Description

[0001] herbal pipe

[0002] Technical field

[0003] The invention relates to a herbal pipe with a tube body comprising a mouthpiece, a tube body sleeve, and a smoking material receptacle arranged opposite the mouthpiece, which forms an insertion opening for a filter, wherein a filter receptacle in the tube body connects to the insertion opening. In particular, such a herbal pipe can be used as a one-hitter.

[0004] State of the art

[0005] From FR3108235A1, a herbal pipe consisting of a tube body is known. The tube body has a mouthpiece at one end, which is placed in the mouth by the smoker. At the opposite end of the tube body is a material receptacle into which the smoking material can be packed. To filter out any solids and other harmful substances, the herbal pipe body has a filter receptacle into which a filter can be inserted by completely pushing the filter into the interior of the tube body. A disadvantage of this design, however, is that changing the filter requires the use of a tool. Furthermore, only special filters that expand radially outwards can be used with this herbal pipe; otherwise, a secure hold of the filter in the tube body would not be guaranteed.

[0006] To allow easy access to the filter for replacement, it is known from GB1092920A to provide a herbal pipe with a hinged smoking material holder. The filter holder is located in the hinged lid. However, this hinged solution is structurally complex.

[0007] Description of the invention

[0008] The invention is therefore based on the objective of proposing a herbal pipe which, despite simple design measures, allows for easy and quick filter changes.

[0009] The invention solves the stated problem by perforating the pipe body to form an engagement section for the filter holder. This engagement section, which can be designed, for example, as a closed opening, thus exposes the filter holder. According to this feature of the invention, a filter located in the filter holder can be directly accessed, pushed towards the insertion opening of the tobacco product holder, and removed through it. Since the tobacco product holder also functions as an insertion and exit opening for the filter, the removal of the filter simultaneously results in the tobacco product being discharged from the tobacco product holder, thus advantageously cleaning the herbal pipe when changing the filter.A particularly uniform flow of tobacco is achieved when the filter holder provides axial guidance for the filter, allowing for controlled repositioning. For this purpose, the axial length of the engagement section can be shorter than the length of the filter, ensuring that the filter is always partially enclosed by the pipe body. The filter is thus axially movable within the filter holder. The installer will select the dimensions of the tobacco holder so that the filter can be easily inserted through the opening without unduly compromising filter performance or the smoking experience. For example, the tobacco holder can have an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the filter.Furthermore, the shorter longitudinal extent of the engagement section compared to the filter can also be advantageous here to prevent unintentional smoke escaping through the engagement section. The filter thus preferably conceals the engagement section when it is in its smoking position within the filter holder. A particularly easy-to-manufacture herbal pipe results when the pipe body has a constant outer diameter. The pipe body can be made of metal. Standard cellulose filters or activated carbon filters, preferably with ceramic caps, are particularly suitable as filters. Occasionally, such filters are graphically printed, for example with trademarks, so that when such filters are used with the herbal pipe according to the invention, the trademarks remain visible through the engagement section. The filters, together with the herbal pipe, can therefore also be used as advertising space.Furthermore, the filters can be equipped with sieves on their end surfaces, which improves filtration performance and eliminates the need for separate sieves in the tobacco chamber. The mouthpiece of the herbal pipe can taper or flatten towards the end for a particularly pleasant mouthfeel. The access section does not need to be permanently accessible, but only when changing the filter. For example, the access section can be covered by a sleeve while smoking. To change the filter, the sleeve can be removed, making the filter easily accessible and allowing it to be removed.

[0010] To enable a short tobacco discharge path and thus a rapid discharge process, it is proposed that the filter holder be arranged on the tobacco-receptor side of the pipe body. This results in a herbal pipe with a pipe body at one end of which the mouthpiece is located and the tobacco-receptor at the other. The filter holder and the engagement section are located between the mouthpiece and the tobacco-receptor on the tobacco-receptor side. The filter holder connects to the insertion opening. To allow for easy repositioning of the filter within the herbal pipe, particularly within the filter holder, the inner diameter of the pipe body can be larger than the outer diameter of the filter, at least in some sections. To prevent unwanted filter passage through the tube body towards the mouthpiece, despite the possibility of quick filter changes, the filter holder can incorporate a stop on the mouthpiece side for the inserted filter. To accommodate filters of varying diameters, the inner diameter of the tube body can taper in stages towards the mouthpiece. This can be easily achieved with a stepped bore.

