Bone growth device

Abstract

An intramedullary bone growth device may be used to move a bone segment. The device may include an elongated outer shell having first and second ends configured to be fixed to bone segments. The bone growth device may include a drive system positioned within the elongated housing and which may include a gearbox, a motor, and a controller coupled to the motor. The drive system may be mechanically coupled to a transport mechanism which may transport a movable bone segment axially and adjacent the elongated housing. The transport mechanism may include a threaded rod and a nut that can move along the threaded rod. A tether may be looped through the outer shell and may be coupled to the nut and the movable bone segment.
