Abstract
Description
Lyocell dope, lyocell material, filter for smoking articles, smoking articles and methods for manufacturing the same
[0001] The present application relates to a lyocell dope, a lyocell material, a filter containing the same, a smoking article, and a method for manufacturing the same.
[0002] Until now, cellulose acetate fibers have been primarily used as materials for cigarette filters. Although cellulose acetate is known to be a biodegradable material, filters made of cellulose acetate for smoking products maintain their original form for one to two years even after being buried in the soil, and it takes a considerable amount of time for them to completely biodegrade. Considering the volume and toxicity of tobacco products—not only those recovered as waste and landfilled after use but also those dumped and left in the living environment—it is necessary to further improve the biodegradability of filters for smoking products. Accordingly, lyocell, which is more environmentally friendly, is recently being selected as a replacement material for cellulose acetate.
[0003] One objective of the present application is to provide a lyocell dope with improved performance.
[0004] Another objective of the present application is to provide a lyocell material that can replace commercially available cellulose acetate for filters for smoking products.

[0006] Another objective of the present application is to provide a lyocell filter for smoking articles.
[0007] Another object of the present application is to provide a smoking article (e.g., a cigarette) comprising a lyocell filter.

[0009] Specifically, a lyocell dope comprising NMMO (N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide) and pulp dissolved in said NMMO may be provided, wherein the angle of repose of the pulp is 65° or less.
[0010] Additionally, a lyocell material may be provided comprising a crimped lyocell multifilament, wherein the lyocell multifilament is obtained by spinning a lyocell dope according to any one of the exemplary embodiments.
[0011] In addition, a filter for a lyocell smoking article comprising a lyocell material according to any one of the exemplary embodiments may be provided.
[0012] According to another embodiment of the present application, a smoking article comprising the lyocell material or filter may be provided.
[0013] According to another embodiment of the present application, the lyocell material, a filter containing the same, and a method for manufacturing a smoking article may be provided.
[0014]
[0015] In this specification, "smoking article" may refer to an article capable of generating an aerosol, such as a cigarette, a cigar, etc. In this regard, a smoking article may include an aerosol-generating substance or an aerosol-forming substrate. Additionally, a smoking article may include a solid material based on tobacco raw materials, such as sheet tobacco, cut tobacco, or reconstituted tobacco. Furthermore, a smoking substance may include a volatile compound.
[0016] Unless otherwise specifically defined in this specification, if the characteristics of a lyocell material, a filter for a smoking article, and related components or compositions are affected by temperature, the temperature at which such characteristics are identified or measured may be room temperature. In this case, room temperature is a temperature that is not specifically cooled or heated, and may be, for example, 10 to 35 ℃, specifically 15 to 35 ℃, 20 to 30 ℃, or about 25 ℃.
[0017] The present application relates to a lyocell material. The lyocell material may be used in smoking articles, and, although not particularly limited, may be used in filters for smoking articles.
[0018] The present invention will be described in more detail below.
[0019]
[0020] A lyocell dope comprising NMMO (N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide) and pulp dissolved in NMMO is provided, wherein the angle of repose of the pulp is 65° or less.
[0021] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the angle of repose of the pulp may be 30° or more.
[0022] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the angle of repose may be a value measured before the pulp is dissolved in NMMO.
[0023] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the degree of dispersion of the pulp may be 50% or less.
[0024] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the degree of dispersion of the pulp may be 10% or more.
[0025] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the degree of dispersion may be a value measured before the pulp is dissolved in NMMO.
[0026] The floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may be 80 or less.
[0027] The floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may be 40 or higher.
[0028] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the flow rate non-uniformity of the pulp may be 15% or less.
[0029] In one embodiment, the angle of repose, dispersion, and floodability of the pulp may be values measured using a Multi Tester. For example, a Multi Tester from Seishin Enterprise (model name: MT-02 (Measuring Instrument of Multi-functional powder properties)) may be used. The angle of repose of the ground pulp may be a value measured according to DIN EN ISO 4324 (1983-12).
[0030] To measure the angle of repose, a predetermined amount of pulp can be free-fallen to form a conical pile on a plate. Then, the height and base diameter of the pile are measured, and the angle of repose can be calculated as the angle of inclination at which the force naturally stops. The angle of repose can be used as an indicator of the fluidity of the pulp. For example, a larger angle of repose may indicate lower fluidity, as the pulp aggregates or the friction between particles increases.
[0031] The degree of dispersion of the pulp indicates the extent to which the powder is dispersed under drop, impact, and / or airflow, and can be measured as a mass ratio. More specifically, a predetermined amount of pulp can be dropped into a standard cylindrical or glass container, and the mass of the collected fine fraction can be measured. The degree of dispersion can be calculated as the ratio of the mass of the collected fine fraction to the total mass of the pulp. For example, a higher degree of dispersion value may mean that the pulp has a greater tendency to generate dust or flushing into the air during transport or discharge.
[0032] Flooding can be expressed as an index indicating the tendency of powder to suddenly overflow (flushing) or eject when subjected to stimuli such as vibration or air entrainment. To measure flooding, it can be observed how rapidly the bulk pulp disperses or fluidizes under stimuli such as vibration or air entrainment.
[0033] According to one embodiment, a cone-shaped pile can be formed by freely dropping a predetermined amount of crushed pulp from a hopper, and the drop angle can be measured. Subsequently, the collapse angle can be measured by applying vibration to the cone-shaped pile using a Multi Tester. In addition, the dispersion of fine pulp particles generated through air entrainment during the drop process can be measured. Fluidity, drop angle, the difference between the drop angle and the collapse angle, and dispersion can each be converted into individual indices having a maximum value of 25. For example, floodability can be defined as the sum of the individual indices.
[0034] In addition, the average particle size of the ground pulp can be measured by using laser diffraction, for example, a particle size analyzer from MALVEN (model name: Mastersizer 3000).
[0035] The cumulative distribution may be a value calculated by accumulating from finely ground pulp to finely ground pulp. The particle size of the ground pulp can be measured using laser diffraction, for example, a particle size analyzer from MALVEN (model name: Mastersizer 3000, operates as a dry analysis).
[0036] In one embodiment, the ground pulp may undergo a pretreatment step in an oven, and the pretreatment step may preferably be performed by drying at 100°C for about 6 hours. The pretreatment step may be performed to prevent aggregation of the ground pulp due to residual moisture.
[0037] Particle size analyzers are based on the principle of laser diffraction. Specifically, particle size analyzers irradiate a sample, for example, ground pulp, with a laser beam, collect light scattered from particles through a detector, and calculate the particle size distribution by interpreting the resulting scattering pattern. By utilizing the principle that the scattering angle and intensity change according to the particle size of the sample, the particle size distribution can be quantified.
[0038] The average particle size can be expressed as the volume-weighted average diameter, D[4, 3]. Since D[4, 3] is calculated by assigning weights proportional to the particle volume, it is suitable for representing the entire ground pulp. In addition, since it has a high correlation with the physical behavior and qualitative characteristics in the manufacturing process, D[4, 3] can be used as a representative indicator of the average particle size.
[0039] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the flow rate non-uniformity of the pulp may be a value calculated according to the following Equation 1.
[0040] [Equation 1]
[0041] Flow Non-uniformity = (Maximum Flow - Minimum Flow) / Average Flow * 100

[0081] In the method for manufacturing a lyocell material according to each exemplary embodiment, the weight of the pulp may be 5 to 15 parts by weight with respect to a total of 100 parts by weight of lyocell dope.

[0084]
[0085] A lyocell material according to an exemplary embodiment is obtained by spinning a lyocell dope with controlled properties. Specifically, the lyocell dope comprises pulp with an angle of repose controlled to 65° or less. By controlling the angle of repose to 65° or less, the flowability of the pulp is improved, thereby improving the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope containing the pulp.
[0086] As a result of improving the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope, the spinnability of the lyocell dope can be improved, and the uniformity of the lyocell monofilament and lyocell multifilament obtained by spinning from the lyocell dope can be improved. Furthermore, by improving the uniformity of the lyocell multifilament, the uniformity and processability of the lyocell material containing the lyocell multifilament can be improved.
[0087] On the other hand, if the angle of repose of the pulp exceeds 65°, the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope containing the pulp may decrease. For example, the flowability of the pulp dissolved in the lyocell dope as described above decreases, and the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope decreases, so that the uniformity of the dope extrusion pressure required for spinning may exceed 16%.
[0088] In addition, the above lyocell dope may include pulp with a dispersion controlled to 50% or less. Since the greater the dispersion of the pulp, the greater the non-acidity of the pulp, controlling the dispersion to 50% or less can improve the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope produced. Furthermore, the flowability of the lyocell dope can be improved.
[0089] On the other hand, if the dispersion degree exceeds 50%, the uniformity of the lyocell dope containing the pulp may be reduced. More specifically, the uniformity of concentration, viscosity, and flowability of the lyocell dope may be reduced. As a result, the stability of the spinning process is reduced, and the non-uniformity of the extrusion pressure of the dope may exceed 16%.
[0090] In addition, the floodability of the pulp included in the above lyocell dope can be controlled to 80 or less. By controlling the floodability, the fluidity of the lyocell dope can be maintained uniformly. As a result, the processability of the process for manufacturing lyocell material using the lyocell dope can be improved.
[0091] More specifically, by using the lyocell dope described above, the uniformity of spinning can be improved. As a result, the physical properties of the lyocell monofilament and lyocell multifilament obtained by spinning the lyocell dope can be improved. For example, the uniformity of the fineness of the lyocell monofilament can be improved. Furthermore, the uniformity of the tensile strength of the lyocell material containing the lyocell multifilament can be improved.
[0092] On the other hand, if the floodability exceeds 80, the processability of the lyocell dope may be further reduced. For example, the uniformity of fluidity of the lyocell dope described above may be reduced, and the non-uniformity of the pressure required for spinning may exceed 16%.
[0093]
[0094] [Irregular cross-section]
[0095] One or more of the lyocell monofilaments included in the lyocell material of the present application may have an irregular cross-section. "Irregular" means that the shape of the outline of the cross-section is not circular, and the "cross-section" may be a cross-section obtained by virtually or actually cutting the lyocell monofilament perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the filament.
[0096] The outline of the irregular cross-section may be tangent to a virtual first circle and a virtual second circle, respectively. Additionally, the virtual second circle may be depicted inside the virtual first circle.
[0097] A hypothetical first circle may be the circle with the smallest area value among the circles drawn to encompass the entire cross-section of the monofilament. A hypothetical second circle may be the circle with the largest area value among the circles drawn inside the cross-section of the monofilament.
[0098] If a circumscribed circle including the cross-section of the monofilament can be drawn, the virtual first circle may be said circumscribed circle. If an inscribed circle can be drawn inside the cross-section of the monofilament, the virtual second circle may be said inscribed circle.
