[0052] Implementation Methods of the Application

[0053] The present application provides a display panel. To make the purpose, technical solution, and effects of the present application clearer and more explicit, the present application is further described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples. It should be understood that the specific examples described herein are only used to explain the present application and are not intended to limit the present application.

[0054] Currently, the microlens structure used in a display panel has limited effect on improving the light extraction efficiency of the display panel, and there is a technical problem that it is difficult to effectively improve the light extraction efficiency of the display panel.

[0055] Referring to FIG. 2 to FIG. 11 , an embodiment of the present application provides a display panel 100 , including:

[0056] substrate 101;

[0057] A light-emitting layer 102 is provided on one side of the substrate 101, and the light-emitting layer 102 includes a plurality of pixel units 102a;

[0058] an insulating layer 103 disposed on a side of the light-emitting layer 102 away from the substrate 101 , the insulating layer 103 including a plurality of raised portions 104 corresponding to the pixel units 102 a and grooves 105 between adjacent raised portions 104 ;

[0059] a flat layer 106 , disposed on a side of the insulating layer 103 away from the substrate 101 , wherein the refractive index of the flat layer 106 is smaller than that of the insulating layer 103 ;

[0060] In which, the side wall 107 of the raised portion 104 includes a first side wall curve 108, and the first side wall curve 108 is formed by the intersection of the side wall 107 and the cross section perpendicular to the substrate 101. The first side wall curve 108 includes a first arc line 108a and a second arc line 108b. The center point of the first arc line 108a is located on the side of the side wall 107 that deviates from the raised portion 104, and the center point of the second arc line 108b is located on the side of the side wall 107 that deviates from the groove 105.

[0061] In the embodiment of the present application, a first sidewall curve 108 is formed by setting the sidewall of the protrusion 104. The first sidewall curve 108 forms a first arc 108a whose center point is located on the side of the sidewall deviating from the protrusion 104 and a second arc 108b whose center point is located on the side of the sidewall deviating from the groove 105, thereby effectively improving the light extraction efficiency of the display panel, reducing the power consumption of the display panel, and extending the service life of the display panel.

[0062] The technical solution of this application is now described in conjunction with specific embodiments.

[0063] In this embodiment, referring to Figures 5, 6, and 8, the center point O1 of the first arc 108a is the center point of a circle corresponding to at least three points on the first arc 108a. The center point O1 of the first arc 108a is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that is closer to the protrusion 104. In other words, the center point of the circle corresponding to at least three points on the first arc 108a is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that is closer to the protrusion 104.

[0064] In this embodiment, referring to Figures 5, 6, and 8, the center point O2 of the second arc 108b is the center point of a circle corresponding to at least three points on the second arc 108b. The center point O2 of the second arc 108b is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that deviates from the groove 105. In other words, the center point of the circle corresponding to at least three points on the second arc 108b is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that deviates from the groove 105.

[0065] In some embodiments, the first curved line 108a is convex toward the groove 105, and the second curved line 108b is concave toward the protrusion 104. Referring to Figures 1 and 4, when the first sidewall curve 108 includes the first curved line 108a and the second curved line 108b, compared to when the first sidewall curve 108 is a straight line, due to the difference in normal direction, more light emitted by the pixel unit 102a that is incident on the sidewall 107 and exits the sidewall 107 can be emitted in a direction perpendicular to the display surface of the display panel, thereby further improving the effect of the protrusion 104 on improving the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100. The different protrusion and depression directions of the first arc 108a and the second arc 108b facilitates improving the emission angle of light emitted by the pixel unit 102a, incident on the sidewall 107, and emitted from the sidewall as much as possible, so that as much light as possible is emitted in a direction perpendicular to the display surface of the display panel, thereby further improving the effect of the raised portion 104 on improving the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100. It will be understood that in this application, "light is emitted in a direction perpendicular to the display surface of the display panel" means that the angle between the emission direction of the light and the display surface of the display panel is between 85 degrees and 95 degrees.

[0066] In some embodiments, the first arc line 108 a is disposed between the second arc line 108 b and the substrate 101 . Alternatively, the second arc line 108 b is disposed between the first arc line 108 a and the substrate 101 .

