Abstract
A reinforced portal provides enhanced protection against ballistic impacts and explosions for safe rooms, bomb shelters, and security applications. The portal includes an external structure formed from two plates and four panels that enclose an internal space. At least one container filled with liquid is positioned within the internal space to absorb impact energy. The modular external structure comprises a first plate functioning as a front side, a second plate as a back side, and four panels serving as side jambs, threshold, and head jamb. Multiple containers can be arranged in layers to minimize liquid loss when punctured. The liquid pressure inside containers exceeds ambient pressure to enhance structural integrity. An assembly method involves providing liquid-filled containers and separate structural components, positioning the containers within the framework, and attaching the components together. This modular approach enables easier transportation and installation compared to conventional reinforced portals while maintaining superior protective performance.
