Systems and methods for atmospheric water harvesting

Abstract

A system for collecting water, is disclosed. The system comprises: a chamber, comprising at least one composite element positioned therewithin, and configured to supply a flow of air to the at least one composite element, said at least one composite element comprising a water absorbing material and a photothermal material, and being configured to: (i) absorb water from said air and (ii) to release the absorbed water thereto in response to exposure to light to obtain a humidified air; a light source positioned within the chamber so as to direct light toward the at least one composite element; at least one condenser in fluid communication with the chamber and assembled downstream thereto, and configured receive the humidified air and condense water therefrom.
