FDE symbol for multiple UEs scheduled in a symbol in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example 1000, DMRS for each scheduled UE is inserted within the SC-FDE symbol prior to each scheduled UE data in that symbol. In the example 1000, the DMRS and data for UE1 are illustrated with vertical lines, and the DMRS and data for UE2 are illustrated with horizontal lines. This configuration can be used, for example, for small delay spread scenarios. Since the DMRS is within the FFT length of the SC-FDE symbol multiplexed with data, the time domain channel estimation is performed at the receiver, and to reduce the interference between data and DMRS a small gap (illustrated as a time gap) can be inserted between the DMRS portion and data portion of the symbol.
[0099] Additionally or alternatively, DMRS of different UEs are sharing the same DMRS portion of the symbol, where DMRS for different UEs are orthogonal in time using interleaving of sub-symbols or using orthogonal sequences overlapped in the DMRS portion of in the SC-FDE symbol.
[0100] Accordingly, using the techniques discussed herein, different types of allocating and configuration of DMRS for multiple UEs in a SC-FDE slot is performed. Additionally or alternatively, allocating orthogonal DMRS of multiple UEs non-overlapped in one symbol using TDM by interleaving the sub-symbols is performed. Additionally or alternatively, allocating orthogonal DMRS of multiple UEs overlapped in one symbol using orthogonal sequences is performed. Additionally or alternatively, allocating orthogonal DMRS of multiple UEs nonoverlapped in one part of the symbol using TDM by interleaving the sub-symbols is performed. Additionally or alternatively, allocating orthogonal DMRS of multiple UEs overlapped in one part of the symbol using orthogonal sequences is performed.

A processor for wireless communication, comprising: at least one controller coupled with at least one memory and configured to cause the processor to: receive a first signaling indicating a configuration message for demodulation reference signal (DMRS) mapping type for downlink (DL) or uplink (UL) transmission using a single carrier with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) waveform; receive a second signaling indicating a configuration of time allocation information of overlapped or non-overlapped DMRS of one or more additional user equipments (UEs) in a SC-FDE symbol of a DL slot or an UL slot; and receive a third signaling indicating a configuration of time allocation information of overlapped or non-overlapped DMRS of multiple antenna ports, of a user equipment (UE) that includes the processor, in the SC-FDE symbol of the DL slot or the UL slot.
16. The processor of claim 15, wherein one or more DMRS symbols of the UE are included in a beginning of the DL slot or the UL slot.
17. The processor of claim 15, wherein one or more DMRS symbols of the UE are included in an allocation portion for the UE followed by UE data symbols.
18. The processor of claim 15, wherein one or more DMRS symbols of the UE are included in a same symbol that includes one or more DMRS symbols of the one or more additional UEs.
19. A method performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising: receiving a first signaling indicating a configuration message for demodulation reference signal (DMRS) mapping type for downlink (DL) or uplink (UL) transmission using a single carrier with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) waveform; receiving a second signaling indicating a configuration of time allocation information of overlapped or non-overlapped DMRS of one or more additional UEs in a SC-FDE symbol of a DL slot or an UL slot; andreceiving a third signaling indicating a configuration of time allocation information of overlapped or non-overlapped DMRS of multiple antenna ports of the UE in the SC-FDE symbol of the DL slot or the UL slot.
20. The method of claim 19, wherein one or more DMRS symbols of the UE are included in a beginning of the DL slot or the UL slot.
