Abstract

A method of forming at least two offset winding turn groups for a metal detector coil, wherein each of the at least two winding turn groups are offset predetermined distances from one another by a strap of predetermined thickness which is applied around at least a portion of a perimeter of an inner winding turn group before a subsequent winding turn group is applied around the strap.