[0099] The irregular cross-section may be a shape including multiple protrusions, for example, a Y-shaped cross-section including three protrusions. The multiple protrusions can be understood as being formed integrally with the virtual second circle as the center, with their ends in contact with the virtual first circle.
[0100] The degree of irregularity of a monofilament can be defined by the following mathematical formula 1.
[0101] <Mathematical Formula 1>
[0102] Hexage = r1 / r2
[0103] Here, r1 is the radius of the first imaginary circle and r2 is the radius of the second imaginary circle.
[0104] For example, the radius of the virtual first circle may be 4 to 40 μm, the radius of the virtual second circle may be 2 to 14 μm, and the deviation may be 1.01 to 10.
[0105] In addition, the space occupancy of the monofilament can be defined by Equation 2.
[0106] <Mathematical Formula 2>
[0107] Space Occupancy Rate = (S1 / S2) × 100(%)
[0108] Here, S1 is the area of a virtual first circle, and S2 is the cross-sectional area of a monofilament contained in a lyocell fiber.
[0109] For example, the space occupancy of a monofilament having a different cross-section can be 120 to 600%.
[0110]
[0111] [Seomdo]
[0112] The lyocell material of the present application comprises lyocell multifilaments, and the lyocell multifilaments may have a fineness suitable for manufacturing a filter for smoking articles and securing the function thereof.
[0113] In one example, the single fineness of the filaments forming the lyocell multifilament may be 1.67 dtex to 8.89 dtex (1.5 to 8.0 denier). In this case, the single fineness of the filament refers to the fineness of a single monofilament separated from the multifilament.
[0114] Specifically, the single fiber of the filament may be, for example, 8.33 dtex (7.5 denier) or less, 7.78 dtex (7.0 denier) or less, 7.22 dtex (6.5 denier) or less, 6.67 dtex (6.0 denier) or less, 6.11 dtex (5.5 denier) or less, 5.56 dtex (5.0 denier) or less, 5.00 dtex (4.5 denier) or less, 3.89 dtex (3.5 denier) or less, 3.33 dtex (3.0 denier) or less, 2.78 dtex (2.5 denier) or less, or 2.22 dtex (2.0 denier). And, the lower limit may be, for example, 2.22 dtex (2.0 denier) or higher, 2.78 dtex (2.5 denier) or higher, 3.33 dtex (3.0 denier) or higher, 3.89 dtex (3.5 denier) or higher, 4.44 dtex (4.0 denier) or higher, 5.00 dtex (4.5 denier) or higher, 5.56 dtex (5.0 denier) or higher, 6.11 dtex (5.5 denier) or higher, 6.67 dtex (6.0 denier) or higher, 7.22 dtex (6.5 denier) or higher, or 7.78 dtex (7.0 denier) or higher. Satisfying the above range may be more advantageous for ensuring stable physical properties (e.g., hardness or inhalation resistance) and processability of the filter for smoking articles.
[0115] In one example, the total fineness of the lyocell material may be 1,667 to 6,111 tex (15,000 to 55,000 denier), and the total fineness of the lyocell material may be calculated as the sum of the finenesses of the lyocell monofilaments. For example, the lower limit of the total fineness mentioned above is, for example, 1,778 tex (16,000 denier) or more, 1,833 tex (16,500 denier) or more, 1,889 tex (17,000 denier) or more, 1,944 tex (17,500 denier) or more, 2,000 tex (18,000 denier) or more, 2,056 tex (18,500 denier) or more, 2,111 tex (19,000 denier) or more, 2,167 tex (19,500 denier) or more, 2,222 tex (20,000 denier) or more, 2,278 tex (20,500 denier) or more, 2,333 tex (21,000 denier) or more, 2,389 tex(21,500 denier) or larger, 2,444 tex(22,000 denier) or larger, 2,500 tex(22,500 denier) or larger, 2,556 tex(23,000 denier) or larger, 2,611 tex(23,500 denier) or larger, 2,667 tex(24,000 denier) or larger, 2,722 tex(24,500 denier) or larger, 2,778 tex(25,000 denier) or larger, 2,833 tex(25,500 denier) or larger, 2,889 tex(26,000 denier) or larger, 2,944 tex(26,500 denier) or larger, 3,000 tex(27,000 denier) or larger, 3,056 tex(27,500 denier) or higher, 3,111 tex(28,000 denier) or higher, 3,167 tex(28,500 denier) or higher, 3,222 tex(29,000 denier) or higher, 3,287 tex(29,500 denier) or higher, 3,333 tex(30,000 denier) or higher, 3,389 tex(30,500 denier) or higher, 3,444 tex(31,000 denier) or higher, 3,500 tex(31,500 denier) or higher, 3,556 tex(32,000 denier) or larger, 3,611 tex(32,500 denier) or larger, 3,667 tex(33,000 denier) or larger, 3,722 tex(33,500 denier) or larger, 3,778 tex(34,000 denier) or larger, 3,833 tex(34,500 denier) or larger, 3,889 tex(35,000 denier) or larger, 3,944 tex(35,500 denier) or larger, 4,000 tex(36,000 denier) or larger, 4,056 tex(36,500 denier) or larger, 4,111 tex(37,000 denier) or larger, 4,167 tex(37,500 denier) or larger, 4,222 tex(38,000 denier) or higher 4,278 tex(38,500 denier) or higher, 4,333 tex(39,000 denier) or higher, 4,389 tex(39,500 denier) or higher, 4,444 tex(40,000 denier) or higher 4,500 tex(40,500 denier) or higher, 4,556 tex(41,000 denier) or higher, 4,611 tex(41,500 denier) or higher, 4,667 tex(42,000 denier) or higher, 4,722 tex(42,500 denier) or higher, 4,778 tex(43,000 denier) or higher, 4,833 tex(43,500 denier) or higher, 4,889 tex(44,000 denier) or larger, 4,944 tex(44,500 denier) or larger, 5,000 tex(45,000 denier) or larger, 5,056 tex(45,500 denier) or larger, 5,111 tex(46,000 denier) or larger, 5,167 tex(46,500 denier) or larger, 5,222 tex(47,000 denier) or larger, 5,278 tex(47,500 denier) or larger, 5,333 tex(48,000 denier) or larger, 5,389 tex(48,500 denier) or larger, 5,444 tex(49,000 denier) or larger, 5,500 tex(49,500 denier) or larger, 5,556 tex(50,000 denier) or more 5,611 tex(50,500 denier) or more, 5,667 tex(51,It may be 000 denier or higher, 5,722 tex (51,500 denier) or higher, 5,778 tex (52,000 denier) or higher, 5,833 tex (52,500 denier) or higher, 5,889 tex (53,000 denier) or higher, 5,944 tex (53,500 denier) or higher, 6,000 tex (54,000 denier) or higher, or 6,056 tex (54,500 denier) or higher. If the total fineness falls outside the above range, the processability for manufacturing filters for smoking products may be poor (continuous process impossible due to cutting), and when manufacturing filters for smoking products, it may be difficult to secure sufficient filter properties (e.g., hardness or suction resistance) as the amount of tow filled into the filter paper becomes too small or too large.
[0116] Although there are no specific limitations on the method for measuring fineness, for example, a 2 m sample of the lyocell material to be measured, e.g., lyocell tow, is taken and stabilized by placing it in a room maintained at a constant temperature of 20°C and humidity of 65% for 24 hours. One end of the stabilized lyocell tow is fixed, and a weight of 2 kg is attached to the opposite end. After maintaining the tow in a stretched state due to the load for 5 seconds (stabilization), it is cut to 90 cm to obtain the sample, and the weight of the sample is measured (total fineness). Fineness is converted according to the denier conversion method as measured weight × 10,000. By dividing the total fineness of the sample by the number of monofilaments in the sample, the single fineness of the monofilaments in the sample is calculated. The total fineness of the lyocell multifilament as described above can be determined by the single fineness of the filaments and the number of crimps. In the present application, the single fineness and the number of crimps can be controlled, and the total fineness of the tow suitable for manufacturing a filter for smoking articles and securing the function thereof can be secured.
[0117]
[0118] [Number of crimps]
[0119] In one example, the lyocell multifilament can have 3.94 to 19.71 crimps per centimeter (10 to 50 crimps per inch). For example, the number of the above crimps may be 5.91 ea / cm (15 ea / inch) or more, 7.87 ea / cm (20 ea / inch) or more, 9.84 ea / cm (25 ea / inch) or more, 11.81 ea / cm (30 ea / inch) or more, 13.78 ea / cm (35 ea / inch) or more, 15.75 ea / cm (40 ea / inch) or more, or 17.72 ea / cm (45 ea / inch) or more, and the upper limit may be, for example, 17.72 ea / cm (45 ea / inch) or less, 15.75 ea / cm (40 ea / inch) or less, 13.78 ea / cm (35 ea / inch) or less, 11.81 ea / cm (30 ea / inch) or less, or 9.84 It may be ea / cm (25 ea / inch) or less. The number of crimps and their uniformity can be controlled through pressure and temperature conditions, etc., regarding the crimping step described below.
[0120] Although not specifically limited, the number of crimps can be measured using, for example, a staple fiber property evaluation device (e.g., Favimat). Specifically, a sample of the manufactured lyocell material (preferably, lyocell tow) can be left and stabilized for 24 hours under conditions of a temperature of 20±2℃ and a humidity of 65±4%. A sample can be taken from the stabilized sample so as not to damage the crimps. The collected sample can be mounted on a dedicated jig with a length (Gauge Length) of 10 to 30 mm. The initial load at measurement may be 0.45 g / tex (0.05 g / denier), and the crimp sensitivity may be 0.01 mm. The number of crimps can be measured under the conditions described above (i.e., a temperature of 20±2℃ and a humidity of 65±4%).
[0121] Lyocell materials manufactured to satisfy the single filament, total filament, and / or crimp number as described above, although not specifically limited thereto, may be used in smoking articles.
[0122]
[0123] [bookbinder]
[0124] In one non-limiting example, the lyocell material may further comprise a binder. The binder may be present, for example, on the surface of the lyocell multifilament or between the lyocell multifilaments (or monofilaments). The binder can increase the hardness of the filter for smoking articles, thereby preventing problems such as the filter getting stuck during the filter manufacturing process or the manufacturing process of smoking articles (e.g., cigarettes).
[0125] The types of binders available for use are not particularly limited, and known binders may be used to the extent that they do not impede the purpose of the present invention. For example, a binder that provides sufficient compatibility with the emulsion used in the present application, can improve the hardness of the filter, and can provide excellent bonding strength may be used.
[0126] In one non-limiting example, the binder may include a polyester binder, a cellulose binder, and / or a vinyl binder.
