AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional cylindrical batteries face issues with high electrical resistance and risk of separator damage due to varying compressive stress on the separator, especially when multiple positive electrode tabs are used, which increases the risk of separator damage.

Method used

The cylindrical battery design includes a positive electrode with long positive electrode cores and exposed portions, where positive electrode tabs are joined at specific intervals and lengths, with at least one exposed portion having a circumferential length of 0.75 or more turns, to reduce electrical resistance and minimize separator damage.

Benefits of technology

This design effectively reduces electrical resistance and suppresses separator damage, ensuring a safer and more efficient battery performance by optimizing the arrangement of positive electrode tabs and exposed portions.

Abstract

Provided are three or more first positive electrode core body exposed parts (31), which are at one end of a positive electrode (11) in the width direction and at which a surface of a positive electrode core body (30) is exposed. One positive electrode tab (20) is joined to each of the positive electrode core body exposed parts (31). The positive electrode tab (20), which is other than those at both ends of the positive electrode (11) in the longitudinal direction, is joined in a longitudinal direction range from a position at inner three-peripheral windings to a position at outer three-peripheral windings with respect to reference positions determined on the basis of the joining positions of the positive electrode tabs (20) at both ends in the longitudinal direction and arranged at equal intervals in the longitudinal direction. The three or more first positive electrode core body exposed parts (31) include a second positive electrode core body exposed part (31a) having a circumferential length of 0.75 circumference or greater.
