Abstract

A charge / discharge device 1 comprises: a power conversion unit 7 that converts power supplied via an inlet 4 into DC power suitable for a battery 2 and converts the DC power of the battery 2 into power to be discharged from an outlet 5; a first voltage measurement unit Sa that measures a voltage Va between the inlet 4 and the power conversion unit 7; a second voltage measurement unit Sb that measures a voltage Vb between the outlet 5 and the power conversion unit 7; and a control unit 6 that controls conduction between the power conversion unit 7 and the inlet 4 and conduction between the power conversion unit 7 and the outlet 5. When the battery 2 is discharged in a state in which the inlet 4 and the outlet 5 are not conducted with the power conversion unit 7, the control unit 6 determines a circuit abnormality between the inlet 4 and the power conversion unit 7 on condition that the voltage Va is higher than or equal to a prescribed first threshold Th1, and determines a circuit abnormality between the outlet 5 and the power conversion unit 7 on condition that the voltage Vb is higher than or equal to a prescribed second threshold Th2.