[0011] To ensure both easy access to the filter within the filter holder and secure filter retention during smoking, it is proposed that a second engagement section be positioned opposite the first, formed by two clamping arms created by the tube body. This results in two engagement sections opposite each other along the longitudinal axis of the tube body, separated by clamping arms extending along this axis. These clamping arms exert a clamping force on the filter, holding it in the intended position during smoking. However, they still allow the filter to be moved towards the insertion opening, thus enabling it to be removed from the tube body. The clamping arms also provide axial guidance. To achieve the clamping force, the clamping arms can project radially in the direction of the tube body's rotation axis, be bent, or have clamping extensions projecting radially in the direction of the tube body's rotation axis.

[0012] While the filter in the filter holder within the pipe body is generally sufficient for adequate filtration, an additional filter can also be provided in the mouthpiece. For this purpose, a stop can be incorporated into the pipe body on the mouthpiece side to prevent the filter from being pushed too far into the pipe body. To accommodate filters of varying diameters, the inner diameter of the mouthpiece can taper in stages towards the tobacco chamber. This can be easily achieved with a stepped bore.

[0013] Manufacturing conditions are particularly simple when the pipe body is formed in one piece. Regardless, the pipe body can have a cylindrical shape, which also simplifies the manufacturing conditions.

[0014] To adapt the herbal pipe to different smoking materials, it is proposed that a detachable pipe bowl be provided to increase the smoking material capacity. The pipe bowl is detachably connected to the smoking material holder, thereby increasing the capacity. The pipe bowl could be connected to the smoking material holder, for example, via a screw connection or a plug connection.

[0015] As an alternative to a single piece, the pipe body can be made of multiple pieces. Specifically, the pipe body can comprise a base section and an adapter section that forms the filter holder, with the base section and the adapter section together forming the pipe body shell. The adapter section can be inserted into the base section. If the adapter section is detachably connected to the base section, separating the sections allows for particularly easy cleaning of the herbal pipe. The adapter section can also form the filter holder. In this case, the pipe body shell of the adapter section, as part of the pipe body, is perforated to create an engagement section for the filter holder.

[0016] If the pipe body has a smaller outer diameter in the area of engagement than in the mouthpiece-side area, this creates advantageous conditions for any extensions to the herbal pipe. These extensions can be attached to the section with the smaller diameter, whereby the smaller outer diameter of the pipe body in the area of engagement allows for a flush transition between the extension and the mouthpiece-side area of the pipe body. This results in a design that appears to be a single piece. At the same time, the larger outer diameter of the mouthpiece-side area of the pipe body can act as a stop for the extension, thus defining the desired final position. An extension could, for example, be a clamping sleeve or a pipe bowl.

[0017] Regardless of whether different outer diameters are used, an advantageous enhancement can be a detachable clamping sleeve that can be slipped, at least partially, over the pipe body, including the engagement section, and secures a filter in the filter holder. Preferably, the clamping sleeve is designed to exert a clamping force on the clamping arms, thus further improving the filter's seating in the filter holder. The clamping force can be generated, for example, by clamping elements projecting radially inwards towards the clamping arms. If the clamping sleeve is sufficiently long, it can also extend the pipe body's smoking chamber. Naturally, the clamping sleeve can also be used without a correspondingly smaller outer diameter of the pipe body in the engagement section, provided the inner diameter of the clamping sleeve is selected accordingly. The clamping sleeve does not form part of the pipe body and therefore does not need to be perforated to create an engagement section for the filter. By pulling the clamping sleeve away from the pipe body, the pipe body and its engagement section become freely accessible, allowing the filter to be removed according to the invention.

[0018] The clamping sleeve can be positioned against a spring force to facilitate the release process.

[0019] Hygienic smoking conditions can be achieved by providing a detachable mouthpiece extension.

[0030] Ways to implement the invention

[0031] As can be seen in Figures 1 to 4, a herbal pipe 1 according to the invention has a tube body 2, at one end of which a mouthpiece 3 is provided for insertion into the mouth of a smoker, and at the other end of which a tobacco receptacle 4 is provided into which tobacco can be packed. The tube body 2 comprises a tube body shell 5, which preferably has a cylindrical basic shape. The tobacco receptacle 4 forms an insertion opening through which a filter 6 can be inserted into the tube body 2 in the insertion direction A and secured in a filter receptacle 7 adjoining the insertion opening. According to the invention, the tube body shell 5 is perforated towards the filter receptacle 7 to form an engagement section 8, resulting in a closed opening that exposes the filter receptacle 7. In this way, a smoker can grasp the filter 6 and remove it from the tube body 2 in the opposite direction to the insertion direction A.The filter 6 can be removed from the herbal pipe 1 through the inlet / outlet opening formed by the herbal material receptacle 4, without the need for tools. Because the filter 6, and thus the filter itself, is guided through the herbal material receptacle 4 during removal, the filter 6 not only acts as a sieve for the herbal material, eliminating the need for a separate sieve within the receptacle 4, but also as a herbal material ejector, thereby cleaning the receptacle 4. This cleaning process can be enhanced by preheating the receptacle 4. The integrated access section 8 allows the filter 6 to be removed without coming into contact with the heated section of the herbal pipe 1. The size of the receptacle 4 can be adjusted to accommodate different types of herbal material.

