Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for video processing. A method for video processing is proposed. The method comprises: obtaining, for a conversion between a video unit of a video and a bitstream of the video, a sample of the video unit by applying a first target coding mode, wherein the first target coding mode comprises an inter prediction and a coding tool, and the video unit comprises a plurality of sub-partitions or a plurality of sub-blocks; and performing the conversion based on the obtained sample.
