Abstract

Various object transportation gripping devices and methods of controlling object transportation gripping devices are provided. An example method includes receiving a collision force of a collision for a gripping mechanism. The gripping mechanism is configured to engage with an object, and wherein the collision force is recorded by a collision detection mechanism coupled to the gripping mechanism. The method also includes determining a collision type based on the collision force. The collision type indicates whether the gripping mechanism is in contact with the object. The method further includes causing the gripping mechanism to engage with the object in an instance in which the collision type indicates that the gripping mechanism is in contact with the object.
