Abstract

The present invention relates to an aqueous light-barrier coating composition comprising: 0.1-10 wt% of pigment particles having a mean particle diameter of 2 µm or less, based on the total solids content of the aqueous light-barrier coating composition, 70-99.8 wt% of binder, based on the total solids content of the aqueous light-barrier coating composition, and 0.1-20 wt% of foaming agent, based on the total solids content of the aqueous light-barrier coating composition, wherein the aqueous light-barrier coating composition has a total solids content of at least 3 wt%; and to uses thereof for manufacturing light-barrier coated paper or paperboard substrates.