[0127] Although not specifically limited, the polyester binder may be a polyester binder comprising one or more selected from the group consisting of alkylene, arylene, and heteroarylene having 5 to 12 carbon atoms.
[0128] Cellulose-based binders may include, for example, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), ethylcellulose (EC) and / or methylcellulose (MC), carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), etc., but are not limited to these.
[0129] Vinyl binders may be used, for example, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and / or ethylene vinyl acetate (EVAc), but are not limited to these.
[0130] The method of applying (coating) the above binder to the lyocell material will be described later.
[0131]
[0132] [emulsion]
[0133] The above lyocell material may comprise a lyocell multifilament; and an emulsion coated on the lyocell multifilament. The emulsion comprises (a) an ester of an aliphatic monohydric alcohol with a carbon number of 16 or more and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms; and (b) an ester of sorbitan with a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms. Such an emulsion may apply to part or all of the monofilaments or multifilaments constituting the lyocell material. Additionally, the emulsion may penetrate between the filaments.
[0134] At least the emulsion containing the above components (a) and (b) may be hydrophobic. As a result, the lyocell material treated with the emulsion has excellent spreading characteristics.
[0135] In a specific embodiment of the present application, the lyocell material may contain the emulsion in a predetermined amount. In this case, the amount of the emulsion may refer to the OPU (wt%) described below. "OPU" may refer to the "oil pick up ratio." For example, the lyocell material may contain the emulsion in an amount of 0.1 wt% or more based on 100 wt% of the total lyocell material. Specifically, the content of the emulsion may be 0.5 wt% or more, 1.0 wt% or more, 1.5 wt% or more, 2.0 wt% or more, 2.5 wt% or more, 3.0 wt% or more, specifically 3.5 wt% or more, 4.0 wt% or more, 4.2 wt% or more, 4.5 wt% or more, 5.0 wt% or more, 5.5 wt% or more, 6.0 wt% or more, 6.5 wt% or more, 7.0 wt% or more, 7.5 wt% or more, 8.0 wt% or more, 8.5 wt% or more, 9.0 wt% or more, or 9.5 wt% or more. And, the upper limit may be, for example, 20.0 wt% or less, 18.0 wt% or less, 17.0 wt% or less, 16.0 wt% or less, 15.0 wt% or less, 14.5 wt% or less, 14.0 wt% or less, 13.5 wt% or less, 13.0 wt% or less, 12.5 wt% or less, 12.0 wt% or less, 11.5 wt% or less, 11.0 wt% or less, 10.5 wt% or less, 10 wt% or less, 9.5 wt% or less, 9.0 wt% or less, 8.5 wt% or less, 8.0 wt% or less, 7.8 wt% or less, or 7.6 wt% or less.
[0136] For example, an extrusion method may be used to measure the content (OPU) of the above emulsion. For example, a sample (e.g., 2 to 5 g, specifically about 2.5 g) is taken (at this time, the weight of the taken sample is referred to as the sample weight), and the sample is placed into a syringe-shaped container. The material of the container is not particularly limited, but it may be made of SUS (Stainless). Subsequently, a solvent (e.g., methanol) is added to the container containing the sample (the amount of solvent added may be 10 ml or less (e.g., about 8 ml)). A drop method may be used when adding the solvent to the sample, and the drop speed is controlled uniformly. Then, the solvent added to the container as described above is allowed to fall onto a plate from one end of the syringe-shaped container. At this time, the plate is pre-weighed (the weighed weight is referred to as Plate Weight A), and the plate is installed so that the solvent dropped onto the plate can fly away (i.e., evaporate) at a temperature of 120 to 130 °C (e.g., 125 °C). The aforementioned injection and dropping of the solvent are performed three times, and a syringe-shaped container is used to apply pressure (e.g., 98 N / cm²) to the sample. 2 (10 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 49 N / cm 2 (5 kgf / cm 2 ) or less or 20-39 N / cm 2 (2-4 kgf / cm 2 Press the sample once by applying pressure. This sufficiently extrudes the solvent and emulsion present in the sample. Squeeze the sample by applying pressure until no more solvent comes out. Afterward, place the plate in a desiccator for 5 to 10 minutes and measure the weight of the plate containing the sample (plate weight B). Then, calculate the emulsion content according to the following formula.
[0137] <Food>
[0138] Emulsion content by extrusion (OPU, % or wt%)
[0139] = {(Plate weight B - Plate weight A) / (Sample weight)} x 100
[0140] In addition, the lyocell material serving as the standard for the above-mentioned emulsion content may be at least an emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament. For example, the lyocell material may be a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment (described below) has been applied, a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment and a secondary emulsion treatment (described below) have been applied, or a lyocell multifilament to which the binder described below has also been applied along with the emulsion treatment as described above. Furthermore, the lyocell multifilament to which the emulsion and / or binder treatment has been applied may be a crimped lyocell.
[0141] In relation to the emulsion of the present application, the above component (a) is a compound capable of functioning as a type of lubricant or oil, and is harmless to the human body to the extent that it can be used in food. The component (a) provides lubricity to the fibers fed into the crimper. If the lubricity is insufficient, the lyocell clumps together and cannot exit the crimper, and if the lubricity is too high, there is a problem that the crimp does not form well. The content of the component (a) can be controlled as described below, taking these functions into consideration.
[0142] With respect to the above (a) component, the type of fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms forming it is not particularly limited. Fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms that can provide an esterified product harmless to the human body for use in food may be used.
[0143] For example, saturated fatty acids and / or unsaturated fatty acids may be used as fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0144] According to some embodiments, the fatty acid is selected from the group consisting of palmitic acid, margaric acid, stearic acid, nonadecylic acid, arachidic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and arachidonic acid.
[0145] Saturated fatty acids include, for example, palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 14 COOH), margaric acid (heptadecanic acid, CH3(CH2) 15 COOH), stearic acid (octadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 16 COOH), nonadecylic acid (nonadecanic acid, CH3(CH2) 17 COOH) or arachidic acid (eicosanic acid, CH3(CH2) 18 Examples include COOH. However, the types of usable saturated fatty acids are not limited to these.
[0146] Examples of unsaturated fatty acids include palmitoleic acid (CH3(CH2)5CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), oleic acid (CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), and linoleic acid (C 18 H 32 O2) or arachidonic acid (C 20 H 32 Examples include O2, etc. However, the types of available saturated fatty acids are not limited to these.
[0147] The upper limit of the carbon number of fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms is not specifically limited, but, for example, it may be 40 or less, 36 or less, 32 or less, 28 or less, 24 or less, or 20 or less.
[0148] With respect to the above (a) component, the type of aliphatic monohydric alcohol forming it is also not particularly limited. An aliphatic monohydric alcohol that can provide an esterified product harmless to the human body enough to be used in food may be used.
[0149] For example, they may be saturated aliphatic alcohols or unsaturated aliphatic alcohols, and they may have a linear or branched form.
[0150] In one example, the number of carbon atoms of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol may be 1 to 40. Specifically, the number of carbon atoms of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol may be, for example, 4 or more, 8 or more, 12 or more, 16 or more, or 20 or more.
[0151] Examples of aliphatic monohydric alcohols as described above include, but are not limited to, methanol, ethanol, butanol, lauryl alcohol, isotridecanol, or stearyl alcohol. According to some embodiments, the aliphatic monohydric alcohol is selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol, butanol, lauryl alcohol, isotridecanol, and stearyl alcohol.
[0152] In a specific embodiment of the present application, the component (a) may be an esterified product of isotridecanol and stearic acid (e.g., isotridecyl stearate). However, the types of usable component (a) are not limited thereto.
[0153] As described below, the content of the above-mentioned component (a) included in the emulsion can be adjusted by taking into account the function of the emulsion or the function of component (a).
[0154] The above component (b), namely the ester of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms, is a compound that can function as a type of emulsifier and is harmless to the human body enough to be used in food.
[0155] Since this component (b) possesses both hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity due to polyalcohols (i.e., sorbitan), it enables component (a), which provides lubricity to fibers, to be well dispersed in water as described below. In addition, components (a) and (b) used together not only increase the dispersibility of the lubricant as described above but also lower the melting point, thereby ensuring the usability and stability of the lubricant. The content of component (b) can be controlled as described below, taking these functions into consideration.
[0156] With respect to the above (b) component, the type of fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms forming it is not particularly limited. Fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms that can provide an esterified product harmless to the human body for use in food may be used.
[0157] For example, saturated fatty acids and / or unsaturated fatty acids may be used as fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0158] Saturated fatty acids include, for example, palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 14 COOH), margaric acid (heptadecanic acid, CH3(CH2) 15 COOH), stearic acid (octadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 16 COOH), nonadecylic acid (nonadecanic acid, CH3(CH2) 17 COOH) or arachidic acid (eicosanic acid, CH3(CH2) 18 Examples include COOH, etc. However, the types of saturated fatty acids available are not limited to these. According to some embodiments, the fatty acid is selected from the group consisting of palmitic acid, margaric acid, stearic acid, nonadecylic acid, arachidic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and arachidonic acid.
[0159] Examples of unsaturated fatty acids include palmitoleic acid (CH3(CH2)5CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), oleic acid (CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), and linoleic acid (C 18 H 32 O2) or arachidonic acid (C 20 H 32 Examples include O2, etc. However, the types of available saturated fatty acids are not limited to these.
[0160] The upper limit of the carbon number of fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms is not specifically limited, but, for example, it may be 40 or less, 36 or less, 32 or less, 28 or less, 24 or less, or 20 or less.
[0161] In a specific embodiment of the present application, the component (b) may be an esterified product of sorbitan and oleic acid (e.g., sorbitan monooleate). However, the types of usable component (b) are not limited thereto.
[0162] (b) The content of the component can be adjusted by taking into account the function of the component (b) and the function of the emulsion as described above.
[0163] In one example, the emulsion may comprise 20 to 60 parts by weight of (b) sorbitan and an ester of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms, relative to 100 parts by weight of (a) an ester of an aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0164] Specifically, the emulsion of the present application may contain the component (b) in an amount of 25 parts by weight or more, 30 parts by weight or more, 35 parts by weight or more, 40 parts by weight or more, 45 parts by weight or more, or 50 parts by weight or more, relative to 100 parts by weight of the component (a). In addition, the upper limit of the content of the component (b) relative to 100 parts by weight of the component (a) may be, for example, 55 parts by weight or less, 50 parts by weight or less, 45 parts by weight or less, 40 parts by weight or less, 35 parts by weight or less, 30 parts by weight or less, or 25 parts by weight or less. When the above content range is satisfied, the surface of the emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament or lyocell tow may have hydrophobicity.