[0067] Referring to FIG6 , when multiple light rays from L1 to L4 are incident on the sidewall 107, the normals of the incident light rays in the continuously alternating convex-then-concave arcs from the substrate 101 to the raised portion 104 are different. Therefore, the light rays can be emitted perpendicular to the display surface of the display panel while satisfying the law of refraction, thereby improving the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100 at normal viewing angles. Referring again to FIG8 , when multiple light rays from L1 to L4 are incident on the sidewall 107, in the continuously alternating concave-then-convex arcs from the substrate 101 to the raised portion 104, many light rays (such as light ray 3) are totally reflected due to the excessively large incident angle at the intersection of the first and second arcs 108a, 108b, thereby reducing the light extraction efficiency. Therefore, preferably, the first arc 108a is positioned between the second arc 108b and the substrate 101.

[0068] In some embodiments, the raised portion 104 includes a first surface 109 proximal to the substrate 101 and a second surface 110 distal to the substrate 101. The first surface 109 and the second surface 110 intersect with the same cross section perpendicular to the substrate 101 to form a first intersection line 109a and a second intersection line 110a. The first arc 108a and the second arc 108b are disposed between the first intersection line 109a and the second intersection line 110a. The first arc 108a includes a first vertex, which is the point on the first arc 108a farthest from the center of the first arc 108a; or, when the first arc 108a is a circular arc, the first vertex is the midpoint of the first arc 108a. The second arc 108b includes a second vertex, which is the point on the second arc 108b farthest from the center of the second arc 108b; or, when the second arc 108b is a circular arc, the second vertex is the midpoint of the second arc 108b. 6 to 9 , it can also be demonstrated from another perspective that the first arc 108a is preferably disposed between the second arc 108b and the substrate 101. Specifically, the first arc 108a and the second arc 108b in the first sidewall curve 108 in FIG6 and FIG9 can be approximated by a straight edge (as shown in FIG7 and FIG9 ), that is, the first sidewall curve 108 is fitted into three straight lines by connecting an end of a first intersection line 109a on the side of the protrusion 104 close to the substrate 101 close to the first arc 108a and the first vertex of the first arc 108a, the first vertex of the first arc 108a and the second vertex of the second arc 108b in the same first sidewall curve 108, and the end of the second arc 108b and the second intersection line 110a close to the second arc 108b. When the first arc 108a is located between the second arc 108b and the substrate 101, the angles between each straight line segment and the first intersection line 109a along the direction from the protrusion 104 to the substrate 101 are θ1, θ2, and θ3. When the second arc 108b is located between the first arc 108a and the substrate 101, the angles between each straight line segment and the first intersection line 109a along the direction from the protrusion 104 to the substrate 101 are θ4, θ5, and θ6. When the shapes of each first arc 108a and each second arc 108b are the same, θ1 = θ6 and θ3 = θ4. The differences between the two structures are mainly concentrated in θ2 and θ5, where θ5 is greater than θ2. As shown in FIG. 11 , when the angle is greater than 30 degrees, the improvement in the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100 decreases as the angle increases. Therefore, when the first curved line 108 a is located between the second curved line 108 b and the substrate 101 , the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100 is higher.

[0069] In some embodiments, along the direction from the substrate 101 to the protrusion 104, an end of the first arc 108a close to the second arc 108b is tangent to an end of the second arc 108b close to the first arc 108a, so as to facilitate a smooth transition between the first arc 108a and the second arc 108b.

[0070] In some embodiments, the curved surface of the first sidewall curve 108 that is convex toward the side away from the first intersection line 109a makes it easier for light incident on the sidewall 107 to be emitted perpendicularly to the display surface of the display panel at the sidewall 107. Therefore, the first curved line 108a has a first height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, and the second curved line 108b has a second height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, wherein the first height is greater than or equal to the second height.

[0071] In some embodiments, the center points of multiple arcs in the first sidewall curve 108 are located on the side of the sidewall 107 deviating from the protrusion 104 , and the center point of at least one end of the arc is located on the side of the sidewall 107 deviating from the groove 105 .

[0072] Referring to Figures 10 and 11 , in some embodiments, the first sidewall curve 108 further includes a third arc 108c, the center point of which is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that deviates toward the raised portion 104. The second arc 108b is disposed between the first arc 108a and the third arc 108c. The center point of the third arc 108c is the center point of a circle corresponding to at least three points on the third arc 108c. Specifically, the third arc 108c is convex toward the groove 105. Along the direction from the substrate 101 to the raised portion 104, an end of the third arc 108c close to the second arc 108b is tangent to an end of the second arc 108b close to the third arc 108c, and an end of the first arc 108a close to the second arc 108b is tangent to an end of the second arc 108b close to the first arc 108a, so as to facilitate a smooth transition between the first arc 108a, the second arc 108b and the third arc 108c.

