The method comprises: acquiring an occupant image, and carrying out image segmentation on the occupant image to obtain a safety belt area in the occupant image; carrying out key point detection on the occupant image to obtain a key point area formed by key points; and on the basis of the safety belt area and the key point area, determining whether an occupant is wearing a safety belt; when it is determined that the occupant is wearing the safety belt, on the basis of the safety belt area and the key point area, determining a first key point sub-area and a second key point sub-area formed by dividing the key point area by the safety belt area; and on the basis of the first key point sub-area and the second key point sub-area, determining whether the safety belt wearing posture of the occupant is correct. The safety belt wearing status is detected by means of the safety belt area and the key point area, thereby improving the detection efficiency while ensuring the detection accuracy.