[0165] In one example, the emulsion may comprise (a) 40 to 80 weight percent of an ester of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, based on 100 weight percent of the total weight of the emulsion. Specifically, based on 100 weight percent of the total weight of the emulsion, the content of component (a) may be 45 weight percent or more, 50 weight percent or more, 55 weight percent or more, 60 weight percent or more, 65 weight percent or more, 70 weight percent or more, or 75 weight percent or more. And, the upper limit of the content may be, for example, 75 weight percent or less, 70 weight percent or less, 65 weight percent or less, 60 weight percent or less, 55 weight percent or less, 50 weight percent or less, or 45 weight percent or less.
[0166] In one example, the above emulsion may contain an excess amount of component (a).
[0167] In one example, the emulsion may comprise 15 to 55 weight percent of (b) an ester of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms, based on 100 weight percent of the total weight of the emulsion. Specifically, based on 100 weight percent of the total weight of the emulsion, the content of component (b) may be 20 weight percent or more, 25 weight percent or more, 30 weight percent or more, 35 weight percent or more, 40 weight percent or more, 45 weight percent or more, or 50 weight percent or more. And the upper limit of the content may be, for example, 50 weight percent or less, 45 weight percent or less, 40 weight percent or less, 35 weight percent or less, 30 weight percent or less, or 25 weight percent or less.
[0168] In one example, the emulsion may further contain water. A small amount of water can aid in emulsification.
[0169] The water content is not specifically limited, but may be included in an amount equal to the remainder excluding the total content of component (a) and component (b) from 100% by weight of the entire emulsion. The amount of water included in the emulsion (i.e., the remainder excluding the total content of the remaining components excluding water) may be, for example, 10% by weight or less, 9% by weight or less, 8% by weight or less, 7% by weight or less, 6% by weight or less, 5% by weight or less, 4% by weight or less, 3% by weight or less, 2% by weight or less, or 1% by weight or less. And, the lower limit may be, for example, 0% by weight or more, 0.1% by weight or more, 0.5% by weight or more, or 1% by weight or more.

[0171] [Method for manufacturing lyocell material]
[0172] The present application relates to a method for manufacturing a lyocell material. Through said method, a lyocell material can be manufactured and used in smoking articles.
[0173] Specifically, the method for manufacturing the lyocell material comprises a lyocell dope preparation step; a lyocell dope spinning step; a coagulation and multifilament obtaining step; a washing step; an emulsion treatment step; and a crimp imparting step. Additionally, the method for manufacturing the lyocell material may further include a binder treatment step; and other steps.
[0174] The emulsion treatment step may be performed before the crimping step, after the crimping step, or both before and after the crimping step.
[0175] The emulsion treatment can be performed independently, for example, by spraying an emulsion of the composition described above onto the lyocell multifilament or by immersing the lyocell multifilament in said emulsion. The emulsion treatment can be performed such that the content of the emulsion (e.g., OPU (wt%)) in the lyocell material satisfies a predetermined range.
[0176] The above crimping step may be performed, for example, by applying steam and / or pressure to the lyocell multifilament.
[0177] A method for manufacturing a lyocell material according to an embodiment of the present application, comprising an emulsion treatment step and a crimp imparting step, is described in more detail below. The method of the present application may be performed by including one or more of the steps described below.
[0178]
[0179] [Lyocell Dope]
[0180] According to one example, a lyocell dope comprising NMMO (N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide) and pulp dissolved in NMMO is provided, wherein the angle of repose of the pulp is 65° or less.
[0181] By controlling the angle of repose to 65° or less, the flowability of the pulp is improved, thereby improving the concentration and viscosity uniformity of the lyocell dope containing the pulp. As a result of the improved concentration and viscosity uniformity of the lyocell dope, the spinnability of the lyocell dope can be improved, and the uniformity of the lyocell monofilament and lyocell multifilament obtained by spinning from the lyocell dope can be improved. Furthermore, as the uniformity of the lyocell multifilament is improved, the processability of the lyocell multifilament is improved, and the uniformity and processability of the lyocell material containing the lyocell multifilament can be improved.
[0182] On the other hand, if the angle of repose of the pulp exceeds 65°, the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope containing the pulp may decrease. For example, the flowability of the pulp dissolved in the lyocell dope as described above decreases, and the uniformity of the concentration and viscosity of the lyocell dope decreases, so that the uniformity of the dope extrusion pressure required for spinning may exceed 16%.
[0183] More specifically, the angle of repose of the pulp may be 64° or less, 63° or less, 62° or less, 61° or less, 60° or less, 59° or less, 58° or less, 57° or less, 56° or less, 55° or less, 54° or less, 53° or less, 52° or less, 51° or less, 50° or less, 49° or less, 48° or less, 47° or less, 46° or less, 45° or less, 44° or less, 43° or less, 42° or less, 41° or less, 40° or less, 39° or less, 38° or less, 37° or less, 36° or less, or 35° or less.
[0184] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the angle of repose of the pulp may be 30° or more. More specifically, the angle of repose of the pulp may be 31° or more, 32° or more, 33° or more, 34° or more, 35° or more, 36° or more, 37° or more, 38° or more, 39° or more, 40° or more, 41° or more, 42° or more, 43° or more, 44° or more, 45° or more, 46° or more, 47° or more, 48° or more, 49° or more, 50° or more, 51° or more, 52° or more, 53° or more, 54° or more, 55° or more, 56° or more, 57° or more, 58° or more, 59° or more, and 60° or more.
[0185] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the angle of repose may be a value measured before the pulp is dissolved in NMMO.
[0186] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the degree of dispersion of the pulp may be 50% or less.
[0187] In addition, the lyocell dope may include pulp with a dospersity controlled to 50% or less. By controlling the dospersity of the pulp to 50% or less, the non-acidity of the pulp may be reduced. As a result, the uniformity of the lyocell dope may be improved, and the flowability may be improved.
[0188] On the other hand, if the dispersion degree exceeds 50%, the processability of the lyocell dope containing the pulp may be reduced. For example, the lyocell dope described above may have reduced uniformity of fluidity, and the non-uniformity of the pressure required for spinning may exceed 16%.
[0189] More specifically, the dispersion of the pulp may be 49% or less, 48% or less, 47% or less, 46% or less, 45% or less, 44% or less, 43% or less, 42% or less, 41% or less, 40% or less, 39% or less, 38% or less, 37% or less, 36% or less, 35% or less, 34% or less, 33% or less, 32% or less, 31% or less, 30% or less, 29% or less, 28% or less, 27% or less, 26% or less, 25% or less, 24% or less, 23% or less, 22% or less, 21% or less, 20% or less, 19% or less, 18% or less, 17% or less, 16% or less, 15% or less, 14% or less, 13% or less, 12% or less, or 11% or less. there is.
[0190] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the dispersion of the pulp may be 10% or more. More specifically, the dispersion of the pulp may be 11% or more, 12% or more, 13% or more, 14% or more, 15% or more, 16% or more, 17% or more, 18% or more, 19% or more, 20% or more, 21% or more, 22% or more, 23% or more, 24% or more, 25% or more, 26% or more, 27% or more, 28% or more, 29% or more, 30% or more, 31% or more, 32% or more, 33% or more, 34% or more, 35% or more, 36% or more, 37% or more, 38% or more, 39% or more, or 40% or more.
[0191] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the degree of dispersion may be a value measured before the pulp is dissolved in NMMO.
[0192] The floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may be 80 or less.
[0193] By using a lyocell dope with a floodability of 80 or less, the uniformity of spinning can be improved.
[0194] On the other hand, if the floodability exceeds 80, the processability of the lyocell dope may be further reduced. For example, the uniformity of fluidity of the lyocell dope described above may be reduced, and the non-uniformity of the pressure required for spinning may exceed 16%.
[0195] More specifically, the floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope may be 79 or less, 78 or less, 77 or less, 76 or less, 75 or less, 74 or less, 73 or less, 72 or less, 71 or less, 70 or less, 69 or less, 68 or less, 67 or less, 66 or less, 65 or less, 64 or less, 63 or less, 62 or less, 61 or less, 60 or less, 59 or less, 58 or less, 57 or less, 56 or less, 55 or less, 54 or less, 53 or less, 52 or less, or 51 or less.
[0196] The floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may be 40 or higher. More specifically, the floodability may be 41 or higher, 42 or higher, 43 or higher, 44 or higher, 45 or higher, 46 or higher, 47 or higher, 48 or higher, 49 or higher, 51 or higher, 52 or higher, 53 or higher, 54 or higher, 55 or higher, 56 or higher, 57 or higher, 58 or higher, 59 or higher, 60 or higher, 61 or higher, 62 or higher, 63 or higher, 64 or higher, 65 or higher, 66 or higher, 67 or higher, 68 or higher, 69 or higher, 70 or higher, 71 or higher, 72 or higher, 73 or higher, 74 or higher, 75 or higher, 76 or higher, or 77 or higher.
[0197] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the average particle size of the pulp may be 500 μm or less. More specifically, the upper limit of the average particle size of the pulp may be 450 μm or less, 400 μm or less, 350 μm or less, 300 μm or less, or 250 μm or less.
[0198] In addition, although not specifically limited, the average particle size of the pulp may be 50 μm or more. More specifically, the upper limit of the average particle size of the pulp may be 100 μm or more, 150 μm or more, 200 μm or more, 250 μm or more, 300 μm or more, or 350 μm or more.
[0199] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the flow rate non-uniformity of the pulp may be 15% or less. Additionally, the flow rate non-uniformity of the pulp may be a value calculated according to the following Equation 1.
[0200] [Equation 1]
[0201] Flow Non-uniformity = (Maximum Flow - Minimum Flow) / Average Flow * 100
[0202] By controlling the flow rate non-uniformity of the pulp to 15% or less, the solubility of the pulp can be maintained at a constant level, and the uniformity of the lyocell dope containing the pulp can be improved. In addition, by ensuring the uniformity of the lyocell dope, the uniformity of the lyocell multifilament obtained by releasing the lyocell dope can be improved.
[0203] Specifically, the flow rate non-uniformity of the pulp may be 15% or less, 14.5% or less, 14% or less, 13.5% or less, 13% or less, 12.5% or less, 12% or less, 11.5% or less, 11% or less, 10.5% or less, 10% or less, 9.5% or less, or 9% or less.
[0204] In one example, the pulp content in the lyocell dope may be 5 to 15 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total lyocell dope.
[0205] If the pulp content is excessively low, it is difficult to realize the characteristics of lyocell fibers, and if the content exceeds the above range, it is difficult to dissolve in a solvent. Taking this into consideration, the pulp content in the lyocell dope may be 6 parts by weight or more, 7 parts by weight or more, 8 parts by weight or more, 9 parts by weight or more, or 10 parts by weight or more, and the upper limit may be, for example, 14 parts by weight or less, 13 parts by weight or less, 12 parts by weight or less, 11 parts by weight or less, 10 parts by weight or less, or 9 parts by weight or less.
