Reperfusion pump systems and methods of using

Abstract

A pump system and methods of using are presented for interventional procedures, and more particularly, creating and controlling blood mixtures for use in reperfusing ischemic tissues. Reperfusion-related and oxygen-related injury to a tissue is mitigated by precisely creating a reperfusate that allows for modulating the level of oxygen re-exposure of a tissue prior to, during, and directly after the time of an intervention to re-establish flow to an infarct vessel and delivering it through an isolation catheter in a safe way, including controlling reperfusate pressures. The apparatus provides for a removable attachable pump section, which may be designed to facilitate replacement or thorough cleaning.
