Control system and method of operation for a power system for a mobile machine

Abstract

A power system (100) for a hybrid electric machine including: a power generation system (120) including an engine (121), and a generator (123) configured to generate electrical power based on power produced by the engine (121); a power converter (130) in electrical connection with the power generation system (120) and configured to command a load to the generator (123); a power distribution unit (150) in electrical connection with the power generation system (120) via the power converter (130); one or more batteries (140) in electrical connection with the power distribution unit (150); and a controller configured to command the power converter (130) to command a load from the power generation system (120), such that the power generation system (120) produces power with a relatively higher voltage than the batteries (140). In another aspect, a software module (200) includes an engine replacement library (400) as a swappable block interfacing with a remainder of the software module (200), the engine replacement library (400) including inputs specific to the engine.