[0206] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the weight of the pulp may be 5 to 15 parts by weight with respect to a total of 100 parts by weight of the lyocell dope.
[0207] The lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may further include water (H2O).
[0208] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the weight of the NMMO aqueous solution may be 85 to 95 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total lyocell dope.
[0209] In one example, the lyocell dope may include an aqueous NMMO solution. The aqueous NMMO solution may include, for example, 80 to 95 weight parts of NMMO and 5 to 20 weight parts of H2O, taking into account the degree of dissolution of cellulose and the process temperature.
[0210] In one example, the pulp may have an alpha-cellulose content of 85 to 97 weight percent relative to 100 weight percent of the total pulp.
[0211] In one example, the pulp may have a hemicellulose content of 1% to 15% by weight relative to 100% by weight of the total pulp. By controlling the hemicellulose content to the above range, stable physical properties and processability of the lyocell material can be more easily secured.
[0212] In addition, in a specific embodiment of the present application, the degree of polymerization (DPw) of the cellulose may be 600 to 1700.
[0213]
[0214] <(a) Lyocell dope preparation stage>
[0215] The corresponding step is to prepare a lyocell dope containing lyocell cellulose (or pulp) and NMMO (N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide).
[0216] Commercially available cellulose acetate filters are cited as a major cause of microplastic generation. However, lyocell materials do not generate any pollutants during their production process, such as the amine oxide-based solvent used in the manufacture of lyocell fibers, which is recyclable and biodegradable upon disposal. Furthermore, since lyocell materials (e.g., lyocell tow) are biodegradable and removed within a relatively short period of time, lyocell is a more environmentally friendly material than cellulose acetate.
[0217] In one example, the pulp content in the lyocell dope may be 5 to 15 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total lyocell dope. If the pulp content is excessively low, it is difficult to realize the characteristics of the lyocell fiber, and if the content exceeds the above range, it is difficult to dissolve in a solvent.
[0218] The lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may further include water (H2O).
[0219] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the weight of the NMMO aqueous solution may be 85 to 95 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total lyocell dope.
[0220] In one example, the lyocell dope may include an aqueous NMMO solution. The aqueous NMMO solution may include, for example, 80 to 95 weight parts of NMMO and 5 to 20 weight parts of H2O, taking into account the degree of dissolution of cellulose and the process temperature.
[0221] In addition, in one example, the pulp or cellulose may have an alpha cellulose content of 85 to 97 weight percent relative to 100 weight percent of the total pulp.
[0222] In one example, the pulp or cellulose may have a hemicellulose content of 1% to 15% by weight relative to 100% by weight of the total pulp. By controlling the hemicellulose content to the above range, stable physical properties (e.g., hardness or suction resistance) and processability of the lyocell material can be more easily secured.
[0223] In addition, the degree of polymerization (DPw) of the cellulose may be 600 to 1700.
[0224] In each exemplary method for manufacturing a lyocell material, the lyocell dope comprises NMMO (N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide) and pulp dissolved in NMMO, and the angle of repose of the pulp may be 65° or less, or the angle of repose of the pulp may be 30° or more. Additionally, the angle of repose may be a value measured before the pulp is dissolved in NMMO. The description regarding the angle of repose is as described above.
[0225] In each exemplary method for manufacturing a lyocell material, the degree of dispersion of the pulp may be 50% or less, and the degree of dispersion of the pulp may be 10% or more. Additionally, the degree of dispersion may be a value measured before the pulp is dissolved in NMMO. The explanation regarding the degree of dispersion is as described above.
[0226] In the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment, the pressure non-uniformity of the lyocell dope may be 16% or less. Additionally, the pressure non-uniformity of the lyocell dope may be a value calculated according to Equation 2.
[0227] [Equation 2]
[0228] Pressure Non-uniformity = (Maximum Pressure - Minimum Pressure) / Average Pressure * 100
[0229] By controlling the pressure non-uniformity of the lyocell dope to 16% or less, the uniformity of the lyocell multifilament obtained by releasing the lyocell dope can be improved. In addition, by ensuring the uniformity of the lyocell multifilament, the uniformity of the lyocell material containing the lyocell multifilament can be improved. For example, the lyocell material containing the lyocell multifilament can have a uniform fineness.
[0230] Specifically, the pressure non-uniformity of the lyocell dope may be 16% or less, 15.5% or less, 15% or less, 14.5% or less, 14% or less, 13.5% or less, 13% or less, 12.5% or less, 12% or less, 11.5% or less, 11% or less, 10.5% or less, 10% or less, 9.5% or less, or 9% or less, 8.5% or less, 8% or less, or 7.5% or less.
[0231]
[0232] <(b) Lyocell dope radiation step>
[0233] This step involves spinning the prepared lyocell dope. In the spinning step, the shape of the detonator for extruding the lyocell dope is not particularly limited. For example, a donut-shaped spinning detonator may be used.
[0234] The nozzle temperature of the spinning die, specifically the spinning temperature, can be appropriately selected by a person skilled in the art. Considering that the viscosity of the lyocell dope may vary depending on the spinning temperature and thus the extrusion may not be performed well, the spinning temperature may be, for example, at a temperature of 100°C to 120°C or 100°C to 110°C or lower.
[0235] By using a lyocell dope with a floodability of 80 or less, the uniformity of spinning can be improved.
[0236] On the other hand, if the floodability exceeds 80, the processability of the lyocell dope may be further reduced. For example, the fluidity of the lyocell dope described above may be reduced, clumping of the lyocell dope may be observed during the spinning process, and the non-uniformity of the pressure required for spinning may exceed 16%.
[0237] More specifically, the floodability of Laosel Dof may be 79 or less, 78 or less, 77 or less, 76 or less, 75 or less, 74 or less, 73 or less, 72 or less, 71 or less, 70 or less, 69 or less, 68 or less, 67 or less, 66 or less, 65 or less, 64 or less, 63 or less, 62 or less, 61 or less, 60 or less, 59 or less, 58 or less, 57 or less, 56 or less, 55 or less, 54 or less, 53 or less, 52 or less, or 51 or less.
[0238] The floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope according to each exemplary embodiment may be 40 or higher. More specifically, the floodability may be 51 or higher, 52 or higher, 53 or higher, 54 or higher, 55 or higher, 56 or higher, 57 or higher, 58 or higher, 59 or higher, 60 or higher, 61 or higher, 62 or higher, 63 or higher, 64 or higher, 65 or higher, 66 or higher, 67 or higher, 68 or higher, 69 or higher, 70 or higher, 71 or higher, 72 or higher, 73 or higher, 74 or higher, 75 or higher, 76 or higher, or 77 or higher.
[0239] In one example, the step of spinning the lyocell dope may be performed under controlled spinning conditions such that the filament fineness is 1.67 dtex to 8.89 dtex (1.5 to 8.0 denier) or less. For example, one or more spinning conditions among the extrusion amount and spinning speed of the lyocell dope may be appropriately controlled so that the filament fineness contained in the lyocell material satisfies 1.67 dtex to 8.89 dtex (1.5 to 8.0 denier). At this time, the filament fineness refers to the fineness of a single monofilament separated from a multifilament.
[0240] Specifically, the single fiber of the filament may be, for example, 8.33 dtex (7.5 denier) or less, 7.78 dtex (7.0 denier) or less, 7.22 dtex (6.5 denier) or less, 6.67 dtex (6.0 denier) or less, 6.11 dtex (5.5 denier) or less, 5.56 dtex (5.0 denier) or less, 5.00 dtex (4.5 denier) or less, 3.89 dtex (3.5 denier) or less, 3.33 dtex (3.0 denier) or less, 2.78 dtex (2.5 denier) or less, or 2.22 dtex (2.0 denier). Satisfying the above range may be more advantageous for achieving stable inhalation resistance and ensuring processability of the filter for smoking articles.
[0241]
[0242] In the lyocell material according to each exemplary embodiment, the fineness non-uniformity of the lyocell material may be 22% or less. Additionally, the fineness non-uniformity may be a value calculated according to Equation 3 below. To calculate the fineness non-uniformity, a plurality of samples may be prepared from the lyocell material. The fineness of the samples may be measured from the plurality of samples.
[0243] [Equation 3]
[0244] Fineness Non-uniformity = (Maximum Fineness - Minimum Fineness) / Average Fineness * 100
[0245] In Equation 3, the maximum fineness is the largest value among the finenesses of the samples, the minimum fineness is the smallest value among the finenesses of the samples, and the average fineness is the average value of the fineness measured from the samples.
[0246] To calculate the fineness non-uniformity, 20 or more samples may be prepared from the lyocell material. Preferably, 50 or more samples may be prepared.
[0247] In the lyocell material according to each exemplary embodiment, the fineness measured from the sample in Equation 3 can be calculated according to Equation 3-1 below.
[0248] [Equation 3-1]
[0249] Sample fineness = Sample weight (g) * 10000
[0250] For each exemplary lyocell material, the length of the sample may be about 90 cm.
[0251] For each exemplary lyocell material, the sample may be stabilized under constant temperature and constant humidity conditions before the fineness non-uniformity is calculated. For example, the constant temperature condition may be 20°C and the constant humidity condition may be 65%RH. Additionally, stabilization may be performed for approximately 24 hours.
[0252] For each exemplary lyocell material, a load may be applied to the sample before the fineness non-uniformity is calculated. By applying the load, the sample with the applied load may be further stabilized. For example, the load may be 2 kg.
[0253] By controlling the non-uniformity of fineness of the lyocell material to 22% or less, the uniformity of the filter containing the lyocell material can be improved. For example, the strength of the filter containing the lyocell material can be improved, and the filtration ability can be improved.
[0254] Specifically, the non-uniformity of fineness of the lyocell material may be 22% or less, 16% or less, 15.5% or less, 15% or less, 14.5% or less, 14% or less, 13.5% or less, 13% or less, 12.5% or less, 12% or less, 11.5% or less, 11% or less, or 10.5% or less.
[0255] Additionally, a lyocell material is provided that includes a crimped lyocell multifilament, wherein the lyocell multifilament is obtained by spinning a lyocell dope according to any one of the exemplary embodiments.
[0256] The lyocell dope extruded through the radiation detention can undergo the coagulation step described below.
[0257]
[0258] <(c) Step of obtaining solidification and multifilament>
[0259] In this step, the spun lyocell dope is solidified, and lyocell multifilaments can be obtained.
[0260] For the above coagulation, a method in which the lyocell dope comes into contact with air and / or a coagulation liquid may be used.
[0261] In one example, the coagulation may include a first coagulation step of supplying cooling air to the spun lyocell dope; and a second coagulation step of introducing the first coagulated lyocell dope into a coagulation liquid to coagulate it.