[0073] In some embodiments, the first arc 108a has a first height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, the second arc 108b has a second height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, and the third arc 108c has a third height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, wherein the sum of the first height and the third height is greater than or equal to the second height. Preferably, the first height is greater than or equal to the second height, and the second height is greater than or equal to the third height.

[0074] Referring to Figures 10 and 11 , in some embodiments, the first sidewall curve 108 further includes a fourth arc 108d, the center point of which is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that deviates from the groove 105. The third arc 108c is disposed between the second arc 108b and the fourth arc 108d. The center point of the fourth arc 108d is the center point of a circle corresponding to at least three points on the fourth arc 108d. Specifically, the fourth arc 108d is recessed toward the protrusion 104. The end of the fourth arc 108d closest to the third arc 108c is tangent to the end of the third arc 108c closest to the fourth arc 108d, thereby facilitating a smooth transition between the multiple arc segments that comprise the first sidewall curve 108.

[0075] In some embodiments, the fourth arc 108d has a fourth height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, and the sum of the first height and the third height is greater than or equal to the sum of the second height and the fourth height. Preferably, the first height is greater than or equal to the second height, and the third height is greater than or equal to the fourth height.

[0076] Referring to Figures 10 and 11 , in some embodiments, the first sidewall curve 108 further includes a fifth arc 108e, the center point of which is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that deviates toward the raised portion 104. The fourth arc 108d is disposed between the third arc 108c and the fifth arc 108e. The center point of the fifth arc 108e is the center point of a circle corresponding to at least three points on the fifth arc 108e. Specifically, the fifth arc 108e protrudes toward the groove 105. The end of the fifth arc 108e that is closest to the fourth arc 108d is tangent to the end of the fourth arc 108d that is closest to the fifth arc 108e, thereby facilitating a smooth transition between the multiple arc segments that comprise the first sidewall curve 108.

[0077] In some embodiments, the fifth arc 108e has a fifth height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101, and the sum of the first height, the third height, and the fifth height is greater than or equal to the sum of the second height and the fourth height. Preferably, the fifth height is less than or equal to the fourth height.

[0078] Referring to Figures 10 and 11 , in some embodiments, the first sidewall curve 108 further includes a sixth arc 108f, the center point of which is located on the side of the sidewall 107 that deviates from the groove 105. The fifth arc 108e is disposed between the fourth arc 108d and the sixth arc 108f. The center point of the sixth arc 108f is the center point of a circle corresponding to at least three points on the sixth arc 108f. Specifically, the sixth arc 108f is recessed toward the protrusion 104. The end of the sixth arc 108f closest to the fifth arc 108e is tangent to the end of the fifth arc 108e closest to the sixth arc 108f, thereby facilitating a smooth transition between the multiple arc segments that comprise the first sidewall curve 108.

[0079] In some embodiments, the sixth arc 108f has a sixth height in a direction perpendicular to the substrate 101. The sum of the first height, the third height, and the fifth height is greater than or equal to the sum of the second height, the fourth height, and the sixth height. Preferably, the first height is greater than or equal to the second height, the third height is greater than or equal to the fourth height, and the fifth height is greater than or equal to the sixth height.

[0080] In some embodiments, a first acute angle formed by a tangent line of the first arc 108a passing through the first vertex and intersecting the first intersection line 109a is between 20 degrees and 55 degrees, for example, 30 degrees, 35 degrees, 40 degrees, 45 degrees, 50 degrees, etc.; and / or a second acute angle formed by a tangent line of the second arc 108b passing through the second vertex and intersecting the first intersection line 109a is between 20 degrees and 55 degrees, for example, 30 degrees, 35 degrees, 40 degrees, 45 degrees, 50 degrees, etc. Referring to FIG. 12 , the inventors discovered that the first acute angle α formed between the tangent line of the first arc 108a at the first vertex and the first intersection line 109a and / or the second acute angle β formed between the tangent line of the second arc 108b at the second vertex and the first intersection line 109a improve the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100 (e.g., green pixel unit) by first increasing and then decreasing. When the first acute angle α formed by the first arc 108a between the tangent of the first vertex and the first intersection line 109a and / or the second acute angle β formed by the second arc 108b between the tangent of the second vertex and the first intersection line 109a is less than 30 degrees, the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100 is improved as the angle increases; when the first acute angle α formed by the first arc 108a between the tangent of the first vertex and the first intersection line 109a and / or the second acute angle β formed by the second arc 108b between the tangent of the second vertex and the first intersection line 109a is greater than 30 degrees, the light extraction efficiency of the display panel 100 decreases as the angle increases.