[0032] Preferably the filter holder 7 is arranged on the tobacco intake side in the pipe body 2, so that the displacement path is kept short when changing.

[0033] According to Fig. 4, the herbal pipe can have a single engagement section 8, wherein the pipe body 5, in the area of the filter receptacle 7, forms an axial guide for the filter 6, allowing it to move in or against the insertion direction A. For ease of movement, the inner diameter of the pipe body 2 can be slightly larger than the outer diameter of the filter 6. The dimensions are chosen so that the filter performance is not negatively affected. To prevent the filter 6 from sliding beyond the filter receptacle 7 into the pipe body 2 in the insertion direction A, the filter receptacle 7 can have one or more stops 9 for the filter 6 on the mouthpiece side. The stops 9 can be formed by a stepped bore, the diameter of which decreases in the insertion direction A to allow the use of filters 6 of different sizes. This is shown in particular in the figures.Figures 2 and 3 show another embodiment with two engagement sections 8, wherein a second engagement section 8 is opposite the first engagement section 8, and these are interrupted by clamping legs 10 formed by the pipe body shell 5. The opposing clamping legs 10 exert a clamping force on the filter 6 and hold it in a secure position, but nevertheless allow active displacement of the filter 6 against the insertion direction A by means of a manual force, as indicated in Figure 3. The clamping legs 10 can be part of the axial guide. The filter holder 7 of the embodiment according to Figures 1, 2, and 3 also has one or more stops 9 for the filter 6 on the nozzle side.

[0034] Additionally, a second filter 6 can be inserted into the mouthpiece 3. To prevent filters 6 of different dimensions from slipping through the mouthpiece 3 towards the smoking material intake 4, stops 11 can be provided in the tube body for a filter 6 to be inserted into the mouthpiece 3. These stops 11 can also be formed by a stepped bore.

[0035] The pipe bodies 2 of the herb pipes 1 according to Figs. 1 to 4 can be made in one piece and, for example, of metal.

[0036] To ensure a secure fit of the filter 6 and to prevent smoke from escaping undesirably through the engagement section 8 instead of flowing towards the mouthpiece 3, the axial length of the engagement section 8 can be shorter than the longitudinal length of the filter 6. In this way, the inserted filter 6 completely covers the engagement section 8.

[0037] Figures 5 and 6 show a filter 6, which may have a filter core 12. Caps, in particular ceramic caps 13, may be provided at one or both ends of the filter core 12. These caps are preferably spaced apart from the filter core 12 by spacers 14, thus preventing clogging of the filter core 12. By providing the filters 6 at the connection of the tobacco product holder 4, a separate sieve or

[0038] The smoking material retention element in smoking material intake 4 can be omitted.

[0039] Fig. 7 shows a detailed view of the filter holder 7, where it can be seen that the clamping legs 10 can have thickenings 15 to exert a clamping force, which not only serve as tolerance compensation for filters 6 of different diameters, but also enable a secure seal between filter 6 and pipe body 2 in order to force the smoke to pass through the filter 6.

[0040] Figure 8 shows that a detachable pipe bowl 16 can be used to extend the smoking material receptacle 4; in this case, it can be attached to the smoking material receptacle 4. Furthermore, a detachable mouthpiece extension 17 can be provided in the mouthpiece 3.

[0041] As shown in Fig. 9, a clamping sleeve 18 can be fitted over the pipe body 5, including the engagement section 8. This clamping sleeve 18 can be detachably connected to the pipe body 2, for example, by a bayonet fitting 19. The clamping sleeve 18 can exert a clamping force on the clamping arms 10, thereby further improving the seating of the filter 6 in the filter holder 7 (Fig. 10). The clamping sleeve 18, which is not part of the pipe body 5, can cover the engagement section 8 towards the filter holder 7. If the filter 6 is to be changed, the clamping sleeve 18 is pulled off the pipe body 5, thus making the engagement section 7 freely accessible and allowing it to be used to remove the filter 6 through the tobacco product holder 4.

[0042] Fig. 10 reveals that the tube body 2 can comprise a base section 20 and an adapter section 21 forming the filter receptacle 7. The base section 20 and the adapter section 21 together form the tube body shell 5. In this case, the tube body shell 5 of the adapter section 21 is perforated to form an engagement section 8 towards the filter receptacle 7 and is inserted into the base section 20 either detachably or permanently. The engagement section 8 can be covered by the clamping sleeve 18 during smoking. If the clamping sleeve 18 is sufficiently long, it can enlarge the tobacco receptacle 4.