[0262] According to the above-described coagulation method, the lyocell dope discharged from the spinneret can be primarily coagulated in the space (air gap section) between the spinneret and the coagulation bath. In this air gap section, cooling air may be supplied from the inside to the outside of the spinneret, for example, from an air cooling unit located inside the spinneret. In addition, primary coagulation may be achieved by a so-called air quenching method or means known in the relevant field.
[0263] In one example, the upper temperature limit of the cooling air used for primary solidification may be, for example, 15°C or lower. Specifically, the cooling air may be air at a temperature of 14°C or lower, 13°C or lower, 12°C or lower, 11°C or lower, or 10°C or lower. If the temperature exceeds the above, the lyocell dope solidification by air is insufficient, and the processability related to spinning is poor.
[0264] The lower limit of the cooling air may be determined by considering the spinning processability and / or the cross-sectional uniformity of the filament. For example, if the temperature of the cooling air is less than 4°C, the surface of the die cools down, the surface of the filament becomes uneven, and the spinning processability also deteriorates. Considering this, the cooling air may be 5°C or higher, 6°C or higher, 7°C or higher, 8°C or higher, or 9°C or higher.
[0265] The degree to which the above cooling air is supplied can be controlled by considering factors such as sufficient solidification, spinnability, and the influence on the physical properties of the filament. For example, 70 to 400 Nm 3 It can be supplied to the lyocell dope derived with an airflow rate of / h. More specifically, the airflow rate is 100 Nm 3 / h or more, 150 Nm3 / h or more, 200 Nm 3 / h or more or 250 Nm 3 It can be more than / h, and the upper limit of the airflow is, for example, 350 Nm 3 / h or less, 300 Nm 3 / h or less, 250 Nm 3 / h or less, 200 Nm 3 / h or less or 150 Nm 3 It can be less than / h.
[0266] After the first solidification as described above, the cooled lyocell dope can be supplied to a solidification tank or bath containing a solidification liquid (secondary solidification). To ensure proper solidification, the temperature of the solidification liquid may be, for example, 30°C or lower or 25°C or lower. Additionally, the temperature of the solidification liquid may be 10°C or higher, 15°C or higher, or 20°C or higher. If the above temperature is maintained, the solidification rate can be properly maintained.
[0267] The type of coagulation solution for secondary coagulation as described above is not particularly limited. For example, the coagulation solution may contain one or more of water and NMMO.
[0268] Although not specifically limited, when the coagulation solution contains water and NMMO, the water content in the coagulation solution may be 60 to 90 weight% and the NMMO content may be 10 to 40 weight%. Alternatively, the coagulation solution may contain 70 to 80 weight% of water and 20 to 30 weight% of NMMO. The concentration of such coagulation solution can be controlled to be maintained during the manufacturing process using a sensor or the like.
[0269]
[0270] <(d) Washing stage>
[0271] If necessary, the lyocell multifilament may be washed after the aforementioned coagulation and multifilament steps. This washing may remove any remaining NMMO and / or other impurities within the filament.
[0272] The method of performing the washing is not particularly limited. For example, washing may be performed by introducing the solidified lyocell multifilament into the washing tank using a traction roller. Alternatively, washing may be performed by spraying the washing solution as it moves to the next stage by the traction roller.
[0273] The composition of the washing solution is not particularly limited. For example, the washing solution may contain water and may additionally contain known additives.
[0274] In addition, considering reuse after washing, the washing solution may be used at a temperature of 100°C or lower.
[0275]
[0276] <(e) Emulsion processing step>
[0277] If necessary, a step of applying an emulsion to the lyocell multifilament may be performed. This step involves applying an emulsion of the above-described components to the surface of the filament. Through the emulsion treatment, friction applied to the filament is reduced, and a crimp can be formed well in the crimp application step described later. If the emulsion treatment is performed two or more times as described later, it may be referred to as the first emulsion treatment and the second emulsion treatment depending on the order.
[0278] Although not specifically limited, emulsion treatment may be performed by immersing the lyocell multifilament in an emulsion-filled bath so that the lyocell multifilament is completely submerged in the emulsion. Alternatively, the emulsion may be treated by spraying the emulsion liquid as it moves to the next stage by a traction roller.
[0279] In order to ensure that the amount of emulsion applied to the lyocell multifilament after the emulsion treatment as described above is constant, an additional process may be performed in which a roll, etc. located before and / or after the emulsion treatment step squeezes out the emulsion from the surface of the lyocell multifilament.
[0280] In one example, the above-mentioned emulsion treatment may be performed such that the emulsion content (OPU: oil pick-up ratio (weight%)) satisfies at least 1.0 weight% based on 100 weight% of the emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament. At this time, the above-mentioned emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament may, for example, be a lyocell multifilament to which the lyocell material has undergone a primary emulsion treatment, a lyocell multifilament to which the primary emulsion treatment and a secondary emulsion treatment (see description below for details therein), or a lyocell multifilament to which the binder described below is also applied along with the above-mentioned emulsion treatment. Furthermore, the lyocell multifilament to which the emulsion and / or binder treatment is performed as above may be crimped.
[0281] Specifically, the content of the emulsion in the lyocell multifilament treated with at least the emulsion may be 0.5 wt% or more, 1.0 wt% or more, 1.5 wt% or more, 2.0 wt% or more, 2.5 wt% or more, 3.0 wt% or more, specifically 3.5 wt% or more, 4.0 wt% or more, 4.2 wt% or more, 4.5 wt% or more, 5.0 wt% or more, 5.5 wt% or more, 6.0 wt% or more, 6.5 wt% or more, 7.0 wt% or more, 7.5 wt% or more, 8.0 wt% or more, 8.5 wt% or more, 9.0 wt% or more, or 9.5 wt% or more. And, the upper limit may be, for example, 20.0 wt% or less, 18.0 wt% or less, 17.0 wt% or less, 16.0 wt% or less, 15.0 wt% or less, 14.5 wt% or less, 14.0 wt% or less, 13.5 wt% or less, 13.0 wt% or less, 12.5 wt% or less, 12.0 wt% or less, 11.5 wt% or less, 11.0 wt% or less, 10.5 wt% or less, 10 wt% or less, 9.5 wt% or less, 9.0 wt% or less, 8.5 wt% or less, 8.0 wt% or less, 7.8 wt%, or 7.6 wt% or less. In this case, the above content may refer to the dry weight after the solvent (e.g., water) or liquid component that may be included in the emulsion has evaporated.
[0282] When an emulsion of the composition described above is processed within the above content range, the hydrophilic properties of the lyocell material can be enhanced.
[0283] In some cases, drying of the emulsion may be performed after the emulsion treatment as described above.
[0284] In a specific embodiment relating to the present application, one or more of the steps described above may be controlled so that the single filament of the lyocell multifilament has a single filament fineness of 1.67 dtex to 8.89 dtex (1.5 to 8.0 denier). The single filament fineness refers to the fineness of a single monofilament separated from the multifilament.
[0285] Specifically, the single fiber of the filament may be, for example, 8.33 dtex (7.5 denier) or less, 7.78 dtex (7.0 denier) or less, 7.22 dtex (6.5 denier) or less, 6.67 dtex (6.0 denier) or less, 6.11 dtex (5.5 denier) or less, 5.56 dtex (5.0 denier) or less, 5.00 dtex (4.5 denier) or less, 3.89 dtex (3.5 denier) or less, 3.33 dtex (3.0 denier) or less, 2.78 dtex (2.5 denier) or less, or 2.22 dtex (2.0 denier). Satisfying the above range may be more advantageous for achieving stable inhalation resistance and ensuring processability of the filter for smoking articles.
[0286] Although not specifically limited, the step controlled to secure the aforementioned single-denier range may be the aforementioned spinning step. Alternatively, the aforementioned spinning, coagulation, washing, and emulsion treatment steps may all be controlled to secure the aforementioned single-denier range.
[0287]
[0288] <(f) Crimping Step>
[0289] The crimping step is a step that enables obtaining a crimped multifilament, preferably a crimped tow, by applying pressure to the emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament through steam and / or a press roller. The crimping step may be referred to as a crimping step.
[0290] Through crimping, waves are imparted to the lyocell multifilaments, and the fibers can have bulky characteristics. Crimping can be performed using known crimping devices, such as stuffer boxes and / or steam boxes, and the crimping devices available are not particularly limited as long as they are devices capable of imparting one or more of the pressures described below, for example.
[0291] In one example, the crimping step may be performed by first supplying steam to the lyocell multifilament to preheat and swell the lyocell multifilament, and then pressing the lyocell multifilament with a press roller to form crimps in the lyocell multifilament. At this time, a steam box may be used for the steam supply, and such a steam box may be located upstream of the crimping device.
[0292] In one example, the crimping step can be performed in such a way that the lyocell multifilament is pressed by a press roller and steam is applied simultaneously.
[0293] In one example, the crimping step may be performed by first supplying steam to the lyocell multifilament to preheat and swell the lyocell multifilament, and then simultaneously pressurizing the lyocell multifilament with a press roller and applying steam.
[0294] In one example, the crimping step applies 0.98 to 19.61 N / cm to each lyocell multifilament before feeding into the crimping device (specifically, a press roller). 2 (0.1 to 2.0 kgf / cm² 2 It can be performed while applying steam.
[0295] For example, 1.96 N / cm 2 (0.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 2.94 N / cm 2 (0.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 3.92 N / cm 2 (0.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 4.90 N / cm 2 (0.5 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher or 5.88 N / cm 2 (0.6 kgf / cm 2 Steam of ) or more can be supplied by a steam box. Also, 14.71 N / cm 2 (1.5 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 13.73 N / cm 2 (1.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 12.75 N / cm 2 (1.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 11.77 N / cm 2 (1.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 10.79 N / cm 2 (1.1 kgf / cm 2 ) or less or 9.81 N / cm 2 (1.0 kgf / cm 2 Steam below the specified range may be provided. If the steam supply amount or pressure is below the specified range, the crimp may not be formed smoothly. Also, if it exceeds the specified range, the flexibility of the filament increases, and excessive crimp is imparted to the filament within the crimping device, which may prevent it from passing through the crimping device.
[0296] In one example, the crimping step may be performed by pressing the lyocell multifilament with a press roller to form wrinkles in the lyocell multifilament. Additionally, steam may not be supplied prior to pressurization, steam may not be supplied simultaneously with pressurization, or steam may not be supplied at all prior to and simultaneously with pressurization.
[0297] In one example, the crimping step applies 14.71 to 39.23 N / cm independently to each lyocell multifilament fed into the crimping device using a press roller. 2 (1.5 to 4.0 kgf / cm² 2 It can be performed while applying pressure.
