Joint mechanisms for modular furniture and related systems and methods

Abstract

Joint mechanisms for modular systems of assembling furniture items, and associated systems and methods, are disclosed herein. For example, a modular system can include a plurality of structural rods and a plurality of knuckles that can be attached to openings in the structural rods to join two or more structural rods together. Each of the knuckles can include a connective core (e.g., a core portion) that has a joint region and at least two connecting regions extending from the joint region. The knuckle can also include two or more locking components individually couplable to each of the two or more connecting regions. The locking components and the connecting regions can be positioned within an opening of a corresponding structural rod, then attached so that the knuckle forms a joint between the structural bars.
