Puddle reaction control and slide rinse replacement

Abstract

A tissue staining system includes an air knife station with at least one air knife. The air knife is configured to remove residual fluid from a slide supporting a tissue sample. The system further includes a volume adjuster station with a volume adjuster positioned downstream from the air knife. In one version, the volume adjuster applies one or more buffer solutions to the slide. In some eases, the system includes a rinse station with one or more nozzles. In one version, the rinse station is a dual rinse station, with two nozzles. With the air knife, residual fluid removal efficiency is enhanced, and the loss of tissue sample is reduced.