[0298] For example, 15.69 N / cm 2 (1.6 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 16.67 N / cm 2 (1.7 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 17.65 N / cm 2 (1.8 kgf / cm 2 ) Above, 18.63 N / cm 2 (1.9 kgf / cm 2 ) Above, 19.61 N / cm 2 (2.0 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 20.60 N / cm 2 (2.1 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 21.58 N / cm 2 (2.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 22.56 N / cm 2 (2.3 kgf / cm 2 ) Above, 23.54 N / cm 2 (2.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher or 24.52 N / cm 2 (2.5 kgf / cm 2Pressure exceeding ) can be applied to the lyocell multifilament through the press roller. Also, 38.25 N / cm 2 (3.9 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 37.27 N / cm 2 (3.8 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 36.29 N / cm 2 (3.7 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 35.31 N / cm 2 (3.6 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 34.33 N / cm 2 (3.5 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 33.35 N / cm 2 (3.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 32.37 N / cm 2 (3.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 31.39 N / cm 2 (3.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 30.41 N / cm 2 (3.1 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 29.42 N / cm 2 (3.0 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 28.44 N / cm 2 (2.9 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 27.46 N / cm 2 (2.8 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 26.48 N / cm 2 (2.7 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 25.50 N / cm 2 (2.6 kgf / cm 2 ) or less or 24.52 N / cm 2 (2.5 kgf / cm 2 Pressure below ) can be applied by the press roller.
[0299] The pressure of the press roller is within the above range If the pressure is less than the above range, the desired number of crimps may not be sufficiently formed. Also, if the roller pressure exceeds the above range, the pressing force may be too strong, preventing the filament from being fed smoothly into the crimping device or from passing through the stuffer box. Wrinkles may be formed on the lyocell multifilament by the press roller providing the above pressure.
[0300] In one example, using an upper plate, a pressure of 0.98 to 19.61 N / cm² is applied to each lyocell multifilament. 2 (0.1 to 2 kgf / cm² 2 The pressure of ) can be applied independently of each other. In addition, the upper plate can apply pressure to each lyocell multifilament while each lyocell multifilament passes through or while passing through the press roller.
[0301] For example, the pressure applied by the upper plate is 1.96 N / cm 2 (0.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 2.94 N / cm 2 (0.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 3.92 N / cm 2 (0.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, or 4.90 N / cm 2 (0.5 kgf / cm 2 It may be greater than ). Also, 14.71 N / cm 2 (1.5 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 13.73 N / cm 2 (1.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 12.75 N / cm 2 (1.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 11.77 N / cm 2 (1.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 10.79 N / cm 2 (1.1 kgf / cm 2 ) or less or 9.81 N / cm 2 (1.0 kgf / cm 2Pressure below ) can be applied by the upper plate.
[0302] Furthermore, the pressure of the upper plate, which moves up and down to impart uniform crimp after passing through the press roller, is 0.98 N / cm 2 If it is less than (0.1 kgf / ㎠), the upper plate cannot be fixed due to the pressure inside the stopper box, causing the tow to remain inside the stopper box for a long time, and the continuity of the process cannot be maintained, and 19.61 N / cm 2 (2 kgf / cm 2 If it exceeds ) steam cannot be released smoothly inside the stopper box, and the crimp shape may become irregular.
[0303] In one example, a doctor blade that applies a predetermined pressure to the lyocell multifilament may be applied in the crimping step. The doctor blade controls the residence time of the filament fed into the crimper stuffer box, thereby contributing to the control of the number of crimps. Such a doctor blade may be positioned, for example, in the path of the lyocell multifilament discharged from the roller pressure point after being pressurized by the roller described above.
[0304] In one example, the crimping step involves using a doctor blade to apply 0.98 to 19.61 N / cm independently to each lyocell multifilament passing through the roller of the crimping device. 2 (0.1 to 2.0 kgf / cm² 2 It can be performed while applying pressure.
[0305] For example, the pressure applied by the doctor blade is 1.96 N / cm 2 (0.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 2.94 N / cm 2 (0.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or higher, 3.92 N / cm 2 (0.4 kgf / cm 2) or higher, or 4.90 N / cm 2 (0.5 kgf / cm 2 It may be greater than ). Also, 14.71 N / cm 2 (1.5 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 13.73 N / cm 2 (1.4 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 12.75 N / cm 2 (1.3 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 11.77 N / cm 2 (1.2 kgf / cm 2 ) or less, 10.79 N / cm 2 (1.1 kgf / cm 2 ) or less or 9.81 N / cm 2 (1.0 kgf / cm 2 The following pressure may be applied by the doctor blade.
[0306] In one example, the crimping step may be performed at a temperature in the range of 120 to 250°C. If the temperature is excessively low, the shape stabilization effect of the crimp is poor, and if the temperature is excessively high, the concentration of oil in the stuffer box increases, making it difficult to form the crimp. Therefore, considering the steam pressure, etc. described above, the temperature may be appropriately controlled in the range of 130°C or higher, 140°C or higher, or 150°C or higher, and 200°C or lower, 180°C or lower, or 160°C or lower.
[0307]
[0308] <(g) Binder processing step>
[0309] In one example, the method may further include the step of applying a binder to an emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament or a lyocell multifilament obtained by a crimping step.
[0310] When a filter for a smoking product is manufactured using lyocell material (e.g., lyocell tow), a binder may be additionally used. The binder increases the hardness of the filter for the smoking product containing the lyocell material, thereby preventing problems such as the filter getting stuck during the filter manufacturing process or the cigarette manufacturing process.
[0311] The method of coating the binder onto the lyocell material is not particularly limited. For example, emulsion treatment may be performed by immersing the lyocell multifilament in a bath filled with binder (or binder solution) so that the lyocell multifilament is completely submerged in the binder. Alternatively, binder coating may be performed by spraying (or denominator) the binder (or binder solution) through a nozzle.
[0312] The types and components of usable binders are as described above, so they are omitted.
[0313] In one example, the binder (or binder solution) may further include a solvent in addition to the components described above. The solvent may include, for example, water, ethanol, propylene glycol and / or glycerin, but is not limited thereto. If the binder (or binder solution) includes a solvent, the solvent content may be, for example, about 20 to 80 weight% or 40 to 60 weight% based on 100 weight% of the total binder (or binder solution).
[0314] The binder treatment described above may be performed at a level that can achieve the purpose of the binder treatment described above. For example, the binder treatment may be performed such that the binder content is 20% by weight or less, for example, within the range of 8 to 15% by weight, based on 100% by weight of the emulsion and the binder-treated lyocell multifilament. In this case, the content may refer to the dry weight after the solvent or liquid component that may be included in the binder has evaporated.
[0315] After the binder is coated onto the lyocell multifilament, drying of the binder may proceed. The drying temperature is not specifically limited, but, for example, drying may be performed at room temperature (about 10 to 35 ℃).
[0316]
[0317] <(h) Other steps>
[0318] Appropriate post-processing may be performed additionally after crimping.
[0319] In one example, a secondary emulsion treatment (h1) may be additionally performed. Through the secondary emulsion treatment, flexibility may be further imparted to the tow. The secondary emulsion treatment may be performed in the same way as or in a manner similar to the emulsion treatment step (d) described above.
[0320] Specifically, the secondary emulsion treatment can be performed by treating the lyocell tow, which has undergone a crimpering process, with an emulsion. This can function advantageously in various processes performed during the manufacture of filters for smoking products. For example, the secondary emulsion treatment not only allows the fibers and filter to spread well even in air during the spreading process, but also limits the cutting of the fibers during the stretching process.
[0321] The above secondary emulsion treatment may be performed before or after binder treatment. Alternatively, the above secondary emulsion treatment may be performed regardless of whether or not binder treatment is performed.
[0322] Even when the secondary emulsion treatment as described above is performed, the secondary emulsion treatment process can be carried out so that the content of the emulsion or the OPU content in the material satisfies the range described above.
[0323] In one example, a drying treatment (h2) may be additionally performed. The drying may be performed, for example, at a temperature in the range of 100 to 130°C. The drying method or technique is not particularly limited, and known techniques may be used. For example, it may be performed by applying hot air to the tow, or by passing the tow through or leaving it in a temperature-controlled room for a certain period of time.
[0324] In one aspect, the present invention provides a lyocell material obtained by a method for manufacturing a lyocell material as described above.
[0325] In one aspect, the present invention provides a lyocell material obtainable by a method for manufacturing a lyocell material as described above.
[0326]
[0327] [Smoking Items]
[0328] Although not specifically limited, a lyocell material produced by the above method may be included in a smoking article. The smoking article may be an aerosol-generating article. The aerosol-generating article may include an aerosol-generating substance or an aerosol-forming substrate.
[0329] For example, lyocell material may be included in a combustion type cigarette. As another example, lyocell material may be included in a heated cigarette, and the heated cigarette may be used together with an aerosol generating device (not shown).
[0330] For example, when used as a heated smoking article, the smoking article may be separately inserted into an aerosol generating device. Here, the aerosol generating device includes a receiving groove in which the aerosol generating article can be received, and additionally may include a heater for heating the aerosol generating article to generate aerosol, a control unit for generally controlling the operation of the aerosol generating device, a battery for providing power used to operate the aerosol generating device, and a detector for recognizing that the aerosol generating article has been inserted into the aerosol generating device.
[0331] A smoking article may include a tobacco medium, a filter for the smoking article, and a wrapper, and the filter for the smoking article may be located at one end of the tobacco medium, for example, at the rear or front end. The tobacco medium and the filter for the smoking article may each include a single segment, or they may each include multiple segments independently of each other.
[0332] The above tobacco medium comprises a tobacco substance, and the tobacco substance comprises nicotine. Additionally, the tobacco medium may additionally comprise an excipient.
[0333] Excipients may include binders, fillers, and other additives. For example, the tobacco medium included in the tobacco medium portion may be manufactured in the form of granules containing tobacco material and excipients.
[0334] For example, a filler may be additionally included to maintain the shape, strength, and mass of the tobacco medium. For example, lyocell material may be included in the tobacco medium. Additionally, lyocell material may be used as a filler.
[0335] The above wrapper can be subdivided into a cigarette paper that wraps the tobacco medium, a filter paper that wraps the filter, a tipping wrapper that combines the tobacco medium and the filter, etc.
[0336]
[0337] [Filter for smoking items]
[0338] Lyocell material may be used in filters for smoking products. The lyocell material may be lyocell tow. In one example, the lyocell tow comprises a crimped lyocell multifilament.
[0339] For example, the present application relates to a filter for a smoking article. The filter for the smoking article comprises a lyocell material, and the lyocell material may be the same as described above. Additionally, the filter for the smoking article comprises a lyocell tow, and the lyocell tow may be the same as described above.
[0340] In addition, the above lyocell material contains the above emulsion in an amount of 0.1 weight% or more relative to 100 weight% of the total lyocell material. Other than that, the description regarding the emulsion components and content according to the specific embodiments of the present application is the same as that described above.
[0341] In one example, the single fineness of the filaments forming the lyocell multifilament may be 1.67 dtex to 8.89 dtex (1.5 to 8.0 denier). The specific numerical values are the same as those described above.
