Abstract
A shopping cart chassis comprising: a frontal frame having spaced apart front frame members with an upper and lower transverse frontal frame sections extending therebetween, the frontal frame members being sufficiently spaced apart to accommodate one or more shopping baskets therebetween wherein each of the frontal frame members comprises a mounting mechanism for allowing one or more shopping baskets to be mounted onto the spaced apart frontal frame members to allow said mounted shopping baskets to undergo a tilting movement relative to the frontal frame members; a rear frame having spaced apart rear frame members wherein an upper portion of each rear frame member is pivotally linked to a respective frontal frame member at a linking location that is spaced away from the upper and lower transverse frontal frame members to allow the rear frame to be folded towards the frontal frame in a stowed configuration or extended away from the frontal frame in an extended configuration and wherein a lower portion of each rear frame member comprises ground engaging wheels to allow the lower transverse front frame section to be tilted between a lowered position and a raised position and for allowing the shopping cart to be wheeled on the ground by pulling or pushing the upper transverse frontal frame section.
