Method for ablation verification

Abstract

An ultrasonic imaging tool (200) and method for imaging through induced holes. The method comprises deploying the tool into the tubing at a first position, penetrating acoustic pulses through induced holes, capturing acoustic reflections from these pulses, and analysing the reflections to determine characteristics of the wellbore. These characteristics include verifying partial ablation of a control line (119), perforation, cutting, or puncturing of the tubing (211 / 103), evaluating the physical condition or integrity of the casing (103), and detecting the presence of control lines (119) or flatpacks (212) between the tubing and casing.