[0342] In one example, the crimped lyocell multifilament may be a lyocell material having a total fineness of 1,667 tex to 6,111 tex (15,000 to 55,000 denier), and preferably may be a lyocell tow. The specific numerical values are the same as those described above.
[0343] In one example, the crimped lyocell multifilament may have 3.94 to 19.71 crimps per centimeter (10 to 50 crimps per inch). Specific figures are the same as those described above.
[0344] In one example, the filter for the smoking article may further include a binder on the surface of the crimped lyocell multifilament or between the crimped lyocell multifilaments. The binder increases the hardness of the filter for the smoking article manufactured from tow, thereby preventing problems such as the filter getting stuck during the filter manufacturing process or the cigarette manufacturing process. The description regarding the types, components, and content of the binders available for use is the same as described above.
[0345] In one example, the filter for the smoking article may further include a roll (which may be referred to as a roll, filter paper, or filter roll). For example, the roll may be porous or non-porous paper capable of wrapping the lyocell tow described above and maintaining a filter shape (e.g., cylinder or cylinder).
[0346] In a specific embodiment of the present application, the filter for the smoking article may have a predetermined shape and size.
[0347] For example, the filter may have a rod shape. More specifically, the filter for the smoking article may have a cylinder-like shape.

[0356]
[0357] [Method for manufacturing a filter for smoking products]
[0358] For example, the present application relates to a method for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article. The method may be a method for manufacturing a lyocell filter for a smoking article as described above, and may include the method for manufacturing the lyocell material described above.
[0359] Regarding the method for manufacturing filters for smoking products, the remaining process, excluding the step of manufacturing the filter, is identical to the process described above for the lyocell material; therefore, such description is omitted. Furthermore, any descriptions that overlap with those above are also omitted.
[0360] The step of manufacturing the filter can be appropriately performed by a person skilled in the art according to known methods. For example, the filter may be manufactured by forming a roll of paper filled with lyocell material into a rod shape. Alternatively, the filter may be manufactured by cutting a filter paper filled with lyocell material having a rod shape into an appropriate length. The description regarding the roll is the same as described above.
[0361] Although not specifically limited, additional opening or plasticizer treatment of the lyocell material may be performed before filling the filter paper with the lyocell material. The surface area of the lyocell material may be increased by opening the lyocell material. For example, the lyocell material may be opened by applying an external force in the length direction, width direction, and / or thickness direction.
[0362] Preferably, the lyocell material used in the manufacture of a filter for a smoking product may be lyocell tow.
[0363] Although not specifically limited, the filter for a smoking article may additionally include known cellulose acetate multifilaments to the extent that it does not impede the purpose of the present invention. The cellulose acetate multifilaments may be mixed with lyocell multifilaments. The cellulose acetate multifilaments may be included in a segment distinct from the segment containing the lyocell multifilaments.
[0364]
[0365] According to the present application, a lyocell material for a smoking article filter that can replace commercially available cellulose acetate (CA) and a filter for a smoking article containing the same are provided. Specifically, a lyocell dope is provided in which the uniformity and spinnability are improved by controlling the characteristics of the pulp (e.g., angle of repose). The uniformity of the lyocell monofilament and lyocell multifilament obtained by spinning from the lyocell dope can be improved.
[0366]
[0367] The operation and effects of the invention will be explained in more detail below through specific embodiments. However, these are presented as examples of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention in any way.
[0368]
[0369]
[0370] Lyocell material was manufactured through the same process as described in the manufacturing example below. Conditions not specifically mentioned were carried out within the scope of the description above.
[0371]
[0372] [Preparation Example]
[0373] Cellulose pulp with an average particle size controlled to about 500 μm or less was mixed with an NMMO aqueous solution to prepare a lyocell dope for the production of a lyocell material with a concentration of 10 wt%.
[0374] Then, while maintaining the spinning temperature at 110 ℃ in the spinning nozzle, the discharge volume and spinning speed were appropriately adjusted, and the lyocell dope was spun.
[0375] The lyocell dope on a filament extruded from the spinning nozzle was supplied to a coagulation liquid in a coagulation tank (a coagulation liquid having a concentration of 75 wt% water and 25 wt% NMMO, at a temperature of approximately 25°C) via an air gap section. At this time, the cooling air in the air gap section primarily coagulated the lyocell dope at a temperature of 8°C and an airflow rate of 200 N㎥ / h. In addition, the concentration of the coagulation liquid was continuously monitored using a sensor and a refractometer.
[0376] Then, the solidified lyocell filament was washed. Specifically, the filament was introduced into a traction roller, and residual NMMO in the filament was removed with a washing liquid sprayed from a washing device. Then, the washed filament was immersed in a bath designed with a predetermined emulsion concentration.
[0377] The filament moves at 19.6 N / cm by the nip roll installed at the bath discharge section. 2 It was processed at a pressure of 2 kgf / cm² and fed into a crimp machine to impart wrinkles. Specifically, the pressure of the press roller was 24.52 N / cm² 2 With (2.5 kgf / ㎠), the pressure of the adjusting blade (doctor blade) is 4.90 N / cm² 2 Lyocell material (Lyocell tow) was manufactured by setting the value to (0.5 kgf / ㎠).
[0378]
[0379] The manufactured lyocell tow has a single fineness of 2.22 dtex to 8.88 dtex (2.0 to 8.0 denier), a total fineness of 3,333 tex to 6,110 tex (30,000 to 55,000 denier), and a crimp number of 5.91 ea / cm to 18.05 ea / cm (15 to 55 ea / inch).
[0380]
[0381] Examples 1 to 4
[0382] A lyocell material was prepared according to Preparation Example 1, wherein the angle of repose and dispersion of the cellulose pulp were controlled as shown in Table 1 below. In addition, the floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope was controlled as shown in Table 1.
[0383] The degree of dispersion and flooding of the pulp could be controlled by adjusting the grinding conditions during pulp sheet grinding. More specifically, the particle size distribution and shape of the ground pulp could be controlled by changing the grinding intensity, knife gap, residence time, and the rotational speed of the grinder. As the degree of grinding and the ratio of fibrous residue were controlled according to the grinding conditions, the degree of dispersion and flooding of the powder could be controlled simultaneously.
[0384]
[0385] Comparative Examples 1 to 3
[0386] A lyocell material was prepared according to Preparation Example 1, wherein the angle of repose and dispersion of the cellulose pulp were controlled as shown in Table 1 below. In addition, the floodability of the pulp included in the lyocell dope was controlled as shown in Table 1.
[0387] The angle of repose, dispersion, and floodability of the pulp were measured using a Multi Tester from Seishin Enterprise (model name: MT-02 (Measuring Instrument of Multi-functional powder properties)). In addition, the average particle size of the pulp was measured using a particle size analyzer from MALVEN (model name: Mastersizer 3000).

[0391] <Experiment 1: Evaluation of Non-uniformity>
[0392] The hourly flow rate of pulp being transported to a weight-loss feeder was measured. Based on the measured hourly flow rate, the average flow rate, minimum flow rate, and maximum flow rate were calculated. The average flow rate was defined as the flow rate per unit time. Based on the calculated values, the flow rate non-uniformity (%) was calculated as shown in Equation 1 below.
[0393] [Equation 1]
[0394] Pulp flow rate non-uniformity = (Maximum flow rate - Minimum flow rate) / Average flow rate * 100
[0395] In addition, the average pressure, minimum pressure, and maximum pressure of the lyocell dope were measured during the extrusion process of the lyocell dope. Based on the measured values, the pressure non-uniformity (%) was calculated according to Equation 2 below.
[0396] [Equation 2]
[0397] Pressure Non-uniformity = (Maximum Pressure - Minimum Pressure) / Average Pressure * 100
[0398] In addition, fineness non-uniformity was measured from a 2m sample taken from the lyocell material. Prior to the measurement of fineness non-uniformity, the sample was left for 24 hours under constant temperature and humidity conditions (20℃, 65%RH), and then stabilized by applying a load of 2kg for approximately 5 seconds. The stabilized sample was cut into 90cm lengths, and its weight was measured. The fineness of the sample was calculated according to Equation 3-1 below. A total of 50 samples were taken, and the average fineness, minimum fineness, and maximum fineness were determined from each measured fineness value. Fineness non-uniformity (%) was calculated according to Equation 3 below.
[0399] [Equation 3]
[0400] Fineness Non-uniformity = (Maximum Fineness - Minimum Fineness) / Average Fineness * 100
[0401] [Equation 3-1]
[0402] Sample fineness = Sample weight (g) * 10000
[0403]
[0404] Pulp Flow Rate Non-uniformity (%) Pressure Non-uniformity (%) Fineness Non-uniformity (%) Example 1 8.8 7.6 10.2 2 11.1 8.6 11.3 3 13.2 10.9 17.1 4 14.7 12.7 18.2 Comparative Example 1 15.3 16.7 22.4 2 15.6 18.9 22.8 3 17.1 20.1 26.8
[0405]
[0406] In the case of Examples 1 to 4, the flow rate non-uniformity was evaluated to be 15% or less. On the other hand, in the case of Comparative Examples 1 to 3, the flow rate non-uniformity was evaluated to be greater than 15%. Considering that the lower the flow rate non-uniformity, the more uniformly the preparation step of the lyocell dope can be performed, it is expected that the lyocell dope of Examples 1 to 4 will provide improved uniformity compared to the lyocell dope of Comparative Examples 1 to 3.
[0407] In addition, for Examples 1 to 4, the pressure non-uniformity was evaluated to be 16% or less. On the other hand, for Comparative Examples 1 to 3, the pressure non-uniformity was evaluated to be greater than 16%. Considering that the lower the pressure non-uniformity, the more uniformly the filament extraction process can be performed, it is expected that the lyocell multifilaments of Examples 1 to 4 will provide improved uniformity compared to the lyocell multifilaments of Comparative Examples 1 to 3.
[0408] In the case of Examples 1 to 4, the non-uniformity of fineness of the lyocell material was evaluated to be 11% or less. On the other hand, in the case of Comparative Examples 1 to 3, the non-uniformity of fineness of the lyocell material was evaluated to be over 22%. Considering that the uniformity of characteristics of the lyocell material, such as mechanical properties and filtering ability, can be improved as the fineness becomes more uniform, it is expected that the lyocell material obtained in Examples 1 to 4 can provide significantly improved uniformity compared to the lyocell material obtained in Comparative Examples 1 to 3.
[0409] Therefore, referring to Table 2, it is expected that in the case of Examples 1 to 4, the uniformity from the lyocell monofilament to the lyocell material will be evenly improved compared to Comparative Examples 1 to 3. Furthermore, it is expected that the filtering ability of the filter containing the lyocell material of Examples 1 to 4 will be improved.
