[0001] SUCTION CUP ASSOCIATED WITH MINIATURE MUSHROOM HOOKS AS FASTENER

[0002] The apparatus is composed of a standard suction cup which has been modified on its outer / upper surface to include a hook type interface for attachment to complimentary materials.

[0003] The apparatus attaches to the frame of the window / door at each corner of the opening. A net type material for air filtration and insect repellent can then be attached to the apparatus , thereby providing a

[0004] screen over the window / door opening in an extremely fast and easy manner. The apparatus is completely dry with no glue or other sticky materials being used.

[0005] The apparatus provides a much more efficient solution in terms of effort and time taken, can be reused, is multi-purpose, requires fewer materials in its manufacturing process and fulfils all the needs of its previous counterparts but more efficiently with less wastage involved and thereby providing a greener more eco-friendly solution.

[0006] The alternative solutions are:The attachment of sticky velcro strips around entire circumference of window / door frame which cannot be removed unless for disposal purposes. Labour intensive and time consuming.The attachment of a metal / magnetic strip around the edge of the window frame opening to which a fixed magnetic screen is attached. The metal strip around the opening cannot be removed unless for disposal purposes.Built-in screens to the window frames which slide backwards and forwards. This solution is provided at time of manufacturing of windows.Separate bespoke frames being built around the window opening with pull down screens for insect protection. Extremely costly and time consuming .

[0007] There is no solution on the market at the moment which is as fast and whereby fewer materials are being used. The apparatus is multipurpose and can be reused whilst being easily removed when not in use.

Claims

A fixing apparatus and comprising, on a first side, a suction cup for securing the apparatus to the surface and, on a second opposed side, an array of mushroom shaped hooks to allow a further material of complimentary construction to be secured to the apparatus.A kit of parts for providing an insect screen for a window or door and comprising a plurality of fixing apparatus according to claim 1, and a sheet of mesh material provided with said complimentary material at one or more edge regions.
