Abstract

An electric motor comprising a rotor, a stator, a first brake element and a second brake element, wherein the first brake element is arranged to be mounted to the rotor and a bearing via one or more removable coupling elements to allow the rotor to be rotatably coupled to the stator, wherein the first brake element has a first surface; the second brake element has a second surface and is mounted to the stator and movable from a first position to a second position, wherein when the second brake element is in the second position the second surface is arranged to be in contact with the first surface to inhibit rotational movement of the rotor relative to the stator, wherein the first brake element is arranged to be dismounted via the removable coupling elements from the rotor and the bearing to allow the first brake element to be moved axially away from the rotor and the stator.
