Abstract

The present technology relates to an image processing device, an image processing method, and a program that make it possible to provide a high-definition image even in a small device. The image processing device comprises: a shift control unit that controls a shift mechanism for shifting an image displayed on an image display unit by a prescribed amount; and a generation unit that generates first image data of an image to be displayed in a high-definition area set as a high-definition area of the image display unit, and second image data of an image to be displayed in a normal area other than the high-definition area. The frame rate of the high-definition area is set to an integral multiple of the frame rate of the normal area, and is synchronized with the display of the image based on the first image data on the image display unit, and the shift mechanism is controlled by the shift control unit. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a head-mounted display.
