Furnace system

Abstract

There are provided furnace systems and methods for melting mineral materials to produce mineral melt, wherein the mineral melt is at least one of stone melt, rock melt, or slag melt. The systems may comprise a furnace body configured to receive mineral material; one or more electrodes configured to heat the mineral material to form mineral melt; and at least one bubbling lance for releasing fluids into the mineral material or mineral melt within the furnace body, wherein the bubbling lance comprises: a hollow bubbling pipe and a cooling jacket surrounding the bubbling pipe and extending to the distal end of the lance. The lance is arranged such that a portion of the lance, said portion comprising the distal end of the lance, extends at an offset angle to a vertical axis of the furnace body.
