Abstract
The use of a composition containing Monascus and Ginkgo biloba extracts in the preparation of a drug, kit or health care product for reducing the serum HDL-3 level in a subject. The composition reduces the serum HDL-3 level while not reducing, or even increasing the HDL-C level, which is mainly manifested as an increase in the HDL-2b level. Therefore, the composition is an HDL-C subclass modulator, and is suitable for subjects who expect to increase the overall HDL-C level and reduce the HDL-3 level.
