Fire extinguishing devices and systems

Abstract

A fire extinguishing system comprising DIN rail affixable to a supporting structure and for carrying one or more electrical devices thereon, wherein the DIN rail includes at least one substantially enclosed channel, wherein said channel has a first end and a second end and a longitudinal axis extending in a direction of from the first end towards the second end, and wherein said channel defines a passageway therein; wherein the channel includes at least one opening to provide fluid communication between the passageway and external of the channel; wherein said passageway within the substantially enclosed channel provides for containing a fire extinguishing compound or a fire extinguishing device, wherein the fire extinguishing compound or fire extinguishing device includes an aerosol-forming composition or a gas-forming composition; and wherein upon combustion of the aerosol-forming composition or the gas-forming composition of a fire extinguishing compound or fire extinguishing device disposed within the passageway, the aerosol-forming composition or gas-forming composition expands and is expelled from the passageway through the at least one opening for extinguishing a fire.
